SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Beautiful lakeside fine dining with perfect service"

Review by: Mark D | Source: Trip Advisor
"Last night we had the most beautiful dinner at Seeds. With personalised service and attention from the owners and their extremely well trained, attentive and friendly staff, this is a perfect restaurant for a business or a romantic dinner. The delicious canoes, home made truffle ravioli with truffle foam and perfectly cooked sea bass were absolutely in keeping with the chefs’ Michelin accolades. A wonderful balanced wine list with reasonable prices rounds out the perfect meal. The architecture is stunning too. Overlooking perfectly kept gardens that undulate down to the lake there’s even a stunning water feature fountain that appears to shoot out from the lake under lights. To top it off, there’s a private dining g room on a glamorous treehouse. Just amazing!"

Dewakan: "Great experience!"

Review by: Kritz_Y | Source: Trip Advisor
"Just checked their website and they seemed to have changed their menu! Seems like what I had was a mixture of their old menu and the new one. Snacks (Choy Sum Nori, Beef Tendons, Mango Curry, Yoghurt and Roselle): Choy Sum Nori was quite cool and memorable! The others were ... interesting? Could be too weird for some. Starters (Blue Mackerel, Roast Mushrooms, Grilled Vegetables, Home Made Noodles): Quite liked the roast mushrooms. Was told to eat from right to left, but perhaps plating it from left to right would be make more sense since most people hold their forks on the left and knives on the right? Just a suggestion! The noodles weren't that great, however. Mains (Pike Conger, Duck, Quail): The highlight of the night! I really loved each of the 3 main dishes, but sadly two of them don't seem to be on the new menu anymore. Probably one of the most memorable dishes I've had. Desserts (Mulberries, Gula Melaka, Chocolate Tart, Popsicles): The 3 desserts from the menu were great. At the end they gave us 3 additional popsicles even though we were absolutely stuffed by then. Really didn't like the weird popsicle flavours, but to each their own perhaps? Can't imagine it would be popular since none of us liked the popsicles. Service was great, however some were a little too soft-spoken when it came to explaining the dishes. Not sure if having descriptions left on the table would be too tacky but I would love to have something to refer to while eating."

Rachamankha: "Fantastic Stay"

Review by: frank p | Source: Trip Advisor
This is a "late" review, as I lost the name until I found it in my old luggage. We stayed there three nights starting 01/20/2013-01/23/2013, and it was nearly the single most pleasant place we stayed in a three month trip around Thailand and Laos. All rooms face a beautiful central courtyard, and the staff and management are top-notch. The only downside is that the neighborhood outside the walls is a bit rugged, but we had no problems. Highly recommended...don't believe the Dec 2015 stay date...I had to put something....

Tugu Lombok: "Stunning property with good surprises everywhere"

Review by: Porkstore | Source: Trip Advisor
"I find myself at a loss for words to describe Tugu. It is such an amazing place with lovely people that I really don’t know where to start! We stayed during the end of rainy season and were amazed to find we were almost the only guests there at the time. Sure it rained a couple of times in the afternoon, but there is plenty enough sun in the mornings so this really should not keep you from going there then. The hotel is on the northern side of Lombok, a path much less trodden by tourists there so definitely a bonus for us as we prefer to steer clear of mass tourism. It is a great place to stay in a peaceful surrounding while also being a good base to see other parts of the island. It is also only 30 minutes from here to the Gili islands and the hotel offers rides there on its own dragon boat. The wow factor started for us the minute the car entered the driveway, the grounds on which the hotel sits encompass 6 hectares and all the buildings are well spaced apart. The entrance/reception is beautiful with antique wood carvings and a cooling carp pool where you sit while being registered with a lovely cool drink astound and soothe you after your journey there. We had booked a Svarga villa, but we were also shown the Aloon-Aloon villa and took this instead as the bathrooms are indoor (but not air-conditioned) whereas in the Svarga they are partially outside and we were worried about mosquito bites when using the bathroom at night. Both villa types were stunning and each villa, even of the same type, has slightly different compositions (e.g. different styles of beds) making each a very individual experience. The Aloon-Aloon villas are stand-alone, each with a private walled in garden and all the lights are controlled from what can only be described as a James Bond style control box on the bed side table. They are also close to the main restaurant and bar in a garden area with large coconut and other trees offering lovely shade and cool. The villas are huge, our own flat at home now seems so much smaller and cramped we wish we were back there! You have almost absolute privacy and the only thing we heard in our time there was the Muezin call to prayer that you hear anywhere on the island. The hotel has two restaurants, the main one with a T-shaped pool in front not far from the Aloon-Aloon villas and reception area was the one we mainly used as the other (wedding) hall is only open three times a week if enough guests are there. This other hall was stunning, huge and high ceilinged with a range of captivating statues and antique art pieces and included a number of ceiling fans that were great for cooling you while you ate. We did not use the adjoining bar, but did take a look and it was just like a vision out of colonial and historic buildings from all over Asia. The main restaurant was smaller and had no ceiling fans, however, you have the opportunity to eat at various places on the property if it was not raining. We ate on a raised dais just in front of the beach a couple of times as there was a nice breeze there. Regardless of where you choose to eat the service is fantastic and the food is amazing. I am allergic to cucumber, Zucchini and related food stuffs while my wife is allergic to onion and garlic, quite a challenge for the kitchen who were amazing about it all and the staff were very good with us. We also did a cooking course with Sukma, which we thoroughly enjoyed and I learned an awful lot about Indonesian cooking in the process. I can only highly recommend this course. The hotel also offers a number of activities and outings that we found very useful and excellently delivered. While the tours are pre-defined they are always very accommodating in changing the parameters of these if this is required. There are two pools on the property all can use, some of the villas also heave their own private pools. The largest pool is around 2 minutes’ walk from the main reception and has it’s own bar on site. A small children’s pool leads into the main pool, which has a deep centre with sides you can walk on. There are several sun loungers around the pool and it is a great area for families. We mainly used the pool at the front of the main restaurant that is built in a T-shape. It is perfect for cooling off while staying close to the main restaurant and bar areas, I would say it could do with a little clean as some of the inside surfaces including lights did have a build-up of algae on them, but this in no way stopped us from swimming there. Please do not get the wrong idea from my last comment, I have to say the staff are amazing and spend a huge amount of time cleaning in all areas of the hotel. The staff are wonderful and very attentive while also keeping a level of distance in order to provide the guests with a level of privacy. We got on really well with everyone and all staff made a huge effort to make our stay as fantastic as possible, I have to give particular thanks here to Ruslan who took the time to teach me a number of Indonesian phrases I found very useful while there. The beach is amazing here with lovely white sand and direct access to the sea. The corals near to shore are a little bleached and covered in sea weed, but there are still amazing fish to see not far from shore. It might have been the time of year, but there were always strands of sea weed floating in the water that were a little off putting, but otherwise well worth a visit. All around the hotel grounds and buildings there are amazing statues and details to be discovered while walking around. I think I could have easily spent another week there and still not get bored of discovering the place, I can only highly recommend a stay here and hope to be back some time myself too. Room Tip: Ask to see the rooms available, you can then chose the best for your needs"

