Oasis in Seoul

A wonderful experience of traditional Korean culture and hospitality. Gracious, generous service, beautiful ambience and superb breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We thank them again.

Ticked all the boxes for us

“Thank you Mr Kim for a wonderful stay in your beautiful 130 year old Korean house. After visiting the National Folk Museum (15 minute walk), I felt like we were staying in one of their exhibits. Just the same – amazing. The location at Jongno-gu was perfect as we are into history so we could […]

Beautiful hanok

I stayed here for 3 nights. The hostess and Kim, hanok manager, were very nice and warm-hearted people. I would recommend this place to travelers who seek traditional hanok to stay. My tour guide told me other hanoks are small compared to Rakkojae.

Amazing Hanok Stay!

My wife and I were really hoping to find a great, traditional Hanok style hotel and the Rakkojae exceeded our expectations. The grounds are beautiful and kept up well. The room was spotless as well as the bathroom. The manager was very friendly and helpful. He cooked us a delicious western-style breakfast, which we ate […]

Hidden Gem

“This was truly a hidden gem! Beautiful Hanok with modern amenities in a tucked away quiet neighbourhood yet very close ( 8 minute walk) to subway, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. The grounds are truly magnificent! we really felt like we were back in time… so serene. We chose the traditional Korean breakfast and are so […]

Really quite perfect

There is really nothing to fault with Rakkojae. The rooms and their surrounds are quite beautiful – a pocket of timeless serenity in this busy city. The service is perfectly judged – always helpful, never intrusive. Both the Korean and Western breakfasts were good and substantial. We found it wonderfully quiet but, given thin walls/doors, […]

Hanok Stay with modern conveniences

We visited Seoul as a family reunion. Rakkojae was within walking distance to The Blue House, the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Buckchon Village, Jogyesa Temple, Insadong, and lots of Michelin rated restaurants. The staff and Mr. Kim, our host/concierge was very helpful with recommendations of what to do, where to eat, arrange taxi rides, etc. […]

Perfect last 2 nights in Seoul at this hidden gem

“I stumbled upon RakKoJae as I was searching for unique experiences in Seoul. Sure enough, staying at RakKoJae was one of the highlights of my first trip to South Korea. I thought spending my last 2 nights here before I fly home would wrap up my travel great, and it did. Now where do I […]

Traveling back in time

“Very beautiful traditional Hanok guesthouse. Staying here really is an unforgettable experience. Especially at night when the place is beautifully lit, it almost seems like a fairy tail. Sleeping on the ‘ondol’ heated floor with Korean-style bedding may not be for everyone (I personally had some trouble sleeping on the floor), but this sure is […]
