The Cabochon Hotel: "Elegant hideaway"

Review by: ColinM312 | Source: Trip Advisor
Loved staying in this hotel. Situated at the end of a lane off busy Sukumvit, it is a quiet oasis, tastefully decorated in colonial Asian style. The staff are warm and friendly. The rooms are large and comfortable. There is a rooftop pool with good views. The breakfast is very good. Highly recommended

Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "One of the most relaxed places we’ve stayed for a while"

Review by: JGJ_L_BE | Source: Trip Advisor
We spent six nights here in December 2015 and loved this place. It's not super luxurious (no aircon (not needed, great sea breeze!), no fridge in room, no wifi in room (but in reception and restaurant)), but very comfortable, and above all, just very relaxing. Our room ("baan") was right on the beach. It was great sitting our our open first floor porch reading and just watching the ocean. The 12km long beach was mostly deserted and simply stunning. The restaurant had a very relaxed and familiar atmosphere, beautifully designed with super friendly and efficient staff, dogs and cats lazily hanging out. The food is great, freshly prepared from local ingredients (locally made coconut icecream is wow!) that are freshly delivered from local producers every day. The various tours on offer are very much recommended, we loved the market visit, trying out local street food delicacies, and the island tour, exploring its unique ecosystem. This island and its resort are very special, way off the beaten track, and it hopefully stays that way!

Tugu Bali: "Hidden Gem in Bali"

Review by: i_am_a_polar_bear | Source: Trip Advisor
"We stayed at Hotel Tugu Bali for 2 nights and it was exceptional. The hotel is located in a very popular area of Bali (Canggu) with great night life, beaches, and surfing. The staff was very attentive and hospitable. In particular, Putu, was very helpful at reception. He would go above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. He would always greet us by name with a smile and arrange everything for us including breakfast, spa appointments, a shuttle to the airport, a tour of the hotel and even historical info on the antiques and artifacts on display.. The hotel is very unique in that it has a big emphasis on the atmosphere, decor, and mood. There is a large collection of antiques, but don't think that this means the hotel feels old. All the amenities are modern but the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a tropical paradise. This is not your standard ""cookie-cutter"" style hotel. We stayed in the Dedari suite which is on the ground level. It is very spacious. It has its own entrance to a front garden before entering the room itself. It almost has the feel of a stand-alone villa. Unique features of this suite include a private plunge pool and an outdoor washroom. The bed is the most comfortable I have EVER slept in. It is bigger than a normal north american king size. I wanted to take it home. The breakfast options are amazing. And we had the option of eating anywhere on the premises. First day we ate on a raised cabana overlooking the beach. Second day we ate on a balcony overlooking the gardens. While in Bali we stayed at 3 different hotels in Uluwatu, Seminyak, and finally here at Tugu in Canggu. By far, staying at Tugu was the best. Highly recommend that anyone reading this should stay at Tugu Hotel. You will not regret it!"

Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Relaxing Stay"

Review by: Ipsita A | Source: Trip Advisor
"Me and my husband stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights over the good Friday weekend. Our pick up from the airport was arranged by the hotel and it was done in a timely manner. We stayed in the seashell villa with a private pool. Rooms are spacious and having a private pool is def an added advantage. They have a really good infinity pool with a beautiful view of the sea. The in-house resturant has a good selection of Thai food options. We also tried the Sunday brunch which was a bit pricey, but had a great spread. They also have a good gin collection. Last but not the least, staff is extremely helpful and friendly. While the place is away from fisherman's village, it's easily accessible via taxi even at night. The only negative aspect was that the wifi connectivity in the room was patchy. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple"

Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Authentic Khmer dishes in wonderful setting"

Review by: Springhil | Source: Trip Advisor
Well reviewed by many travel writers, we chose this and booked months ago as it is very popular and the owners do close the restaurant for weeks at a time. Tasting menus A and B which you can try one of each as a couple - superb. We chose the fan cooled upper floor rather than the AC ground floor that catered more for those that wanted a modern restaurant. With the windows open even on a rainy evening, it was fresh and lush. Food was fabulous and really tested our understanding of Cambodian food. We were welcomed by Carole and her chef husband visited each table when he brought the fruit selection that ended each menu and you had the chance to talk to - a lovely personal touch.

SANDAT GLAMPING TENTS: "Lovely place"

Review by: Humberone50 | Source: tripadvisor.com
"I stayed here for 3 nights with my two girls aged 3 and 5 and husband in one of the tents. Even though we had young children I didn't feel that anyone minded as it is/feels like a quiet retreat. Sublime surroundings made my stay feel like a real treat. The owners were staying on site when we were there and did introduce themselves which was nice. The tents are bug proof if you keep it all closed up and having a glass door made it feel very room like. At night you go to sleep listening to frogs and crickets... very romantic. You need some strong Deet thou ! We had a meal or two here and a couple in town, the transfer is around 15 mins through beautiful rice fields and over a couple of ravines. We had a free massage as we booked directly with the website, I paid in advance for the tent via the website. Lovely people, very nice manager. Thank you Sandat for a memorable stay. "

Mie Cafe: "Really really good"

Review by: tjwb | Source: Trip Advisor
Went on the recommendation of a local and were blown away by the quality of the cooking here. We weren't surprised to hear that the patron/chef had trained in a Michelin 2 Star in Switzerland. The food shames many one star restaurants I've eaten in elsewhere. We both started with scallop tartare with seaweed and heart of coconut. I followed with Fish Amok and S with a risotto. All just superb. We are going back tonight. Do not miss if you are in town.

Locavore: "Impressive servings"

Review by: gosenturk | Source: Trip Advisor
Going to Locavore is like being at one of your favorite high-end restaurants. They offer food served in ways that you don't consider yourself. They played with ingredients and served it in their lovely place in Ubud. I was surprised by the match between the cocktails and food + the surprise snacks that were served. We recommend going all-in if you visit this place.
