“””The Blue Mansion”” was built by a very wealthy Chinese businessman in the late 19th / early 20th century, Cheong Fact Tze himself. There is a wealth of information about the house on hand, including a small interpretive display and guided tours. The house was restored by heritage architects over 5 or 6 years in the 1990’s when it was in danger of being torn down. The small courtyards are a great place to lounge and soak up the atmosphere.
Location is good – nearby Chinatown and the waterfront. Staff were very helpful and I was regularly given a friendly greeting by Shiro at the reception desk.
There is a food court next door which makes a bit of noise at night but it didn’t bother me much.
