Villa Song Saigon: "A Peaceful Retreat"
"Villa Song is a small boutique hotel with only about 12 rooms. The grounds and building itself are luxurious and full of style. Each room is quite different in terms of size and configuration, so it pays to be sure you know what you're booking. We asked if it was possible to move to another room shortly after check- in because there was only one small window in the room and the reception staff were very helpful in offering another room. The breakfast is menu style rather than buffet and is very good with plenty of options on offer. The food at bistro song where we had two evening meals was great. The shuttle boat service in to district 1 is very convenient and worth a return trip just for the river cruise. Thao Dien, District 2 is worth a look around with some obvious wealth on display in the neighbourhood homes. Not as many local eating options as district 1 but a lot of work going on in the area with plenty of new places opening all the time."Babe: "Great food and great view"
"Food : we had the set dinner / omakase and it was amazing. It was nice to be surprised at every course. View : we were seated inside but we took a stroll to the outdoor seating. The view is very great. Special mention to the lady host which speaks multiple languages."Inle Princess Resort: "Top of the Line"
"The best place to stay on Inle Lake. Gorgeous private lakeside location with beautifully landscaped ground. Well located for touring. Totally service oriented in the most friendly of ways. Very comfortable large individual chalets with large balconies, fireplace, seating area, fridge, safe, large bathroom to include outdoor shower. Nice pool area to relax at day's end. Beautiful lakeside deck for meals. We have high expectations and they were met. On arrival we asked for extra lamps (we don't like dark rooms), space heaters for the bathroom and main room and extra blankets and towels ... all were promptly and cheerfully provided. The dinning room staff was exceptional helpful in arranging meals to our individual taste. Plan on eating here ... no where else to eat."Supanniga Eating Room: "Consistantly good"
"We've hit Supanniga again last night. Every time (twice a year) we come to Bangkok we make sure to have dinner there and have always been rewarded for sticking to good old habits. Last night was no exception. We tried to innovate choosing dishes we'd never tried before and were pleased with every single taste. Service was as always attentive. Supanigga remains a good destination for whoever is looking for good thai food with a twist in a cozy yet animated environment"The Island Lodge: "Lovely Place to stay"
"We stayed 2 nights at the Island Lodge during our tour of Cambodia and Vietnam, and my wife and I loved it. Away from the hustle and Bustle of HCMC , The Island Lodge is a peaceful oasis and I cant recommend them highly enough. We stayed in a Garden View room , the attention to detail all over the resort is exceptional, and the staff with a special mention to Aime'e are a delight nothing is too much trouble. So if you fancy a relaxing break while visiting some of the hectic cities of Vietnam , do yourselves a favour and check out the Island Lodge you wont be disappointed."Satri House: "Un havre de paix"
"Arrived for 4 days in Luang Prabang we stayed 3 nights at Satri House. This hotel in the colonial charm only deserves compliments. A very original architecture with large rooms decorated former local objects. You feel more in a big mansion than in a traditional hotel. Our room was spacious, very clean, wooden floors and a large balcony. Very quiet, a nice staff and very caring. The breakfast (Western or Lao) was plentiful and very fresh. 2 swimming pools (a bit small) but with a large green space surrounded by large tropical trees to relax. You can borrow bikes for walking and / or go into town. Would recommend without reservation! "Tugu Bali: "Staying in the middle of art and culture"
"We were travelling with three small kids (3,5,7) and Tugu hotel in Canggu was our last stop in Bali after staying in Intercontinental Jimbaran and the villas in Ubud and Lovina. We were looking for something different than the large chain hotels and Tugu hotel turned out to be just the right place. The hotel does not belong to the Small Luxury Hotels, Relais&Chateaux (they do not have any hotels in Indonesia yet?) or Boutique Hotels, so we found it kind of accidentally as our friends had recommended to stay in Canggu area and hotel Tugu is #1 in Canggu. The hotel could easily fit into the quality standards of the small luxury hotels. Although the hotel has a pool, this is not the reason to come to this hotel. There are hotels with bigger and better pools. Tugu hotel is for the guests who love architecture, art and culture, who are excited about original interior design and high quality antiquities and handicraft surrounding at every step: in the room, in the garden and literally everywhere. The service was perfect even on the background of the Balinese being in general polite and friendly. I would like to give special thank you to Pande Dwipa for an excursion in the facilities: Tugu hotel is an exquisite art museum and hotel in one. I can only admire the vision of the hotel owner Anhar Setjadibrata, to share the art he has collected with the guests in his hotels. Tugu hotel is definitely ""worth a detour"", to use a Michelin term."Satri House: "Very good hotel, phenomenal staff"
"I truly felt like I was a guest of the staff of this hotel. I must have had 5 conversations with members of staff where I learnt a lot about Lao culture. The hotel itself is very nice, a couple of small pools and a decent restaurant. My room was huge and very nice, it's important to remember that you're at a boutique hotel, not the Four Seasons. As others have written, the staff took care of my every need, they arranged a last minute excursion for me and somehow would manage to set up my room for sleeping the second that I left it for more than 10 minutes. The only negative is that it's a but of a walk into town in the Lao heat, but other that that it's a solid 4 star hotel."Sea Dance Resort: "Great staff, great food at a relaxing boutique resort."
