Satri House: "Excellent Place to end our trip of Laos"
"If you are considering a trip to Luang Prabang do yourself a favour and consider this hotel. We spent 4 nights here at the end of a tour of Laos and would thoroughly recommend this Boutique hotel. The grounds are beautiful, including a swimming pool and the rooms elegant, as one would expect from the former royal residence of Prince Souphanouvong. Our junior suite had a large bedroom, wardrobe area, huge bathroom with bath, separate shower and two washbasins and a separate loo. Plus an outside private balcony which overlooked the lilley pond. In the evening the staff would come in, prepare the nets around our four poster bed and put drinking water by the bed. Staff were all polite and service very good. Our package included breakfast served until 10.30 which was cooked freshly to order and of a good standard. Although a choice it is basically eggs, bread, cereal, yoghurt and tea/coffee, or noodle soup. We stayed over New Year where there was a Gala Dinner, including local dancers, floating candles and a small disco, which was very nice and in keeping with the surroundings. Wifi available free in rooms and ok by pool, but found it dropped off in the front courtyard. There is a spa should this be of interest to you. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk along the main road to the start of the Night Market and if you want to go to the river it is a 10 minute walk, all very easy, however there was always a Tuk Tuk or taxi outside the gate should you not wish to walk. There are also Bicycles for guest use if you wish. The flight path goes over the hotel so there are a few planes overhead during the daytime, but not that many or that noisy that it interferes with your enjoyment of the stay."SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Perfect date night restaurant"
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here. The food, ambiance, and service were all excellent. The owners are Swiss and the cheese plate was as good as any I have had in Europe. The beef tenderloin was great. They kept bringing interesting amuse bouches to us. The setting was lovely and the servers were very attentive. Great wine collection too.Chakrabongse Villas: "MAGIC"
"If you want to see one of the magical side of Bankok, in front of the famous Canal and famous city hot spots, you will find a secret garden with beautiful Villas: the Chakrabongse Villas. Still owned by a member of the Royal family, you can definitely meet elegance, peace, magic and luxury charme with a perfect service. Moreover, is not too expensive compared to other famous Hotel chains nearby.. i definitely recommend to choose it and to dine there with such an incredible view! I will come back for sure."Supanniga Eating Room: "Delcious Authentic Thai Food"
You need to call ahead for a reservation at this small yet wonderful restaurant. They advertise Grandma's secret recipes and they do not disappoint. Great service and very yummy food with those wonderful, distinctive Thai flavors. If you want the real deal, come here.Locavore: "Very nice!"
"Very nice ambience and staff. The food is good (very different) but you expect this difference when you are going to a restaurant that specializes in local food that is not from your country. The only thing I didn't like about this place is that I told them about my ginger allergy before going and until we were there they told me that I could not have almost half of the menu that they prepared and only gave me the option to eat from the vegetarian menu. I told them that i really wanted something with fish and they tell me that they couldn't. Every restaurant that we've been in Asia had given me the option to make similar dishes to the ones in the menu and just without ginger or they even made different sauces and had them before we came in. Besides this, Locavore is a nice and different experience while visiting Ubud. The cocktails were great!"Babe: "Sensational. A really special experience."
"Among all of the places I have eaten at, Babe exudes an atmosphere that rivals the most energetic of places, with the food sharing that same energy. Chef Jeff Ramsay and his team of chefs and hosts provide an experience that's unlike any other in Malaysia. The food is refreshingly inventive, executed well, and finished off with attentive explanations. I really enjoyed my time here and I recommend the place to anybody who's looking for a good time. "Reverie Siam: "Incredible day and night"
"My boyfriend surprised me with a night at this beautiful place for our anniversary. I cannot quite begin to describe how amazing it is! The whole resort is decorated in a gorgeous 1920's pastel theme. We stayed in a private villa, the bed was incredibly soft and comfy, the bathroom was enormous with a great shower and we even had our own private jacuzzi! The staff were so friendly and attentive, never letting our wine glasses become empty. The food was outstanding, we ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant- the tapas is beautiful and my lamb shank at dinner was cooked to perfection. They have a bar down by the river which was my favourite aspect of the whole resort, at night the entire bar and garden was lit up with hundreds of tiny fairy lights, it really was beautiful. We spent the day by the pool which was gorgeous and tranquil. The only tiny downside is that I think there may have been slight drainage problems-the drain by the toilet in our bathroom smelled quite bad and ended up making the entire villa smell a bit funny. This was only a small issue though, and I absolutely cannot fault anything else. Thank you so much to the team for making our stay so special, I will never forget it. Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Manda De Laos: "Excellent but pricey"
"We were unaware that reservations were necessary but they were very accommodating and set up an extra table for us. We tried one of the sets for two but there was so much excellent food we were unable to finish it all. We did squeeze in the wonderful dessert though! The service was top notch but if you opt to have some wine or beer be prepared to pay top dollar or in this case kip. The total cost was what one would pay in a western country but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will return the next time we are in the area. "Tugu Bali: "Amazing"
"What a superb property. Only 21 rooms, built on wooden structures and with great ethnic feel. The service is amazing and so is the food. There is direct access to the beach and the beach side garden is great to lounge in with tonnes of space. At night dinner can be served in this garden. Try it. The place is full of antique statues and is a photographers delight. The property is flush with greenery and water bodies. Loved it."Satri House: "Wonderful staff and lovely property"
"My wife, infant daughter and I stayed at the property for 5 nights. On our check in, we were greeted warmly by Julie and her team and were brought on a quick tour of the property. I think we were kinda impatient then because the property was so beautiful and we wanted to quickly go explore. Even in me and my daughter's impatience to go play with the wooden rocking horse, Julie was so very patient and kind. We booked the junior suite which was really generous in size, and absolutely lovely in style. The room was spacious, clean, and very well appointed. our first nights dinner was really really good. So good that we thought.... hey.. Why don't people eat more Laotian food!? But as the days passed and we had a selection of good and ok restaurants.. we realized that no, the Laotian selection and food in Satri house just tasted better, and was better curated. The breakfast was insanely generous and tasted amazing. I am going to miss that so much. What I will really miss is the wonderful wait staff in the restaurant. Every single one of them was attentive, kind, and generous in patience. They made my very naughty daughter feel loved and entertained every time we dined there, so much so that breakfast was a ritual that we couldn't miss, and we were constantly considering only eating at satri restaurant. It was so funny because in the mornings, when we walk into the restaurant, a gaggle of activity buzzes around ensuring that my daughter was happy, comfortable and well fed. Never have I been to a restaurant that has made me and my family feel so welcomed. I will miss having breakfast at satri house, and I truly felt sad leaving. The housekeeping team was also amazing. We had a minor run in on day 2 with a poor job done that we felt we had to call in to speak with the housekeeping supervisor. But thereafter, they picked up the ante and made sure our room was tip top every afternoon and evening we got back. I love the idea that we could freely use the bikes to get around the city, the morning rides to watch the sunrise and alms giving is so refreshing. The only drawback would be that the property is located close to many party loving neighbors. Of the 5 nights we were there, there were 3 unique parties. The one we encountered on our last day was so frightfully loud we stayed indoors all morning with the windows shut. The other 2 were quite bearable. But this of course, is no fault of the perfect team at satri house. By the looks of the reviews.. this is pretty hit and miss. I can imagine it being worse closer to the center of Luang Prabang. Laotians seem to love to partaaayy. "Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
