This is a wonderful oasis of an hotel in one of China’s most impressively preserved walled cities. Really beautiful rooms, with a lovely common living area, immaculately kept, elegantly decorated. The food (and local wine!) was delicious and the staff very polite, attentive and helpful. You feel as though you are living in one of Zhang Yimo’s earlier historical films (without the drama!). If there was a sixth star, I would have given it!
