If you are thinking about traveling to Cambodia among the first questions to spring to mind, along with where to visit and what to pack, will probably be what the necessary visa requirements for travel to Cambodia are and how easy it is to obtain a Cambodia visa on arrival. At Secret Retreats we are experts in curating journeys throughout Asia and are constantly reviewing the ever-changing visa rules for each country. There are various Cambodia travel requirements as well as several visa options, but for those planning a vacation to Cambodia please bookmark this page to keep up to date on the requirements for a Cambodia tourist visa on arrival and the Cambodia tourist e-Visa. The basic requirements for the two options the same. Most importantly, you will must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months following the date you enter the Kingdom, and which has no missing pages and has not been damaged in any way. Remember too that if you plan on applying for a visa on arrival at the airport or at a border crossing, your passport will need at least two blank pages for your visa sticker. You will also need to be a citizen of a country that is eligible for the type of visa you are applying for.
Cambodia Visa on ArrivalA Cambodia visa on arrival is available to citizens from all countries with the exception of Afghanistan, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Nigeria. All applicants must have a valid passport with at least 2 blank pages (for the visa sticker) and the passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of arrival in Cambodia. A Cambodia visa on arrival is granted only at the airports and land border crossings as listed. You are also required to supply 1 passport photo (2inches by 2inches) that has been taken in the past six months along with an accurately completed immigration form (forms are available at the airport and border crossing). Present your documents at the ‘Apply Visa’ counter, and once all documents and Cambodia travel requirements have been approved and you have paid for the visa fee (USD 30) you will receive your passport with a full-page Visa Sticker that permits you to stay in the Kingdom for a maximum of 30 days. If you wish to remain in Cambodia for more than 30 days, you will need to contact a Cambodian Embassy or Consulate.
Cambodia Tourist e VisaIf you would prefer having your visa requirements for travel to Cambodia sorted before you arrive, a Cambodia tourist e visa is a great choice. Convenient and easy to arrange, the Cambodian e-visa can be obtained from the official government website here: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/ As with the Cambodia visa on arrival, a clean, undamaged passport with no missing pages that is valid for at least six months after the date you intend to arrive in Cambodia is essential. You will need at least one blank page for your visa sticker. A Cambodia tourist e visa allows the holder to remain in the country for a maximum of 30 days on a single entry. Applying is a relatively simple process. Once you have filled out the online application form you will be asked to review the information you have supplied and pay a (non-refundable) fee. If your application is successful, you should receive an email containing your Cambodia tourist e visa within 1 to 3 working days from date of application. You can also check your application status, change your travel information, and download your e visa certificate from the https://www.evisa.gov.kh/check_change option on the website. On receipt of your Cambodia tourist visa, print it out, and you are ready to go. It is important to note that your e Visa is only valid for entry to Cambodia within 90 days following the date of issue of the visa and is a single-entry visa. This means you will have to reapply once you leave the Kingdom if you wish to revisit. Although there are options for extending your visa, this cannot be done via the website, and you should contact the Immigration Department at a Cambodian Consulate or Embassy for more information. If you are traveling with children, they will each need their own visas if they are traveling on their own passports. Children under the age of 18 cannot apply for an e visa, so parents will need to apply on their behalf. If you are traveling to Cambodia overland via Laos, Vietnam, or Thailand it is important you check to see if you can use your e visa at your chosen entry point as not all crossings support the system.
