Dewakan: "The best restaurant n Malaysia and one of the best in the World"
"Not easy to find, but when you get to this beautiful cosy restaurant, only thing you have to do is ENJOY! I think I had one of the best dinner I ever had... Amazing! So creative, original, tasty, flavored... Chef Darren Deohis a genius! With a great young team around, in the kitchen and also to serve the guests. He prepared us a meal to pare with great Burgundy range, and it was just perfect! All local ingredients, including the best duck I ever had (and I al French, from South West...). This is the place to go (dinner only and not open on Sunday). Don't miss it. For me this may have at least 2 stars in Michelin Guide (3rd star will come with the service)... Just a last word: WOOOOWWWW!"Inle Princess Resort: "Gem of the lake"
"We just returned from a four night stay at the Inle Princess Resort. What a treat! This resort, which sits on the northeast corner of Inle Lake, is locally designed, owned and run. And it shows, from the local crafts that are made on site to the quiet efficiency and welcome of the staff. We arrived via Heho airport by road (about 60-90 minutes and ~$50 US). The road entrance is modest, giving no clue of what lies behind the low key security gate. The grounds are spectacularly but sympathetically landscaped, with stands of bamboo framing lotus filled lagoons. The rooms are absolutely unique in design. You might want to avoid the Mountain rooms only because they are a bit smaller with less spectacular views. Any of the other rooms will exceed your expectations. The dining is lakeside, serving a mix of excellent local and Thai style fare and goreng. The views from the restaurant patio are tranquil, with boats approaching the jetty required to row (almost always Inle leg oar style) with engines off. The pool is otherworldly. We spent a good deal of our time exploring the lake. One of the lessons we learned was that the locally sourced goods in the crafts shop at the Inle Princess are not only superior quality but are priced very fairly. I am lucky to travel widely. The spa is the finest with the kindest and most skillful (Shan) therapists I have encountered. The setting alone will draw you out of your highly strung world. A couple of words of caution to high maintenance travelers. The hot water can run out quickly, so shower efficiently (many rooms have private outdoor showers). And service (e.g. by the pool) can be slower than you will find at Four Seasons. They just don't rush. The food and drinks are wonderful. So relax and enjoy. There is simply nowhere remotely like the Inle Princess. If you are looking for a slice of Myanmarese heaven on earth, this is it. If you are looking for chain resort style service, stay somewhere else."Satri House: "Perfect Respite"
I was visiting Bangkok and wanted a peaceful break. Three days in LPB at Satri House was perfect. The staff -- at reception, restaurant, pool, were all helpful and sweet. Great location for quiet but still so close to the Night Market. Bicycling into town (bike courtesy of Satri) to explore the temples and shopping was fun. Every detail of decor and hospitality are addressed flawlessly. I will go back again, and send friends too. Completely lovely.Tandjung Sari: "Friendly and helpful to our group of eight!"
"We - an extended family group - ended up eating here two nights running. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and provided us a table at short notice. The food was excellent on both occasions and the service charming. The structure of the restaurant is atmospheric and traditional with pipes and piano being played at various stages. We were grateful to the staff who allowed us to have a shower on the second visit before we ate- particularly appreciated as we had been on the beach all day and our next stop was Denpasar Airport for a prolonged flight programme to London Heathrow."Supanniga Luxury Bangkok River Cruises: "A delicious way to ring in a new year!"
The late night champagne cruise to welcome 2018 was great. The "tapas"-like menu was delicious and creative and the champagne, cocktails and service were great, too! My only wish is that there had been some 'kanom' (sweets) at the end.Tugu Malang: "Very Unique Hotel in East Java, Indonesia"
The Hotel Tugu Malang in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, is a perfect way to see the "non-touristy" side of Indonesia, but still experience first class service and one of the most unique properties we have ever stayed at. The hotel is situated in a beautiful mountain town in eastern Java that is very close to the spectacular and often active volcano, Mount Bromo. The hotel offers much, much more however, and is a great way to get a taste of Javanese culture that is sometimes hard to find in big cities like Jakarta. We spent only two nights at this lovely hotel, but will definitely return to continue our exploration of this culturally rich area. The hotel itself is filled with truly exotic works of art and furniture, including Ming Dynasty pieces that would likely be in a carefully guarded museum in the United States. During our stay, we took the "candi" or "temple" tour on the first day, and found it as a great way to view the surrounding countryside, as well as to see some really amazing Buddhist and Hindu temples built in the 1200-1300 AD period. The next morning, we took the traditional market tour and traditional cooking class which was really the highlight of our stay. After getting a personalized tour of a nearby traditional food market with the amazing array of fruits and vegetables native to Java, we finished the tour by preparing three traditional Javanese dishes under the careful supervision of the hotel cooking staff. The dishes turned out perfectly, and opened our eyes to the possibilities of traditional Indonesian recipes. For the quality of the surroundings and service, our stay was significantly cheaper than you will pay in the much more traveled locations like Bali or Jakarta. In short, it was a very unique and enjoyable experience, and probably ranks as our "best ever" hotel experience.Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Incredible Experience, not to be missed"
I loved my time visiting the Inle Heritage House during my stay in Inle Lake. Passionate and talented people doing fantastic work. I enjoyed the cat sanctuary, the architecture and design of the space, the garden and sustainability efforts, and the opportunities for cooking classes... all of this while supporting the local community and hospitality education program. I would recommend a visit to anyone who will be traveling to Myanmar. Please support and enjoy this fantastic organization.Samanea Beach Resort: "Truly relaxing"
"Our 4 night visit to Samanea was perfect in every aspect. Very tranquil surroundings. Villas are large and well equipped. Enjoyed the outdoor bathroom and the 2 resident frogs. Staff cannot do enough to help guests. They are friendly, polite and very efficient. I like that they employ locals. Food was enjoyable and full of flavour. Restaurant service excellent. Staff will set up tables for meals anywhere you wish. By the pool, the beach, the jetty or you can dine in the restaurant. This is truly a place to relax. The hotel can arrange tours or tuk tuk for getting about. We arranged transport from Phnom Penh with private car. The Resort can arrange this for you. Very good driver and well presented and reliable at competitive rate. Driver Tim speaks good english and is helpful and knowledgeable. Would recommend Samanea and hope to return one day."Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Place to relax"
"We went there in Aug . We arrived early and the staff was very accomodative..they gave us room at 7 in the morning.Rooms are clean and have partially open baths, wooden floor and furniture give a elegant look. You can always walk down to beach, though not as good/clean when compared to others in kerala. They have a very good pool with great view of sea.Food is ok ,the chef is always ready for ur wishes. To sum up a good place to detox and relax and spend quality time with family."The Cabochon Hotel and Residence: "Loved everything about the Cabochon"
We stayed here for two nights' stopover from Europe en route to Australia. It was a glorious way to finish a hectic holiday - the spaces are peaceful and beautifully curated, our room was lovely, cool and quiet with large balcony to let the lush warm air in occasionally (aircon was perfect, however) and the shower was amazingly powerful. The staff are kind, warm, super helpful without being pushy, and the food is really excellent - much better than a meal we had at a vaunted restaurant in town. We did not want to leave, and will definitely be back.
