Bassac Cruises: "Memorable"
Had a fantastic and truly memorable time, the crew couldn't have have done enough for us and beautiful food. Special mentions go out to An and Ngoan. Has stood out as one our best experiences whilst in Vietnam. The Mekong river is amazing, thanks to all involved. The Twelve Hotel: "A confidential charming place to discove"
Go there with confidence .... then can want them big! Doing so may miss the beauty of the place because everything is enjoyable to watch. This cozy and quiet hotel, with human size, deploys nice rooms and excellent taste: no false notes in decoration, nice furniture, nice touches for guests a warm and professional welcome, vast spaces that invite to relax before and / or after a day in the hectic Bangkok. It feels like home, only better because we have nothing else to do but enjoy! Breakfast is a delight (French pastries, etc.), the cleanliness is impeccable. Athy and Sébastien are good advice, in addition to being charming. Thanks to them, we could do many things with ease: many desires and 2 days with 2 children in this huge city. This peaceful place is very well located, quiet. We easily reached the sights, the BTS and the airport. On foot, there you need to eat, drink, etc ... the hotel tells us properly (explanations, plans, councils). We will return without hesitation, longer this time .. .for other chocolate croissants. A Family Reunion conqueredThe Island Lodge: "Excellent stay"
"When searching for a good hotel for a weekend in-between business meetings in Manila and Hanoi, I found the Island Lodge, conveniently near HCMC where I needed to change flights anyhow on my travel to Hanoi. The hotel arranged for transport and I arrived after a 2hr drive from HCMC airport. The lodge is situated on the ""Unicorn Island"" in the Mekong Delta. Owner/manager Michel and team made sure I received a good welcome and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The lodge is in a quiet area with great, comfortable and well equipped rooms. There is a large swimming pool overlooking the river. The restaurant (also used for breakfast) is designed with great care and offers a very good choice of food, both Vietnamese and French. It is a great place to relax for several days or a (long) weekend. I also enjoyed a boat tour to My Tho, a city about 20 mins away from the hotel. The second day of my stay I took a 4 island boat tour which offered a great impression of the Mekong area and islands. In one word: excellent! Will try to visit again soon! Room Tip: There are also 2 bungalows with 2 bedrooms suitable for families"Satri House: "Authentic Experience"
"Satri House delivers on its promise of being ""a historic destination, a unique design"". The original house was run as a hotel since 2002 and was extended in 2008 reflecting the original architecture. We stayed over Songkran for 4 nights and were warmly welcomed by Jacques Mury (General Manager) and Navinda Imbubpa (Guest Experience Manager). On arrival to the room, we were impressed by the handwritten welcome note from Jacques. Whilst it is true that the hotel is located close to a fairground (the source of techno music correctly referred to in the previous review), we understand that Luang Prabang is always tranquil and that the volume we experienced was limited to this New Year festival only. We reflected on the importance of a pre-visit study. Notwithstanding this, Satri House is an amazing hotel. The renovation mirrors the original house perfectly. The Satri House team is attentive and caring. Key takeaways: # the staff is incredibly warm and greet you with sincerity # the housekeeping and gardener teams are amazing # the breakfast is plentiful. We recommend the freshly made noodle soup # the restaurant is terrific. We ate in many restaurants during our visit and will review them separately. We found the quality of the food at the Satri House restaurant to be equal to our better dining experiences # we love the two pools. Whilst we agree that the main pool could do with more lounges, we note that there are additional lounges at the second pool # the hotel is not located in the centre of the (small) city of Luang Prabang. It is in fact a 15-20 min walk to the city centre. The hotel does provide complimentary lockable bicycles with baskets that will get you there in 5-8 minutes One suggestion is to resolve the positioning of the Google Maps location pin. I am confident that when return to Satri House outside of the New Year festival, we will rate our experience as excellent."David’s Kitchen: "Amazing"
Delicious food, great wine, and amazing staff. Went in for dinner twice in one week! Will keep coming back for sure.Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Wonderful stay at Cheong Fatt Tze / Blue Mansion"
"Over the recent Easter long weekend, we decided to take a break in Penang. We picked the Blue Mansion, indigo blue coloured heritage hotel with only 18 rooms after learning about its history and seen some pictures. From the outside, the heritage hotel is hidden behind a high wall so only the roof and part of the building were visible from outside. The hotel also conducts a tour of the hotel, sharing the history as well as the challenging task of restoring the hotel when it was bought over following the death of the last son of the original owner. Hotel guests gets to join the tour for free. We were very fortunate to join the tour on the day that Loh-Lim Lin Lee, current owner of the hotel, was leading the tour. She only does it on Friday at 11am and 2pm. She was a wonderful story teller, sharing about the unique architecture, origins of the materials used in the construction such as colourful history. Beautifully restored with rooms that are a mixed of modern and traditional. We even have a jacuzzi in our bathroom! Highly recommend for a different experience from conventional hotel stay. Stayed March 2017, traveled with friends"Tugu Bali: "3 days at the end of 2 weeks in Bali with our daughter and 2 grandchildren"
"Very interesting layout. Our suite was on the second floor with a huge Japanese style tin bath and great ocean view. Very rustic appearance, but with all modern conveniences. Our daughter's suite had a plunge pool and koi pond. The best aspects of the hotel were the perfect service, and the large grassy lawn space next to the beach. By the second day the wait staff knew us by name. Be sure to try one of their many specialty prix fixe dinners. Not much to do outside the resort, compared to other areas of Bali, but that's OK."The Samar: "Fabulous hotel"
Stayed here originally for 2 nights during our 3 month trip around SE Asia, as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday. Upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded for free, and shown to the most stunning villa ever! I had emailed the hotel with a few requests for my boyfriends birthday (cooking class in the morning, followed by massage and romantic dinner in the evening) and everything was put together perfectly for us. They effortlessly organised a tuk-tuk to and from town, as well as a day around the temples. The French owner was lovely to us, even extending our stay for an extra two nights for a bargain price as the hotel was quiet. The staff were attentive but not in an overbearing way. The bed was the comfiest bed I've ever slept in...felt like sleeping on a cloud! All in all, we had a fantastic stay and would happily recommend Samar to anyone staying in Siem Reap who are looking for a little luxury hotel! One small niggle- the cookery class could have been a bit more hands on, and it did seem to be expensive for what you got.Maison Polanka: "An oasis indeed"
This lovely sweet hotel is indeed an oasis. It's location is so strategically located to give us the best night sleep. Waking up in a garden made us feel at home. Value for the money is backed up by the very professional service. I personally like the service the Khmer staffs rendered to us. Amazing pool too! Try the food they serve. AmazingAmata Lanna: "Great boutique hotel"
My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights. We loved the personal experience of staying in a smaller, boutique-style hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we were always greeted with a smile. The room was large, traditional Lanna style with a very spacious bathroom. The daily breakfast was a fairly small selection but delicious and still something for everyone (cereal, toast, eggs, bacon, Asian-style porridge etc). We would definitely recommend staying here.
