This is my second stay at Satri House, the most beautiful hotel in and around Luang Prabang. With lovely gardens and passages that open onto lily ponds and out of the way pavilions, the colonial French buildings, rooms and hallways are filled with Buddhist statues and Chinese porcelain. My room had a deliciously comfortable king bed all the hot water you need and was kept spotless and fragrant by the wonderful hotel staff who serve excellent breakfasts (my favorite: rice noodle soup with pork), delicious luncheon salads by the pool and surprisingly good French dinners served with drinkable wine at the right temperature! This is the place to stay if you’re going to the fantastic Luang Prabang Film Festival in early December or want to avoid the tourist crowds in the Old Town, just 15 minutes away on foot or 5 if you borrow a bike from the hotel. This is where I’ll be staying with my friends during the LPFF in 2017. Satri House is a wonderful hotel, one of my favorites in Southeast Asia.