"We searched very carefully for our Koh Samui stay. Coming off of 2 weeks of hard touring around Laos and Cambodia our goal was peace, quiet and relaxation, preferably in a villa on the beach rather than a hotel room. We found Sea Dance and, despite a few mixed reviews here, decided to give it a go. We ended up thrilled that we did. Things did get off to a rocky start: despite a confirmed airport greeting and pickup there was no one to meet us at the airport meeting point. After 15 minutes and a phone call we hopped in a taxi expecting the worst. Instead we were met by the Managing Director/owner Poy with a heartfelt apology. Everyone makes mistakes, and rather than shifting blame or making excuses Poy simply took the fault, apologized and promised to make it up to us. Which he and his staff did do. Perfect service recovery. As for the property itself, we stayed in Villa 1 and cannot recommend it more highly. It’s mostly a glass room but with blackout shades and AC that must be on steroids. During the day we lounged in the private pool or on the very private lounging platform staring at the ocean. At night we opened the glass doors and listened to the sea sipping one of the many wine selections from the restaurant’s wine room. The restaurant serves excellent eclectic food including Thai, other Asian and western food. My favorite was the duck Red curry. My wife loved the steak sandwich for lunch. The beach is ‘meh’. Pebbly and rocky. Gorgeous to look at though. But let’s be clear: what made this place special for us were the people. The staff are just awesome. They call guests by name here (nice Ritz touch!) Beyond Poy, Faith the ex-Pat American manager gave us pro tips on our plans to go digital nomad next year during the included breakfast. Ex-pat English Helen provided excellent service with a healthy dash of wit and a wry smile at dinner. And ex-pat Myanmar ‘John’ serves great drinks and fascinating stories of his life. And those are just the ones we got to know by name. All of the staff were excellent - although it would have helped a bit if the eggs station staff at breakfast spoke at least a little English since we like our omelette well done. We kept thinking that the place ought to go all over-13. The bungalows and social atmosphere at breakfast, happy hour and dinner are really conducive to grown-uping. And we met and made some new Facebook friends there. But, alas, it’s not all-adult so there were babies, toddlers and kids about. That’s where the private pool came in super-handy. This little resort isn’t a highly polished gem. It’s a boutique resort. That’s part of its charm, but too, it means there are minor service gaps and gaffes. Bring bring a relaxed attitude and good nature and you’ll have a great time, no worries and even make new friends. To us, it was just what we wanted just when we wanted it."Locavore: "Absolute excellence"
Locavore was recommended to us by friends. It is a wonderful food experience to have in Ubud. Expect many more courses than you think and everything you put in you mouth is superb. Presentation, particular the crockery is unique. Loved everything. It is a set menu - 5 or 7 courses for lunch. We chose 5 but you get many more. We were there for my husbands 60th birthday and they presented him with a cake in a coconut with candle at the end. Very special.
