Misool Eco Resort: "Most incredible scuba diving"
"Where to start!!! Misool is truly unique! You arrive on a fast launch, to a wonderful tropical island, you are greeted on the jetty by all the waving friend staff. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The island is set up wonderfully for scuba divers, fully equipped dive centre with nitrox that is free to qualified divers, you can hire equipment or take your own. A dedicated area is available for you to work on your camera equipment. You could do 4 dives a day if you wish too. Dive sites are accessed by fast boats, many sites are only 15 minutes away or less. All dive sites are wonderful! The corals are in pristine condition from down deep right to the surface. The fish life in variety and quantity is truly amazing! The Maldives 35 years ago was fantastic, Misool today even beats that NOW!!!! Why? The team at Misool and their wonderful Rangers and their Charity have a huge No Take zone and this is paramount in protecting the area. You can stay in a very comfortable water bungalow, near the dive centre and restaurant or you can stay in a very secluded bungalows on the south beach. These are accessed by steep steps up and down over the hill. A boat taxi is available at certain tide states. Meals are extremely healthy using lots of local ingredients. I found that for me the strong Indonesian influence was not always to my taste. It is hard to fault Misool! I consider a stay there is A TRIP of a LIFE TIME !!! May Misool go from strength to strength!!!! Stayed February 2017, traveled solo"NOEL RODRIGO’S LEOPARD SAFARIS: "Just amazing"
"We are a family of five and have been in several luxury lodges around the world so far and for that matter we are not easy to impress. But, the devotion to fulfill his guests’ expectations as seen in Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safari Camp is hard to mach. Everything is so well organized and you feel special from the first minute you arrive there. Since we are not used to such high temperatures and humidity, we were afraid how we will cope with that, but stepping in to an air-conditioned tent and cold, wet towels as a first thing when you step down from your jeep made our fears totally irrelevant. The tents and amenities are excellent, very clean and safe from bugs. Even if you never stayed in tents before, there is no reason to fear from lack of comfort. The touch of luxury that we found in our Luxury tent was in range of a five star hotel. You cannot admire enough the hard wood furniture and commitment to details that makes this tent an accommodation for royalties. This is a rare lodge where breakfast, lunch and dinner, could compete with any top restaurant (or a million star Michelin as Noel calls it since it's under the amazing starry sky). You can ask for a special menu for kids and if you are celebrating a special occasion, the staff will do their best to make it unforgettable. Even the birthday cake made in a jungle kitchen is not a problem for them. The staff shows extensive knowledge on all the animals, but having Noel as a guide and driver is incomparable to any other. Noels lodge is a 20 minute drive from the park entrance Block 5, but the jeeps are comfortable and there are interesting things to see even on the way. The landscapes in the park are just breathtaking and beyond this world. The park is a treasure box for a birdwatchers. We love all the animals, but spoting leopard was our goal. Spoting animals in such a thick jungle is very difficult and it's not always easy to find one in an open space. But, Noel has a six sense for it and with him on the wheel, you cannot miss. His years of living in nature and his devotion to leopards taught him how to read signs, leopard footsteps and monkey alarms, to be able to bring his guests to amazing sights of animals in their natural habitat. The respect and love for nature that he and his staff are showing must surely impress you. And the passion he shows when he finds that leopard is just contagious. We saw leopards up close, sloth bears and many other animals, more then we could ever hope for. Of course, a camp like this, has its price and it´s a lot of money, but don't let the price be your main decision factor. In Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard safari camp you are buying something money can't buy - the love and passion for animals and nature and absolute commitment to every wish you might have during your stay in this camp. We returned home with some great pictures, unforgettable memories and I might say, friends for life. Thank you Noel and Cecile for making it happen! "Supanniga Eating Room: "Great Thai food, not great street food but delicious nonetheless"
