Manda De Laos: "Very special food"

We spent few days in Laos and we tried to eat typical Laotian food: laap, papaya salad, sticky rice, curry, baguettes, grilled fish stuffed with lemon grass etc. The taste of Laotian food is very good but nothing surprising. Taste is like a mix of Thai, Cambodian or in general South East Asian flavors. Visiting Manda de Laos made me change my opinion. The chef managed to add an interesting twist to typical dishes and create incredible combinations and still using local ingredients. The dessert we tried was western style but what can go wrong with banana, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. We ordered duck with tamarind sauce, Buffalo steak, steamed chicken hormok style, pate laotian. The crunchy rice coconut salad was definitely a highlight of the dinner. Everything was very tasty and well presented in bamboo baskets or wooden trays. The place is beautiful, tables around the pond, romantic lights the whole atmosphere feels very special. It's for sure not a cheap eat, but the price is reasonable for very good quality food and quite generous portions.

Tugu Malang: "Flawless and one of a kind."

"Tugu is absolutely soaked in colonial era charm. It comes through in the way they support you throughout the visit. It's in the architecture and extensive art collection. It's all through the menu in the restaurant. It's in the amazing choices of furniture and design. We were given the exact suite we asked for. The tub was beautiful and nicely proportioned. The linens are really comfortable, and high-slung bed is interesting. We spent a lot of time relaxing at the hotel, because it was just that nice. (...) By all means, stay at the Tugu and really explore the place. It's got all kinds of interesting nooks and crannies. Check out Mount Bromo too - and bring your warmest clothes... it's really chilly up there in the morning. Tugu has fast internet, which is good too! Of all the great things which could be said about the hotel -- it really is the wonderful people that make the place great. Friendly and genuine."

Tugu Lombok: "Pure delight"

"We stayed 5 nights to end our honeymoon. The staff goes the extra mile. The grounds are spectacular. Our room felt like a luxury adventure in itself, outdoor shower, giant bed, Balinese art everywhere. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially couples who want a low key and relaxing getaway. The staff set up several tours and all were incredible. Tiu Kelep waterfall is a must."

4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Absolute Bliss"

"We stayed for two nights at the end of our Cambodia trip and it was the perfect place to chill out completely before our epic 36 hour journey home!! As we approached the lodges I couldn't believe how beautiful the setting was its far more beautiful to your own eyes than any of the photos show. We had a lovely welcome and got all the information we needed for our stay and I couldn't wait to get to our tent. We were in West 4 ( there are six tents on each side so we had pretty views from both sides of our balcony ) The interior of the tents is far bigger than I expected and I adored the bathroom :-) as mentioned in previous reviews there is no air conditioning but there is a ceiling fan and two stand alone fans and the room was way cooler than I had expected it to be. Each lodge has a private deck with table and chairs and two sunbeds and we decided that as our time was short we would just spend it relaxing so thats what we did one perfect day internet free just lazing around. One of the staff visit in the afternoon to show you the dinner menu there is set soup then starter and dessert and three choices of main its very good value at $25 per person but there is also an a la carte menu if you prefer that. The food was lovely very nicely presented and the waiting staff were so nice in fact shout out to all staff they were without exception lovely smiling people :-) Breakfast was also very nice esp the homemade pineapple jam and the smiley pancakes :-) oh and the bacon so good :-) I loved the water glasses made out of wine bottles in the tents so enquired if I could buy one they only had one left with a picture of a pangolin on it I had never heard of this animal and one of the staff ( sorry I cant remember his name ) took time to tell me all about this endangered creature . I will be dreaming of 4 rivers everytime I use it :-) Best wishes to you all for continued success and who knows we may return one day and if we do we will stay longer :-)"

Tugu Lombok: "Wir hatten eine phantastische Zeit!"

