The Village House: "An amazing place – absolultely beautiful and run by the loveliest people"
"The Village House is an easy and traffic-free 40-45 minute drive from Kuching at the foot of Mount Santubong. It's absolutely beautiful - it's clear the owners have put tremendous thought and effort into creating a relaxing little oasis, and they've accomplished as much. The grounds are beautiful - very green and very relaxing with a luxury, boutique-y feel - when you see it, you can't believe how little they charge to stay here! The rooms are immaculate with gorgeous four-poster beds and well thought-out décor. The hotel is really, really gorgeous, but the highlight is the service - they went WAY above and beyond anything I've ever experienced. We forgot a backpack, so the owner lent us one - and not only that, but very kindly stocked it with bug spray and band-aids for our climb up Santubong! Then, when we got a little stranded and couldn't get a taxi back, the hotel chef came to pick us up - couldn't believe how helpful they were. We did two activities while we were here (climbed Santubong and a day at Bako) and they organized everything for us at VERY reasonable prices. We spent no time at all making our own arrangements, which made the weekend super enjoyable and relaxing. I couldn't recommend this place more highly. We've been to the Kuching area three times and this is by far and away the best place we've stayed - and in all my travels, the best customer service I've ever received from a hotel! "The Twelve Hotel: "Wonderful hotel"
Beautiful rooms and amazing breakfast, with owners and staff who are very welcoming, attentive and helpful. We loved our stay and will definitely come back if we are in Bangkok again. Highly recommended!Samanea Beach Resort: "Absolutely Perfect"
"Wonderful hotel, we extended our stay from 2-4 nights. The grounds are beautiful, large swimming pool and set on the ocean accessible by private jetty. The rooms (or suites) were spacious, exceptionally clean, with gorgeous and comfortable 4 poster beds with mosquito nets. The barroom is again spacious, the big surprise was the large adjoining outdoor area with open shower and oversized round rock bathtub. The rooms had adjoining outdoor areas with comfortable chairs and table were you can relax or dine also included a hammock. The staff were wonderful, would bring our meals and drinks to the beachside cabanas or while we were swimming in the pool. Food at the restaurant was good quality and they made excellent coffees. My only suggestion would be some stand up paddle boards or kayaks as the water was so calm it would be perfect. Whilst at the higher end of the hotel market in Kep, price was very reasonable. A place suitable for all travellers, families, couples and friends also solo if your looking for some serenity."Satri House: "Perfect. bliss"
"Nothing to add really to the other reviewers. This place is splendid with style and characters, quiet because a bit away from the main road. Will absolutely return. Would only say that breakfast service is a bit difficult - you have to order piecemeal (or anyway, that's what our waitress did). Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"Nam Bo Boutique Hotel: "The sort of place where an author could hide away and write a best seller!"
"This is a simply appointed, French influenced, comfortable and very convivial Boutique Hotel with 9 spacious suites just across the road, pier and gardens from the Mekong. Actually, the establishment is more of a restaurant than an hotel because the lower two floors are given over to everyday dining and the rooftop is host to L'Escale, a discreet eatery offering more sophisticated fare. It's also serves Breakfast to guests. Watching early morning activity on the river, we agreed with fellow guests that both breakfast and view were stunning. The two lower restaurants were constantly busy however the sounds of diners having fun did not reach our rooms on the upper floors. You can't please everybody all the time of course and doubtless some will want plushier surroundings, however for us Nambo met key criteria for the Delta: Cool, Quiet, Tasty, Friendly and Reasonable! Internet trouble: no problems; no fuss - Receptionist showed up with a dedicated router - Service with a friendly smile!"Le Passe-Temps: "Little French Paradise"
"During out stay in a close lodging we came here regularly for family lunch and dining by the beach in this little paradise. Very nice food clearly ahead of anything around with variety. Green curry - my benchmark - is very well cooked. Delicious Paneng and TKK. Warm and friendly service. Kids friendly - can spend hours chasing hermit crabs next to you without bothering. Beach and horizon view at high tide is the cliche you are looking for, quietly sipping your chilled Chardonnay while waiting for your starter of fresh spring rolls, feet in the sand and sound of waves in the ears. Also spent Xmas Dinner. Nice buffet in family spirit in a welcoming atmosphere. For those who: - look for a nice lunch/dinner in Krabi far from the crowd. - have a sense of elite and exclusivity without superfluous sophistication. - are not afraid of being surrounded by (quiet and not too vocal) French. - don't mind a slight communautarian skew - are OK to pay more to get more. Still overall very reasonable."Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Magical Place, Living History"
"This was the second time at CFTM. The last was 15 years ago, and it was a much smaller operation (I don't believe the backyard and pool were in operation back then and it had fewer staff), but it has lost none of its charm. The house itself is absolutely magical, a perfectly restored and preserved piece of Penang history, and it's an amazing privilege to be able to stay there. The staff are wonderful, and little touches like personal notes and gifts of sweets make the stay even more charming. I will make a point of staying here every time I come to Penang, and I will be back a lot sooner next time. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple"Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Magical"
"Stayed for five nights in the Escoy suite, wow what an amazing room. This is one of eighteen rooms at the Blue Mansion. The hotel is a Woking museum with much care taken for the least intrusion of guests. Take the free tour it is so informative...we did this on the first morning and it definitely helped us appreciate just were we where staying!! The staff were amazing,so professional, curtious and helpful. Breakfast is a delight with a host of delicious food on offer and held in beautiful surroundings. The whole ambience at the Blue Mansion is a joy to behold. Near to all the attractions Georgetown has to offer. Room Tip: Lower floor away from food court next door if you prefer quieter rooms"Rakkojae Seoul: "Amazing Hanok Stay!"
My wife and I were really hoping to find a great, traditional Hanok style hotel and the Rakkojae exceeded our expectations. The grounds are beautiful and kept up well. The room was spotless as well as the bathroom. The manager was very friendly and helpful. He cooked us a delicious western-style breakfast, which we ate outside on the porch overlooking the courtyard. The location is conveniently located near Bukchon and other popular palaces. There are a few delicious food options nearby on the street behind the hotel. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a tranquil and relaxing vacation. We hope to return!!!Reverie Siam: "Exceeded high expectations"
"This is a gem of a hotel. An oasis in an oasis. Visually pleasing from the very first sighting. The hotel is just 10 minutes away from the small airport (no noise issue - there are only two flights a day at this airport!) and though one drives through some uninspiring immediate surroundings, once you enter the hotel, it is pleasing to all the senses. The garden and all the individual fittings reflect the detailed care and attention of the brother/sister/brother-in-law team. The food, which leans heavily towards Mediterranean is a match for any restaurant in Bangkok, the drinks are good value at 1/2 to 1/3 of equivalent Bangkok hotel price and the live music with alternating crooners are absolutely superb. Good pool and excellent care and attention by the entire staff. Easy lift in the hotel's Tuk tuk to the town's delights. Perfect."
