Restaurant Description

Blackitch Artisan Kitchen is owned by Chef Black, a self-taught Chef, passionate about the incredible array of local ingredients that Thailand has to offer. The restaurant caters for just 16 guests per seating, served across two intimate tables. Blackitch creates a unique dining experience delivered through nine splendid courses of the Chef's tasting menu. The Chef & His Brigade

Chef BlackChef Black
“I finally began following my dream after 10 years of working as a Civil Engineer. Having fun and experimenting with food became my true passion and I have continued to hunger for learning about new ways and new things since my time training at culinary school. Gaining knowledge from local wisdom and trying to understand it scientifically and logically is the key to my cuisine.”

We Care

Rotational Farming of Indigenous (Hill Tribe) Pakakeyor
Reflecting the Human Rights aspect of the indigenous people and the ownership rights shared by all Thai people within forest hill tribes, Blackitch has created a new educational project to better enable the sharing of local wisdom and knowledge, and sustainability around food and farming practices.
In order to help create cultural awareness for this cause, Blackitch organises the following types of events:
- Dedicated forest workshops,
- Youth networking and food shows
- A scenery test workshop and public education talks
- Specific event gatherings for special interest groups for particular learning or development projects

Blackitch is also dedicated to raising awareness of indigenous culture through the process of sharing the stories about what we do and how we cook, and allow guests to experience this though some of the food served at each meal. We actively support the use of local products and activities, and are deeply proud of Chiang Mai and the surrounding regions as a destination of great cultural value.

Welcome to Chiang Mai

Surrounded by a moat and ancient wall in northern Thailand, and founded in 1296 by King Mengrai, Chiang Mai, is Thailand’s second-largest city. Previously known as Lanna Thai, this lush and fertile region seduces travellers with its rich traditions, colourful annual festivals, vibrant art scene, artisanal handicrafts that date back some 700 years (ceramics, silversmithing, silk and cotton, jewellery, furniture and hill tribe crafts), sumptuous spas, and varied cuisines.

Soft adventure activities comprise an excursion to the Burmese border through the scenic region, and a day spent with elephants either at an elephant sanctuary or trekking through the jungle. Golfers can play round on one of the numerous nearby courses. Other options include: visiting the city’s most famous landmark Doi Suthep Temple; taking a Lanna cookery course; and hiking in and around Thailand’s highest mountain at one of the nearby two national parks Suthep or Inthanon, whilst passing by remote hill tribe villages and forest temples along the way. More adventurous travellers can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, off-road motorcycling trails, and 4WD excursions. Offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere, laden with captivating experiences, Chiang Mai is a celebration of life’s beauty.