We stop by for dinner every year here and are never disappointed. It’s a nice looking restaurant lively and well designed. Staff is courteous friendly and takes care of the customers. Food is delicious, clean (no msg), served quickly. Prices are ok, plates are small so order a lot. We ordered a crab prik thai dish ( most expensive item on the menu (600 baht)) and it was fantastic. See you next yearVilla Idanna: "A tranquil place at the foot of Mount Agusng"
"I stayed at this villa for 3 days and it was awesome for someone who wants to have a quiet village experience. You wake up and saw the holy Mount Agung in front of the villa. There is no TV or other electronic media in the villa so you just enjoy the experience without disruption. The villa is served by 4 local staff from the area, in fact one staff lives in front of the villa. For the entire 3 days we were served with local Sidemen dishes and they were fantastic. During the day, a lot of tourists mostly expatriates were seen cycling or walking around the village. At the top of the hill, I went to visit ibu Dayu a friend of many celebrities like Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Walter Spies. Her house is also facing Mount Agung, we had lunch and enjoyed her company."THE SAMAR: "Back Home"
"Always a great feeling to go back to a place I like. The staff make me feel ""home"" as this is the 3rd time I stay here. Little attentions, smiles.. and this familiar atmosphere, the beautiful dark swimming pool. I travel quite a lot for both work and pleasure, and it is great to have ""harbors"" around, to rest, feel comfortable, recharge... The Samar is one of my harbors. Thanks to all of you!"Yandabo Home: "Surprinsingly great"
"3 hrs down the Irrawaddy from Mandalay, what a wonderful surprise to discover, just on the bank of the river, in a tiny village known for its pottery artisans, this beautiful Yandabo Home. Neat design, spacious room, view over the river, great cuisine and warm friendly staff offering a discreet and attentive service. Unexpected in this part of Myanmar. A place recommended for travelers who searching the authentic beauty of Burma."Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A place to die for!"
"Marcus, I said that and more in your guest book. It's very difficult to put into words what an absolutely spectacular place to spend a few days. Would have preferred the six. Wonderful welcome from all. Tea with home baking on arrival is a very good start. Pampering at best. Nothing was any bother. We didn't feel as though staying at a hotel. I know we were lucky weather wise. Breakfast with that view, oh boy, plus homemade bread. Cannot go wrong. My wildlife pics are thanks to Hari rather than me. He has good eyesight. My fellow travelers have the same opinion. We are still swapping pics. I said I would be back and I will. Perhaps not with the same tour operator as, yes, itinerary has changed. Very many thanks to you and the boys. Also my cake and pressie"Villa Song Saigon: "A lovely experience"
We are 2 couples who live different sides of the world. This hotel was a perfect place to meet. After long haul flights, start a holiday with a slow pace relaxing by the pool or in the beautiful river side garden. The staff are wonderful. Breakfast is delicious and served any time you like is a nice touch. This hotel is less suited to people who want to stay at the heart of the action.Tugu Malang: "The most wonderful hotel in Indonesia"
We have stayed in Malang city for a week or two almost every year for 44 years & for the past 22 years we have stayed at Tugu Malang. Not only is Tugu Malang the best hotel in Malang but we maintain that it is the best hotel in Indonesia. The atmosphere, the design, the décor, Pak Anhar's wonderful collection of antiques and artifacts displayed about the hotel, the swimming pool, the bridge over the koi pond with the most beautiful koi fish I have ever seen - the experience never ends. The food at the popular & wonderful Melati Restaurant never fails to satisfy. Fabulous menu, always excellent food and the largest range of Nasi Gorengs in Indonesia. Never miss Nasi Goreng Tugu & Nasi Goreng Bang Samin - my mouth is watering at the memory. We always bring friends & guests to eat at the Melati Restaurant and it appears that many of the travellers who stay at other hotels in Malang also prefer to dine there. The best spa and massage facility is without a doubt at Tugu Malang. Most of all, the wonderful, friendly staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. We love being spoilt and pampered at Tugu Malang and would never consider staying anywhere else in Malang. See you again next year.David’s Kitchen: "Another beautiful evening"
The service is spectacular. Table presentation perfect. They could have served anything and one would have been happy. However the food they served was good - very good. Oh - back in Hong Kong planning next tripTravel Asia with Secret Retreats
