The River Resort: "R and R"
I loved the place. It was such a magical place. Beautiful views and the staff were very excellent! They anticipated your every needs you from a free bicycle to use to how you like your food to come out. Loved the place!Rachamankha: "Spectacular"
"The four of us decided to splurge a bit on our last four nights on our Southeast Asia tour and reserved a suite at the hotel. Our suite was rooms 24/25 right off the entrance. The suite was spectacular with it's own garden, a very large living area and small kitchen and two large bedrooms with each its own bathroom. We loved the space and it was decorated beautifully. The tub/shower stalls were a bit outdated but everything was clean and worked perfectly although in the other room our friends said the water pressure was poor and they did not have hot water one day. The rooms were incredibly quiet despite the fact that one of the bedrooms had windows facing the front and the parking area. The service was incredible and the staff amazingly helpful even from the pick up at the airport. Lots of helpful info and help in navigating some issues that arose during our stay. The grounds are impeccable and there are lots of little surprises for guests around the property (candies, brandy in the library, etc.) Breakfast was incredible with a great selection of food. The service during breakfast broke down a bit we found due either to language barrier or the fact that multiple people were serving all the tables and therefore sometimes you needed to remind a waiter that you had asked for something or because they didn't write down your order. Nothing serious and is something you encounter all over Asia. The waiters were all very charming and sometimes shy about their English but their English is far superior to my Thai so it all worked! We also ate dinner in their restaurant one evening and it was spectacular and a beautiful setting. There was a Thai instrumentalist that played and with the food all made for a memorable experience. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel or stay again in the future. Stayed January 2017, traveled with friends"David’s Kitchen: "Excellent Last Night Out"
We ate here on our final night in Chiang Mai and what a delicious, memorable experience we had! From the moment you step out of the car you are warmly greeted and treated with first class service. Our waiter, Ton, was very friendly, attentive and really made our night memorable. Even David greeted us at the door, and checked up on us several times during the evening. As for the food, it was delicious. We were looking forward to a break from the standard Thai dishes, and there was a vast Italian/French menu to chose from. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin, and I opted for the pork chop with cherry glaze, and both were excellent, and well cooked. The red wine we chose was outstanding and very reasonably priced. David stated he pays special attention to his wine selections to give his customers great wines, and this was definitely proof of that. Definitely a must go to restaurant to finish off an equally amazing visit in Chiang Mai.Amata Lanna: "Leafy Oasis"
Beautiful traditional style accommodation. The staff are charming and helpful. Lovely breakfasts are served undercover outside. A night market and restaurants are close by. Prior to checkin email requests were dealt with promptly.Flower Island: "Fabulous cook"
"We stayed 4 nights on flower island in Bungalow number 5. The room was very clean and spacious, a few meters from the sea, under some trees; perfect for a nap under the shade of palms. The island is small but not tiny, and there are quite a few options for activities: snorkling, kayak, etc. Stuck on an island is nice to know you'll have a good meal, and what a cook they have! The food was delicious, lots of options with fish, meat, and veggies. We loved it! The staff is super nice and very helpful. They organized a show for Chinese New Year, and your could see how they enjoyed entertaining their guests, it was really nice. Highly recommended place to stay in Palawan. Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Tugu Lombok: "Christmas getaway"
"Excellent service where staff knows your name and you are guaranteed to enjoy the privacy and good food. The place also has tons of art allover as the owner is a collector. Great excursions with knowledgeable guides taking you around. Will definitely come back to this hotel and recommend to all my friends."Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Nourishing for body and soul"
We stayed for 10 nights which included 2 nights on the local backwaters on the hotel owned boat - The Lotus. The whole stay was amazingly relaxing and the time on the boat was the most peaceful and comfortable 2 days I have ever spent. There are only 18 very comfortable cabins Either facing the garden or the stunning, endless sandy beach. The staff are all amazing and well trained and so helpful from morning bed tea till the end of a delicious supper. Mainly Indian food ( fine by us) eaten in one of 2 restaurants-one on beach and the other in a cool vaulted traditional structure in the garden. Also serving as a bar and library. Excellent ayerverdic treatments, free daily yoga and various excursions including bird watching from a canoe. Open air bathrooms lovely but watch out for frogs. Excellent tailor on site and have a cookery lesson with Deepak the chef. Everything fairly expensive but done extremely well. Good for individual travellers.MesaStila: "A peaceful sanctuary"
"MesaStila Resort and Spa is very serene and quiet; it is lovely for a getaway to do some writing, reading and relaxing. Our room (Aroum Villa) also had an outdoor day bed area which had the view of Mt Andong which was terrific. The room came with a bath tub which was nice to soak in and just while the time away. The room also had all the necessary amenities to make it a comfortable stay. The staff also made our bed and refilled the water twice a day. We also had complimentary fruits, and desserts in the evening. I would definitely recommend this to friends who are intending to have a short getaway, and I must say the staff at the resort made the stay very comfortable; they were attentive to our needs, and made us feel at home. We had a cycling trip to Candi Umbul and Grabag market, and our guide Nur made the experience very worthwhile. We also had a Sunrise tour at Borobodur and it was breathtaking. The tour guide, Latiff, provided many insights into the culture and philosophy of the Buddhists, and shared information about Indonesia as well. My friend and I didn't manage to try the Hammond spa (which was award-winning) and we would love to do so when we next visit MesaStila. One minor quip I had was how the menu was the same for the 4 days we were there; if there could be more variety, it would have made the resort experience perfect. My friend and I particularly liked the Indonesia dishes (at dinner) and the breakfast menu - A recommended dish would be the Nasi Goreng (fried rice). You can choose either red or white rice for the said dish, and we had the red rice option; I must say, it was a pleasant surprise! I particularly liked the muesli at breakfast - the breakfast was hearty and kept us filled for the day. I can go on about how lovely our experience at MesaStila was, but I'm afraid my words would not do justice to it; you would just have to experience it. They have thought out activities to keep their guests occupied (as the resort is situated rather far away from the city area) and have gone the extra mile to make the experience unforgettable for their guests. Lastly, I would recommend having tea at the Club House; it is calming and relaxing and the pastries went well with their wide selection of teas (and coffee). I truly had a reinvigorating time at the resort; I invite you to experience the same."Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Amazing 2 day safari"
We had such a brilliant time with Noel and his staff at Leopard Safari. We were 2 families with 4 kids aged 7 to 11 years old. The campsite (or glampsite) was beyond my expectation. Everything is provided (including your own flushing toilet!). The food was the best I had in Sri Lanka and the staff were very helpful. There was even a pool to cool down and a lounge/bar area to have a pre-dinner drink and meet fellow guests. The actual safari trips were wonderful. It's not like Africa where the animals are everywhere, but it was so much fun and we saw a lot of them. We saw spotted deer, water buffalo, monkey's, wild boar, elephants, land monitors, wild chickens, many many beautiful birds, crocodiles and 3 leopards. I would highly recommend this safari.Rachamankha: "Tranquil and elegant oasis"
This is an aesthetically pleasing, extremely quiet and comfortable hotel with luxurious accommodations and a welcoming friendly staff. Our family of four (two grown children) stayed in a two bedroom suite connected by a spacious living room with a kitchen stocked with place settings to allow an evening in with delicious take out food from the neighboring chicken (Thai) place. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and the pool and included breakfast were lovely. Very special and highly recommended!Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
