Jing’s Residence: "Wonderful stay in Pingyao"

Review by: KarenYfromDenver2016 | Source: Trip Advisor
In keeping with the character of Pingyao, Jing's Residence takes you a step back in time. Beginning with the graciousness of the front desk, the excellence of the dining room and the total comfort of the rooms, guests are treated assortment of teas, dried dates, turn down treats and farewell gifts. I wanted my stay to last forever. This is the place to stay while in Pingyao.

Nimmu House: "Charming, peaceful, warm and stunning"

Review by: 870laurentl | Source: tripadvisor.com
"Difficult to say what is best: the house? the tents? the whole staff? the location? the views? We had an amazingly fulfilling 7-day stay at Nimmu House. Met some great people. Had some great long chats. Had beautiful walks. Even had a very nice bicycle ride. The beauty of the valley and the surrounding mountains, the feeling of equanimity. It is pretty hard to beat such an experience."

Manda De Laos: "Romantic dinner by the pond"

Review by: BeenThereAlready_12 | Source: Trip Advisor
We stayed at Maison Dalabua (same property) and were lucky to get reservations the first night of our stay. Great food (Laotian with a French touch). Good cocktails and all at very moderate prices - maybe not for local standads (one can eat cheaper in town) but considering the quality of food very reasonably priced.

Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "Delightful Period Throw Back"

Review by: RNC C | Source: tripadvisor.com
We wandered down Soi 45 looking for a restaurant that a friend had recommended to us and stumbled on this little gem. We came back and booked a night. The interior design for Cabochon is a throw back to colonial past and it has a delightful old style and authentic ambiance. We loved the service and the traditional Thai/Lao food in the restaurant (the original reason we found Cabochon) was fantastic and we weren't disappointed. Cabochon is a small independent boutique hotel and it basically gets pretty much everything right.

Tugu Lombok: "Seriously Stunning"

Review by: DianeDowntown | Source: Trip Advisor
Truly. If you love architecture and antiques, this place is for you. Around every corner is something beautiful or interesting. We stayed in one of the pool villas and it was gorgeous. The only slight negative was the tiling in the pool could use refurbishment as we were getting a bit of rust coming off them while swimming. The beach is incredible. Clear blue and calm. Perfect for snorkeling.Take the resort's boat to the Gilli Islands. You will not be disappointed. Hearing the call to prayer coming from the many different mosques in the area was unreal. Hearing several muezzin's singing (if that's the right word?) you to early morning prayers is my idea of heaven. Food in the restaurant was great. The resort is so large that we didn't know about the second bar/restaurant until our second night there. There was only one tiny thing that went wrong but I think it needs to be addressed. I came down with some sort of a nasty upper respiratory infection. A doctor was called in and I was given antibiotics. Only problem was, they were the completely wrong drugs. Turns out I had a double ear infection. Had the doctor diagnosed me properly my trip home wouldn't have been so uncomfortable. That being said, I knew something was wrong and on our way to the airport our driver took me to a hospital where I was given heavy duty decongestants that probably saved my ear drums. Huge kudos to him and the lovely doctors and nurses for getting me in and out of there so quickly! Even with this problem it was pretty much a perfect resort experience. We will be back!

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Gastonomic Ecstasy!"

Review by: NJH67 | Source: Trip Advisor
"For the finest of dining experiences in Yangon, Myanmar swing by SEEDS and meet welcoming hosts Lucia and Felix. A perfect lakeside setting with a beautiful garden and hidden table spots giving a wonderfully unique culinary experience. We started with beautifully presented canapés on a marble platter followed by freshly home marinated Norwegian salmon on a celery salad with orange and sour cream. Next up was homemade truffle ravioli on leek with a truffle foam which was simply mouthwatering. The main event was a succulent lamb rack wrapped in Serrano ham and homemade mustard chutney. It was complimented with a green pea mash and lightly topped with a ginger and mint salad. On the side Shan State baby new potatoes tossed with onion and young vegetables to share. I’m not a dessert guy but the handcrafted pieces of art that arrived in front of us didn’t last long! Finally, shoring up the show was a superbly balanced Chapoutier Marius Grenache Shiraz supplied by The Warehouse. The combination of a carefully thought out menu based on the elements of life (water, fire, air and earth), interesting and artistic presentation, the highest quality ingredients ingeniously combined to tantalise the palate in such a beautifully landscaped location would impress even the most demanding of diners. A 'must visit' during a trip to Yangon!"

Samuay & Sons: "The only truly serious food in Udon Thani"

Review by: venividivice | Source: Trip Advisor
"My partner and I have dined at Samuay & Sons half a dozen times since we discovered it almost a year ago. After our first visit I waxed lyrical about the food in a review here, so I won't just repeat myself. Suffice it to say that owner/chefs Num and Joe take the idea of food very seriously indeed, from the sourcing of the best available meats, vegetables, herbs and other ingredients either locally or from specialist sources around the country, to the health benefits of those ingredients, to the flavourful combinations that they dream up, to the creative presentation and plating, and -- at the end of the day -- to the sheer sensory enjoyment of discerning customers. If none of the above appeals to you, and you just want to eat stuff you are used to eating, without any delightful surprises, then don't waste Num and Joe's efforts -- or your own time - just go where you normally hang out and give Samuay & Sons a wide berth. But if you love to be surprised by seriously innovative culinary skills then hasten your way to Ponepisai Road in Udon Thani city and have the best food experience for probably many hundreds of kilometers around. It is beyond me why this restaurant is not rated #1 here on TA, but I guess there will always be punters who come expecting a bog-standard duck laab or som tam and when they can't get it feel cheated. Or the others who think paying 1,000 Baht (my bill on Tuesday) for five plates of the most serious food you'll find north-east of Bangkok too expensive because they are used to eating at Tesco food court or UD Town market. What can I say? A big thank you to Num and Joe who have raised the standard of cuisine in this part of Thailand, and who make my visits to Udon so much more enjoyable!"

The Island Lodge: "Vietnam"

Review by: shanry972 | Source: Trip Advisor
