IMPORTANT! New Rule Affecting ALL Travellers to Indonesia Effective from August 27th 2024
All travellers entering Indonesia (including aircrew) are now required to complete an online health declaration form. The form MUST be completed PRIOR to arriving in Indonesia. The form can be found and completed here - https://sshp.kemkes.go.id/ .

Here at Secret Retreats we pride ourselves on being the Asia Experts, helping 1000s of travellers a year to plan and book their holidays in Indonesia and across Asia and it all starts with up to the minute advice on Indonesia tourist entry requirements and answering the most common tourist visa questions such as is a visa needed for Bali. An archipelago of around 17,000 islands, Indonesia is open to tourism year-round and provides both Indonesia visas on arrival (VOA) and e-visas on arrival (e-VOA) to international visitors under a variety of conditions which we will keep regularly updated on this page. As to the commonly asked question of is a visa needed for Bali, you simply need an Indonesia tourist visa to visit Bali or any of Indonesia’s 17,000 islands.

A valid Indonesia tourist visa gives you access to the whole archipelago. Tourist visas are typically issued for stays of up to 30days (some tourist visas can be extended beyond 30days) and are valid for use within 90days from date of issue. The basic requirements for all forms of tourist visa to Indonesia are a valid passport with a minimum of 6months validity (counting the 6 months validity from the date you leave Indonesia) and a confirmed outbound ticket (flight or boat) from Indonesia. Remember also, many immigration police worldwide do not take kindly to passports that have been damaged in any way (blurred and warped from being wet, rips on any pages, any pages missing) and if you present a passport on arrival that has been damaged you may be refused entry. Take care of your passport and get a new one before travelling if it ever becomes damaged in any way. Additionally, Indonesia tourist entry requirements for all forms of tourist visa include a Customs Declaration on arrival. This is an online form that you complete online and on successful completion of the form the webpage generates a QR code which the customs officers will ask to see as you exit the baggage hall. It is advisable to complete the customs declaration form in advance of your arrival in Indonesia, forms can be completed up to 4days prior to your arrival date in Indonesia. Only one form per couple/family travelling together is required. You can access the customs declaration form for Indonesia tourist entry requirements here - https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/ and you can complete up to 4 days in advance of your arrival (advisable to complete before your arrival).

New Indonesia Bali entry requirements have been announced, commencing on February 14, 2024. All international visitors travelling to Bali will be subject to a new ‘Tourist Levy’ on arrival. This new levy is a one-time fee of 150,000 IDR (approx 10USD) that is collected at entry points to Bali (airports and seaports). Travelers are encouraged to settle this payment via the Love Bali website https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id prior to their arrival. Upon payment, a tourism levy voucher will be sent via email, and tourists should store it on their smartphones for scanning at checkpoints in Bali Airport and seaports as proof of payment.

Indonesia Visa Entry Requirements – Visa On Arrival (VOA)

For the Indonesia visa entry requirements for a Visa On Arrival (VOA) you will need a passport (per person arriving with you in Indonesia) that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of your departure from Indonesia, a confirmed outbound flight or boat from Indonesia, and a completed customs declaration form. The fee for the Indonesia visa on arrival is IDR 500,000 per person and can be paid in a variety of currencies and by credit card if you prefer. Payment for the Indonesia visa on arrival is made at the dedicated counter for Visa on Arrival, they will then put the visa stamp in your passport and hand you a receipt, you then present your passport, receipt and boarding pass to the Immigration Police who will stamp your visa valid. You are then free to retrieve your baggage and enter Indonesia for a stay of up to 30days – remember to prepare your Customs Declaration QR Code to show the customs officer as you pass the customs desk. If you prefer to avoid queues on arrival you can apply for an e-Visa in advance of your arrival, we cover that Indonesia visa in the next section.
