Mie Cafe: "Best meal in Siam Reap"
Siv Pala is a Cambodian chef to watch out for. He trained in Switzerland and has added European technique to Khmer cooking that is fresh and innovative. We tried the highly rated, over rated, very formal Damnak lounge but it pales in comparison. We had both lunch and dinner here the same day because it was so good. We had the gourmet set menu. 5 courses for $24 US but brilliant dishes starting with a shrimp cold starter and the fresh fish soup, then two amazing entrees-a langoustine crepe and an oxtail stew. Both were subtle with rich texture and full of umami. The setting, too, is lovely. Outdoor patio, romantic, opposite of stuffy. Staff were always attentive and the chef, good-ooking per my wife, youngish man of impeccable manners greeted us after dinner. Best meal of our three day stay. Do not miss!Villa Song: "What a wonderful gem of a hotel"
"I stayed in this lovely hotel for three nights and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Let’s start with the property, the Villa is so beautiful and charming. The furnishings are well appointed and the size of the room itself is comfortable and roomy. The bathroom was especially relaxing with everything you would need. The room comes with a complimentary mini-bar that is re-stocked daily and the bed was so comfortable. The grounds are inviting with a super large lap pool and a small but very adequate gym. Start your day with breakfast sitting next to the Saigon River and finish with a cocktail while relaxing next to the river. The staff is superb and very knowledgeable, the manager definitely is of top quality and explains why the staff is the same. They assisted me with booking a tour of the Mekong and I was very satisfied. I will definitely stay at this property on a future visit. If planning a trip to Saigon, definitely stay at the Villa Song as you won’t be disappointed. Make sure you eat as many meals as possible as the it is a gastronomical delight that will leave your palate dancing for days."Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Very lovely hideout"
Beautiful place - if you go there, you never want to leave.... amazing food, great yoga lessons, very friendly staff, excellent food, nice spa. Like Thailand was 30 years ago but better. If you want internet in your room, buy a prepaid card at the airport, wifi only in at the restaurant. Be aware of the monkeys!Dewakan: "Super meal"
"We expected outstanding food and we definitely got it, service was exceptional too, setting very serene and all added to the overall experience, one of delight all round. We even spoke to the chef/owner at the end of the meal and he made the time to speak to us properly and in depth about his concept. This isn't a complaint in the slightest, but the price was so competitive I expected less than I got! For what we got I would have paid rm250 per head and considered it value for money, each dish and snack very well constructed. Looking forward to next visit"Reverie Siam: "My favorite place to stay in Thailand"
"I have been living in Thailand and travelling round the country for over 20 years and this is my favourite place to get away. it is simply magical. When you enter the resort, you get a feeling that it is different from anything thing else you may have visited in Thailand and has a lovely homely and relaxing charm about it. The resort is designed around nature and quality where ever you look. The staff are very dedicated and friendly and the food is something I would expect to find in a 5 Star hotel in Bangkok if you are looking to get away from everything and relax or have a romantic getaway, this place ticks all the boxes."Muang La Lodge: "Super get away."
"Great small lodge right on the river Ou. Indeed the swimming pool is on an island in the middle of the river that you get to via a wooden bridge. Lovely big rooms (somewhat like a Lao 'Tudor' look with all white and dark exposed timbers). Super meals ... dinner is a 5 course degustation. There is a natural hot spring that the locals use, and the lodge has permission to pump from the spring into two huge baths on small towers for the use of guests from 4.30.pm when it is still 42C - let it cool into evening a little! Great local market if you want to rise at 5.30am and have a bit of a stroll into the village. Don't miss a trip to the hill tribes. Loved this place."Le Du Wine Bar & Restaurant: "Another visit, another success!!"
"I have been coming here on and off for a couple of years now and I am yet to be disappointed - this place is just very consistent and you can tell the head chef is actively keeping on top of his game with new creations as the seasons change! Anyone looking for exciting takes on classics, sustainable ingredients cooked with passion in a welcoming environment (and healthy glasses of wine paired) you really can't fault the place! Keep up the great work guys!!"Villa Song Saigon: "Top class"
"We recently stayed at the Villa Song for the first leg of our honeymoon in beautiful Vietnam. After a choice of two rooms, we opted for a suite with balcony overlooking the river at the front of the hotel - what a fab choice! The hotel oozes charm and elegance with stunning French colonial decor and a relaxing pool area away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Food and service is exceptional with a particular thanks to the front of house team and Freddie the restaurant manager who made us feel very welcome. This really is a gem of a hotel..we hope to return again one day."Locavore: "Very nice!"
"Very nice ambience and staff. The food is good (very different) but you expect this difference when you are going to a restaurant that specializes in local food that is not from your country. The only thing I didn't like about this place is that I told them about my ginger allergy before going and until we were there they told me that I could not have almost half of the menu that they prepared and only gave me the option to eat from the vegetarian menu. I told them that i really wanted something with fish and they tell me that they couldn't. Every restaurant that we've been in Asia had given me the option to make similar dishes to the ones in the menu and just without ginger or they even made different sauces and had them before we came in. Besides this, Locavore is a nice and different experience while visiting Ubud. The cocktails were great!"Tugu Malang: "Love this piece of Gem"
My second visit. Staff remembered and adressed me with my name. Arrived 5 mins to high tea but was accommodated. Rooms uniquely decorated. As the common room with peranakan-javanese style furnitures and paintings. ENJOYED SO MUCH....
