Your Guide to Loy Krathong 2019
Often considered the most picturesque festival in Thailand, Loy Krathong is marked by its decorative banana leaf floats (known as krathong) floating down the country’s waterways, traditional performances, parades and, in the north, fiery paper lanterns. The annual holiday is a time to give thanks to the Goddess of Water after an abundant harvest, pay homage to the Buddha, and release past wrongdoings – sending them away down river
with one’s krathong.
Here’s where to celebrate Loy Krathong 2019 – from 11-13 November – across the country.
