The Village House: "A little bit of Borneo"

"We visited for 2 nights from Kuala Lumpur to see a little of Borneo. The booking process was really smooth, and we had lots of advice on which trip to book. We arrived late on a Friday and the taxi the hotel had arranged was waiting for us to whisk us to the hotel. About an hours drive. We booked the suite which is a large room, decorated in a local style but all the mod cons, so to speak. Comfortable large bed with a large screen TV at the base. Good coffee machine, and large bathroom. Everything we could need. Saturday morning we went to Bako National park with a guide arranged by the hotel – we had a great day, he knew where to find all the local species of monkey! Saturday evening we had the 8 course tasting meal, which was delicious and not too much, although we had been walking all day! The beach at the end of the road is worth a stroll along, it is beautiful. As others have said, not somewhere you’d stop to sunbathe. The staff were charming, the bar was a great place to grab a drink before and after dinner. It is a quiet hotel, but it’s perfect for a short break."

The River Resort: "R and R"

I loved the place. It was such a magical place. Beautiful views and the staff were very excellent! They anticipated your every needs you from a free bicycle to use to how you like your food to come out. Loved the place!

Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Stunning Hotel, not to be missed"

We have just left this Hotel after a 3 night stay, and I wish it had been longer. It was beautifully situated at the eastern end of Inle Lake, quiet and well appointed. The staff were very friendly, nothing wa too much trouble and the huts on stilts absolutely perfect. The training school for young people is an excellent idea and prepares them for jobs in the tourist industry in the future. The food was very well prepared and interesting. Can’t fault it and would definitely return if I come back this way in the future.

Mie Cafe: "I would return to Siem Reap just to eat here again! Top, top food!!"

"In short I absolutely loved this restaurant and the food we ate here!! For me our meal here was one the highlights of Siem Reap - possibly better than battling the crowds at some of the temples! In fact it was 7 months ago but I cannot forget how good it was. Probably one of the best meals I ate anywhere this year or ever in SE Asia. Lovely building (traditional wooden house) set in a nice garden. We caught a taxi to get there as was a little out of town but really not far and definitely worth the 5 or so minute ride. We shared starters including yummy scallops but the highlight was the marinated frogs legs that were served perched around the most deliciously garlicky wild mushroom tart. Heaven on a plate! I had the most amazing grilled king or tiger prawns drizzled with curry sauce and rice crackers whilst hubby had their infamous pork ribs with french fries. I wasn't wild about the ribs but hubby loved them and preferred them to my prawns. So happily there was less sharing on that course. For dessert I had Mango Banana Sombai made with the local sombai liquer - looked like mush but tasted divine - no sharing! Hubby had chocolate cake with ice cream. We also had a lovely bottle of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc (Anakena) and I think a cocktail and beer to start. A must go for foodies who appreciate well made food! Would recommend eating slightly earlier than we did as it closes at 9.15pm and was a little quiet by the time we arrived for our 8pm reservation and empty when we left. A 7pm may have been better. Book in advance so you do not miss! Only disconcerting part was eating the delicious frog legs against what I think was the sound of frogs croaking in the garden although we could swear their calls dropped whilst we ate them ;-)"

Rachamankha: "Tranquility"

Rachamankha was wonderful. Very clean rooms, great customer service and extremely quiet. The rooms were big with AC, lots of free bottled water and a hair dryer. Every detail was beautifully thought out. No complaints and I have already recommended it to many friends. I would return for sure.

Misool Eco Resort: "Magic Misool"