Dewakan: "A wonderful experience!"

Review by: Ruru S | Source: Trip Advisor
It's my first time trying the modern Malaysian cuisine and it was amazing. Never knew that our local ingredients can be so versatile. Kudos to the chef team for their adventurous experiments. Full of surprises and I did enjoy all the new flavors dancing on my palate. Love the wine and fermented beverages pairing.

Arumdalu Private Resort: "The ultimate Belitung experience that brings nature with a minimalistic approach"

Review by: Ini B | Source: Trip Advisor
Starting from the room, the place was definitely designed towards honeymoon couples. The overall interior gives a wide open feel. Both Bedroom and bathroom are designed to have little partition, giving the guest more space. I really love how the nature is combined with the resort, the walking distance to the beach and the rocks are just perfectly calculated. It also has a high end dining quality, the menus are very creative, making every meal a notable accent to the whole stay.

Samanea Beach Resort: "Stunning location – pontoon into the sea a great plus"

Review by: GenevaBeaver | Source: Trip Advisor
"We were only there for one night, but it's a spectacular location - 12 nicely designed bungalows in a green park where you can't see or hear your neighbors. There were two Khmer families shooting their wedding albums - which gives you some idea of how nice it was - and with a 25 mètre pool you don't need to do into the sea - but there is a 59 mètre or so pier which takes you over the initial mud and far enough out that the sea is easy to swim in Food was excellent - although slightly bizarrely they had no fish or crabs. Extremely Eco friendly, and very nice staff Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"

MesaStila: "Best Start to 2017 and Beautiful Resort"

Review by: Bacio73 | Source: Trip Advisor
"I stayed at MesaStila for 2 nights with my friend. We took the Borobodur package that the Resort offer and beautiful Villa over looking the volcano. It is very authentic atmosphere, beautiful and retreat place. what make the place is more special and made a huge different is their employee. My friend would like to have ""Bakso"" which is traditional Indonesian beef/chicken ball noodles and it is not in the restaurant menu. Ana the waitress at Restaurant have gone out of her way instead of saying sorry we do not have Bakso but have said to us that let me check with the Chef and see what I can do for you. Been a Malaysian who understand half of their language I can understand very clearly when Ana mentioned to the Chef over the phone and politely mentioned"" please chef try to do something to make our guest happy"". To me that is 5 star service!! Afdi our Driver during our stay, very professional from the day he pick us up from Yogja, took us to Borubodur and drop us at the airport, he been very kind, helpful and very informative by explaining to us on surroundings while driving us around. Reception who check us in ( I forgot her name - lady with short Hair) - she is very good and has given us proper Resort Tour and Room Orientation. Lily - the lady who took us for coffee plantation, she is very knowledgeable about the surroundings and the history of the resort. The therapist - I had 2 treatment at their Hamman Spa and I can only say excellent! Everyone should try the ""jamu"" drinks and met the lovely Ibu who prepare the Jamu. For Improvement: Accommodation - Everything is antique in the room, I think the lighting need to have some improvement as it is too dark and combination of lighting with yellow and florescent does not goes well. other than that all is great. Landscaper - my suggestion when we have guest occupying the villa perhaps the trimming or cutting trees will be done when the guest not in the villa as this will disturb the privacy of the guest when they are at balcony. Pillow - The Resort should set up 4 pillow for the bed instead of 2 very soft one on the bed and the remaining is in the closet. Sometimes the hotel guest will not recognize that the second pillow is in the closet. Most of 4 & 5 star hotel now set up 4 pillow on the bed instead of 2. Thank You MesaStila Management, keep it up all the good work. Stayed January 2017, traveled with friends"
