Famed for its incredible islands and beaches, the current travel entry requirements to the Philippines mean visitors can easily enjoy up to a month exploring this colorful country with a Philippines tourism visa. You will however need to provide a clean, undamaged passport with 2 blank pages for stamps and at least six months' validity following the proposed date of entry and confirmed travel documents for return or onward travel following your stay in the Republic. Visitors wishing to apply for a Philippines tourist visa can do so at either a consulate or embassy in their own country or online by visiting the government’s official website at www.immigration.gov.ph.

Those who decide to apply for a visa on arrival in the Philippines at a consulate or embassy should get in touch in person to find out the latest requirements and to make an appointment. Once the application and relevant documents have been submitted and approved, they will be processed. If everything is in order, you will be able to collect your passport with a Philippines visa affixed to it. Applicants should allow between two and ten business days for a Philippines tourism visa to be issued. However, it is always a good idea to apply well in advance of your intended travel date and check the latest requirements to enter Philippines before doing so. If you choose to apply for a holiday visa Philippines online or at an embassy or consulate, current entry requirements for Philippines require that all visitors register at the eTravel portal: https://etravel.gov.ph/. This should be done within 72 hours before arrival or departure. This is not an application for a visa, but rather a travel requirement for all visitors to the country. The process is straightforward but ensure that all information you provide is accurate or errors here could result in problems for you with the immigration police on arrival in the Philippines. Once the application is submitted and reviewed, an eTravel PDF document will be sent to you via email that can be printed off or saved on your phone to be shown on arrival or departure. NOTE: the eTravel registration process is FREE. Any charge being made indicates you are on a fraudulent website. Check here for further information: https://etravel.gov.ph/frequently-asked-questions.

Here is a checklist of the documents required for a Philippines tourist visa:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months after the date of entry into the Philippines that has two blank pages in it for the Philippines tourist visa and any other official stamps. It is a good idea to have photocopies of the ID pages as well as any previous visas for the Philippines.
  • A completed Philippines Visa Application Form. This can be picked up at an Embassy or Consulate or downloaded and printed from the government website.
  • Passport-sized photos (35mm x 45mm) in color on a white background. These must be no older than three months with your face facing the camera with a neutral expression without glasses or headgear.
  • Proof of confirmed return or onward travel booking.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay in the Philippines.
  • Proof of accommodation, such as a hotel reservation, or a letter of invitation if you intend to stay with friends.
  • Payment of the Philippines tourist visa fee.
  • Although not one of the requirements for entering Philippines, it is recommended that you take out comprehensive health insurance and travel insurance is always a good idea too.