"Das Tugu Hotel liegt sehr einsam am Sire Beach auf Lombok. Wir hatten für einen Aufenthalt von 5 Nächten eine Svarga Villa gebucht. Die einzelnen Villas verteilen sich über ein sehr großes Gelände, welches direkten Strandzugang hat. In den Pool-Villas hat man direkten Meerblick. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und das Tugu gehört zu den TOP-Hotels, in denen wir jemals übernachtet haben. Das Servicepersonal ist unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit und man wird in der ganzen Anlage immer mit dem Namen angesprochen (was für mich nach wie vor rätselhaft ist, wie das funktionieren kann :) ) Das Frühstück wird á la Carte serviert, was sicher etwas Zeit in Anspruch nimmt, dafür aber unglaublich lecker und frisch ist. Außerdem hat man keine zeitliche Beschränkung für das Frühstück...also auch frühstücken mittags um 12 geht! Die einzelnen Villas sind alle individuell eingerichtet und man kann überall auf dem Gelände und in der Villa sehr schöne Antiquitäten entdecken. Einziges kleines Manko: beim Abendessen ist man eigentlich auf das Restaurant im Hotel angewiesen, da es in der Umgebung keine Restaurants gibt. Das Essen im hoteleigenen Restaurant ist sehr lecker und die Umgebung ist sehr stilvoll (ehemaliger Fürstenpalast). Wir haben im Hotel auch einen individuellen Ausflug gebucht: Wanderung durch die Reisterrassen und zum Wasserfall. Das war unglaublich schön und perfekt organisiert. Den Transfer hat das hoteleigene Fahrzeug mit Fahrer durchgeführt. Achtung für die Anreise: wenn Sie von Bali kommen, nutzen Sie am Besten das Speedboot, dann sind Sie innerhalb 15 Minuten von der Anlegestelle beim Hotel. Der Flughafen ist sehr weit entfernt (ca. 2 Stunden Autofahrt!). Herzlichen Dank nochmals an das Team und das Management des Tugu Hotels! Wir haben uns wirklich sehr sehr wohl gefühlt!"

Discover Muang La | Visit Laos | Luxury & Boutique Hotel: "Amazing"

This is the quite likely the best place I have ever stayed. The service and attention to detail was exceptional. This was our first time in Laos with friends and we felt we really got to see and do so much in the area on a four night stay. Any less than four nights would not give you enough time to appreciate the lodge. The visits to the local villages were fascinating. The food at Muang La was brilliant and even though it was much cooler mornings and evenings, fire pits were brought to our table so we were warm. A truly beautiful place and wonderful staff.

Chakrabongse Villas: "A real oasis – beautiful and worth every cent"

"Chakrabongse Villas is a really luxurious boutique hotel. We were guests here for 3 nights in April, and we wanted for nothing. We were offered a welcome cocktail when we arrived late in the evening, and our villa was traditional Thai style, and it was well appointed, clean and cool. We had a lovely private balcony overlooking the garden, with fresh flowers, pool towels, daybeds and shade aplenty. Having large villas, lovely gardens and only a handful of villas, we hardly ever saw another guest! We enjoyed the pool and the activity on the river, which we were on the banks of. Grounds are very private, with locked gates. Staff are unobtrusive but efficient, and the clamour, heat and bustle of Bangkok stops at the gates, and you enter a true oasis of calm and luxury. The riverside restaurant is also lovely and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast there each morning, with exquisite service, lovely food, and tourism advice as required. We took their longtail boat tour through the canals one afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was reasonably priced, too. One night we ate at the restaurant for dinner, and really, we were treated like royalty. A treat for the soul, and lovely, simple set menu, deliciously prepared. It was my husband's birthday one day, and they gave him a lovely gift. Add all of this together, and you have an exemplary service provider. Expensive but as i say, well worth it. Heritage Suites: "Really lovely"

"A fabulous boutique hotel with one of the nicest rooms/suites I have ever stayed in. The service was so friendly and yet not ingratiating. The pool setting was shaded by beautiful foliage. Food was really nice. Our whole stay was delightful."

Samanea Beach Resort: "a hidden jewel"

An excellent place for quiet relaxing, a small place with much personal charm. Very nice and helpful staff, excellent food, very nice premises and very good installations. The only drawback is the lack of a proper beach.
