MesaStila: "A hidden treasure"
MesaStila wellness spa is an ideal getaway from the daily routines. The environment is pleasant, the view is gorgeous (I got a direct view of mount Telamaya from my villa), both the management and the crew are fully client service oriented and there are ample of activities prepared for guests throughout the days to keep us occupied, and the daily yoga classes is the winner for me.Slow Villas and Spa: "Schöne Villas super Personal"
"Very beautiful villas with private pool and top breakfast. Breakfast is brought to the villa. The location is seeking super man is anywhere fast with the hotel's bike. In addition, there are subtle fruit juices and iced coffee .... Always happy again. Thank you "Tugu Bali: "Traditional old world Balinese style hotel"
"Drive through traditional villages and rice fields. Only 30 minutes from Seminyak. It is a lovely drive and sometimes people want to see the rice fields without spending a day driving to Ubud. Arrive at Tugu, lovely old world traditional hotel for a nice lunch. A couple of hours of your time well spent. Relaxing, peaceful and educational. "Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "OMG"
I cannot say enough good things about the Golden Buddha Beach Resort. I wanted a beach hotel that was secluded, just-the-right-amount-of-rustic, stylish, and on a deserted beach. We got it! The hotel’s website is intelligently discrete but its description is correct. Highlights: meeting the hotel manager (Massi), the hotel's French owner (so friendly!), the New Years Eve dinner buffet, and the massage. The only recommendation I would make: the main dishes at lunch and dinner could benefit from a vegetable side dish; vegetable side dishes should be offered on the menu; the pricing of food could be a tad more reasonable.Satri House: "Warm and welcoming staff"
Initially a little complicated to understand the various buildings in this lovely garden, but everything was so conveniently located in this beautiful property and lovely garden. It felt very much like a large family house and the staff were gentle, welcoming and very very accommodating. We were lulled into the Loatian mellow style in comfort and beauty.Glenburn Tea Estate: "Relax and enjoy the views"
"Its a long and winding steep hill that takes you to this idyllic location. The rooms are wonderful and in keeping with the location. The views are stunning and its is a wonderful place to relax, that said don't miss a trip to Darjeeling a fabulous and busy town. I'd take a day to see it. You can also enjoy a massage. I took a walk into the village and it was great to see. Room Tip: Most rooms are great but I'd try and avoid the room off the main lounge."The Island Lodge: "Just Perfect!"
"I stayed 2 nights with my family for a week end away from Saigon. Staff and owners are very nice and friendly. The restaurant provides good French food. The swimming is awesome. Room has a balcony with view to the river, you can see beautiful sunset. Thanks Michel and Françoise, we will come back..."Blackitch Artisan Kitchen: "Unique experience"
"Blackitch is unique. This restaurant must be booked a month in advance - the reason... There are three tables and everything is absolutely awesome. Chef Black creates a new menu every day. Each course is made from ingredients that are fresh... Either imported scallops from Japan flown in, or a selection of greens that are perfectly ripe from the local farm. So don't expect consistency - you will have a new experience with every course, and with some you may like and others not - but each course is made by a master painter experimenting with the wide variety of foods available. Chef Black creates each of the six courses table side and then explains in English or Thai why and how he put together the dish. There were three of us dining. We all choose different courses as our favourite dish - which is testament to the chef's versatility and style. Desert is made from the downstairs kitchen. If you are lucky, you might also get to try the house made plum wine - which was superb with desert. I expect one day the ""kitch"" will be expanded into a Michelin star restaurant - so be sure to book here before that happens. You will never forget the experience of being totally spoiled in this globally unique restaurant."Tugu Bali: "Traditional Indonesian colonial style hotel with interesting antique collection"
"Cangu is the new up and coming area in Bali. Now that Seminyak is getting too crowded Cangu starts developing. The Tugu hotel was visionary when it got build 20 years ago. It was the first hotel to set up shop in Cangu and it has a location right at the beach. It is a not a modern style hotel, but a classic Indonesian style hotel build like a colonial building with hardwood flooring and a dark wooden interior. Everything from the light switches to the taps in the bathroom is old looking. I doubt there is any other hotel in Bali that comes close in colonial looks and feel. Room 206 we stayed in was part of a house, which had inside and outside areas. We stayed at the top floor which had views over the garden towards the beach. Below us was room 106 which would not have these views. There were also amazing views of the lotus flower filled pond which had wooden walkways crossing it to link to the honeymoon suite. When we entered we were amazed about the huge open space entrance hall which had a huge wooden statue of a Garuda bird. The hotel is full of Indonesian antiques, with the owner collecting these over his lifetime and displaying them in his hotels. The service in this hotel is excellent with the Balinese people being ever so friendly to assist you. The hotel also has a large grass area which connects to the beach. It is full of statues, beds to chill out on, and at night it is beautifully candle lit with hundreds of candles. This is the perfect place to chill out and watch the sunset. In the mornings you can eat breakfast here as well and this is something I would certainly recommend. The hotel has 2 restaurants, one doing good Indonesian fare. You can also do an Indonesian style cooking class which we did. They have also recently opened the Ji restaurant, a Japanese restaurant which is located in a 300 year old Chinese building which was dismantled in Java and shipped to Bali. They do excellent sushi here, which not many places in Bali do. There is no kids menu here but they can order food from the Indonesian restaurant which does have a kids menu. Outside there is a decent size pool which has a part that is 2 foot deep, excellent for smaller children, and a 5 foot deep area. There is no barriers between these areas, so keep minding the small ones. This is a hotel is OK for children, there is no kids club here and the pool is not necessarily suited for really small children. You go to this hotel to feel part of Indonesia's history. It has been done exceptionally well. I would say go sooner rather than later before Cangu gets fully build up. We noticed a hotel being build right on the back of this hotel, planning rules in Bali are almost non existent. The Tugu was building a large net for climbing plants to provide the necessary privacy."The Island Lodge: "What a fantastic find"
This place is amazing. The rooms, gardens, views, food, and above all the staff are amazing. I'm happy to have found it and sad I wasn't there loger than one night. There's not much to do, but if you're looking for Vietnamese hospitality with a touch of French luxury, go here.
