I’ve never seen a place like this before..

“I have never seen a hotel like this before. This place is literally a museum, the owner collects antiques from around the world (but mostly Javanese and Cina peranakan), makes the hotel breathes art deco, bohemian, middle east, Javanese, oriental, and Dutch colonial style. It’s amazing they have so many collections like chairs from Soekarno’s house, 2000+ year old Chinese sculpture, and many ancient Chinaware.
Also worth to mentioned: Mata Hari’s dancing portrait and a mysterious picture from the black and white Lolita movie.

The service is excellent, the staff call me by name and never cease to amaze me by their warm hospitality. The tea time from 4-6 pm is worth to try. They provide Indonesian snacks with selections of tea and coffee. The front office staff are really really nice, they are very helpful and seems like all the staff enjoy what they’re doing so the hospitality comes from the heart.

Tips:
*During the tea time, sit on the balcony to have a better view of the hundred years old giant tree at the hotel facade.
*If you stay in the hotel, ask for a hotel tour. Mbak Poppy gave me a tour and she explained thoroughly and patiently about historical background in every item I asked. She also showed me the stunning Apsara suite. Unfortunately the Raden Saleh one was occupied on that day. Thank you, Mbak Poppy!