"In November/ December 2017 we had the pleasure of experiencing Misool for the first time. Located in the pristine Raja Ampat Coral Triangle, with its glorious corals and bountiful fish, it is the most beautiful marine environment we have ever experienced! Misool caters for professional divers with a well-equipped dive centre, but there are daily excursions for snorkelers such as ourselves and we did not feel deprived or second-class to the divers. Boat-rides to nearby small islands were short 10-minute hops, 20 minutes at most, and the guides were both friendly and professional, pointing out small nudibranches or other items of interest that might otherwise escape our attention.There are turtles, black-tip sharks, big bumphead parrotfish and Napoleon wrasse, large shoals of fusiliers and jacks alongside all the regulars, and we were especially blown away by the psychedelic colourful soft corals. We saw a lot of bigger fish than on snorkeling trips in other locations such as Maldives, Red Sea and Zanzibar, probably due to the fact that Misool has established a no-take zone and rigorously engages local communities about sustainable practices which have allowed marine life to flourish. In addition to these snorkelling boat-trips we spent many hours on the excellent, and extensive, house reef which is easily accessible from the various cottages. Accommodation is excellent, the bedroom in our Tabisasu Villa had a large comfortable bed, more than adequate shelf space, and a mosquito net which was set up every night while we were at dinner, although with air-con and two fans in the bedroom we hardly ever saw a mosquito. Tabisasu also has a spacious lounge room, with numerous plugpoints and a desk where you can check your Go-Pro footage and recharge for the next day. There are spare beds in the lounge if necessary, and even a day-bed on the deck, where you can spend your spare time gazing out onto the water and islands in the distance. Dolphins swim past, turtles pop up, and the water lapping away underneath soothes you to sleep at night. Tabisasu faces the sunrises and we would often be up early to snorkel the coral gardens in front of us before first breakfast. Misool offers a unique meal schedule with an early breakfast before first dive or snorkel then a 2nd breakfast from about 10.00 when you get back. Lunch at 13.00 is followed by a handy afternoon tea with cookies and snacks to keep you going until dinner at 19.00. Misool goes out of their way to accommodate individual diet requirements and as vegetarians we were very well catered for by the attentive and helpful staff. All the staff, from management to restaurant to boat teams to cleaners give personalised friendly attention to your needs, creating a fantastic relaxing ambience to go with the exquisite layout of cottages and facilities. The resort holds around forty visitors which means it does not feel crowded, there is enough space for interaction with others or privacy, as you prefer. The overall standards at Misool are first class, without touristy pretentiousness - even the word “resort” is perhaps an unfair categorization; it is essentially a place for snorkelers, divers and nature-lovers who care about the world, and marine life in particular. The Misool Foundation has a very credible programme of social engagement activities that reflect the highest integrity, and interested parties can obtain a good insight into Misool, its history and programmes through its informative website. Getting to Misool is rather arduous, there is a four-hour speedboat journey to follow the various long flights that get you to Sorong, but the admin team will assist with providing you options, based around 7, 9 or 12 day stays. For us, the overall costs were way above our normal travel budget but for such an enriching and inspiring experience, it was totally worth it."

The River Resort: "An Amazing Resort…we will definitely return!"

My husband, son and I stayed at the River Resort and the hotel and their staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! It was quiet and serene! The food was great! The internet was strong and fast. They have two pools, spa, and rooms overlooking the Mekong. And to top it off they gave us complimentary spa treatments, a sunset cruise, a bottle of wine and provided us with free transport to Wat Temple. Lastly, the service and staff were exceptional! This place is great for singles, couples, or families. We can't wait to return!

4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "My experience at 4river floating lodge"

This hotel is excellent! Staff are very friendly and the view are spectacular! I visit the hotel for 3 days and i would say it was the best 3 day of my life. Everything at 4river is excellent and good price!

Les Maisons d’Itac: "Best place we stayed in the Philippines"

"Me and my gf spent 4 nights at Les Maisons d'Itac. We were supposed to stay for 3, we loved the place so much we decided to stay 1 more night (we couldn't stay longer as the Mayson Ulisse was not available anymore, so we kept our travel plan on). What can we say? Bryan (who spoke italian, we're italians and we have very charming and nice conversations during our stay) has been the perfect host. Always ready to help, charmful and totally welcoming. We booked our trasfers to Bantayan and back to Cebu through him and it was just perfect! The food at the maisons is great, the location awsome. They have an amazing spot for snorkelling just in front of the resort that you can reach in a few mins swimming. What makes this place special (apart from the view, the nature around, the sea) is the SILENCE. In almost a month in the Philippines we never found such a relaxing spot, where you can fall asleep at night hearing at the waves sounds. A true dream come true. If you're looking for a place to stay around Moalboal (it can be reached in 25 minutes scooter ride from the resort, you can rent just asking Bryan) DO NOT HESITATE to book a stay at the Maisons. p.s: say hi to Itac and Stacey for us :) Ciao! Le Calao: "Fabulous!"

Visited on our last night in Luang Prabang and it was the best meal we had there. It was a cold night so we had to wrap up but we had a table with fabulous views over the river. The food and service were superb. Just wish we had discovered it on our first night then we could have visited again!
