Heritage and cultural luxury
“Built around 1840 and now providing public accommodation, this is the luxury with character missing in today’s 5 (or more) star hotels. From the old fashioned door key to the huge rooms furnished to transport you back in time, the centre open courtyard with photos of those from the past or the ‘day beds’ along […]
A special experience
This was I think my favourite hotel ever. It is beautiful, it is well run, it is well-located, its existence is crucial to the history and culture of Penang. The restoration is superb. It was a joy and privilege to stay here.
Pretty as the pictures
We stayed here two nights rather than the three scheduled because of a change in itinerary. Room was gorgeous, pool and gardens the same. Probably the best breakfast we had throughout our stay in Malaysia (mostly in Borneo). Front desk staff helpful in answering our questions, set up a day long tour with local guide, […]
Beautiful Place, Great Staff
“The hotel is just beautiful. Definitely take the free tour! We stayed in “”Escoy”” and our room was amazing and very comfortable!! There were interesting snacks & drinks provided. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. The pool was the perfect afternoon break between long walks around. The breakfast was very good.”
Incredibly beautiful hotel!
My boyfriend and I stayed at The Blue Mansion for two nights. The rooms were really comfortable, with a good bed and pretty bathroom. The interior of the hotel was incredibly atmospheric and beautiful – like you made a time travel back in time. Also the breakfast included some really yummy options and we really […]
Feels like staying in a 19th century building
The property still retains its original feel, as the owners have used professional building conservation methods to restore the building instead of totally revamping the interior in accordance to modern interior design concepts. Recommend to attend the daily guided tours to know more about the history of the building and its 1st owner, Cheong Fatt […]
An elegant return to old Penang; atmospheric and fantastically restored. A very private retreat.
One of the most dramatically-scened hotels we’ve ever visited, and we are seasoned travelers. Conjures Penang’s history as a wealthy, multicultural trade hub, with relics from Cheong’s family. Don’t miss the tour.
A unique experiece
The Blue Mansion was a wonderful, unexpected experience, a beautifully restored house with a calm and quiet environment. Large comfortable room, good choice of breakfasts and delicious food and good service in the Indigo restaurant. It is well worthwhile doing one of the tours to learn about the fascinating history given by a very entertaining […]
Beautiful, cared for property
What a beautiful mansion and a fantastic guide. There are 3 tours a day (11am, 2:30pm and 3:30pm), which means the tour is busy (the only way to see the mansion) but also the guide knows exactly what she’s talking about and is fantastic! Our guide, Pat, was super informative and also a lot of […]
Back to the past

Perfect choices of breakfast…nice athmospheric restaurant with french taste of kitchen!! A kind of feeling if you ‘d stay in a museum! […]
