Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Lovely"
"This is our second visit to Golden Buddha, the first was 4 years. I would say that many things have improved since then, First and foremost, the new manager, Massi, is truly wonderful - what a change! The restaurant have been rebuilt and now looks more smart, a new shop has been added and a pizza bar near the beach has been built. The staff is extremely friendly and smiley - many thanks to Nin, who works at the restaurant - she is a gem. The massages, we had one every day for 11 days are great too. We loved the food, but I think guests would welcome a slightly wider selection of dishes. The villas are truly well kept and very comfortable - I would recommend staying in a beachfront one and away from the restaurant. You also may want to check how close your particular cottage is to the neighbouring one. the island, with its long, deserted beaches is unique. the fact that there are truly just 3 resorts, of which Golden Buddha is the smartest, remains a big plus to us. There are a couple of things we were not too keen on. I should say that we decided to return to Golden Buddha to relax, enjoy the peace and quietness and pick up yoga again. Since our last visit the resort seems to have become popular with families with young children. Whilst some kids were well behaved, others where not and it made dinner and breakfast at the clubhouse less enjoyable that it might have been. The biggest disappointment were the yoga classes. Alex, the so called teaches ranted at each lesson about, what he called, new age yoga. Basically everything but the pure original yoga. He therefore stated that he was tracking Indian gymnastic instead. What was most annoying was his lack of interest and the fact that he did not want to correct people, hence, in my view, did not teach at all. Lastly, prices for food and massages were a tini bit high I thought and I would recommend that the resort buys lounge chairs for all its guests. In any case, I would still highly recommend Golden Buddha,. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"Locavore: "Still surprised after reading all the reviews about Locavore"
"It doesn't happen to me very often, but in this case the atmosphere and expectations raised by the reviews of hundreds of Tripadvisor members did not reflect the genuine experience we had by dining at Locavore. This kind of intro-paragraph will mostly precede a rather negative and contrary viewpoint but in this case I must say the evening we spend here was truly mesmerising. The amuse-bouches were drenched in local flavours even though some fitted on my fingernails. Imagine with that the 'Ashes' cocktail (you will indeed put a burning stick into the concoction, thus releasing a fair bit of ashes in your drink) and culinaire paradise in coming into wide view. The mains - we went for the 7 courses menu - were a mixed bag with caffeinated fish as a weird but surprisingly good part of it. Overall it is the combination of the nouvelle-cuisine presentation on the dishes combined with the exotic, original and authentic taste of local ingredients (chili pepper flowers, anyone?) that made this a very special evening for the both of us. Do try the Balinese coffee at the end. With a total bill of around 2.700.000, including two glasses of excellent Sangiovese, we probably spent more than half the average salary of the people working there, but as this works out at 160 Euro it was money more than well spend."The Hue House: "The best Hue food in HCMC"
The location is a bit hidden on top of office building on roof top. You will need to take the office lift to 10th floor. It is a bit hot in the afternooon, although they have fan there. Perfect for dinner. The food is super good. I love the bun bo hue.. the best I ever tasted. I came here twice this week. The place is still quiet, but I suspect won't be for long when the secret is out. The only area of improvement is to have better desert menu, especially sweet desert from central region.Rachamankha: "Calming, beautiful botique hotel"
Beautiful abbey turned hotel in the middle of the city. Nice amenities, superb sevice, plus scrumptous breakfasts included. Centrally located with only a 15 minute max walk to wherever you want to go in the old city.Inle Princess Resort: "A few suggestions"
"I don't need to say much more about the quality of this hotel or the beauty of its location. Go to Myanmar. Go to Inle Lake. Stay at the Inle Princess. Here, though, are a few tips for those who do follow the directives above: 1. Take advantage of the complimentary shoe shine. 2. There really isn't any charge for the beer in the mini-bar. 3. The hotel leaves earplugs in the room (presumably for those whose sleep might be disturbed by frogs and lizards). You may not need the earplugs during the night, but hold onto them, because they are very useful on the boats, which have very loud outboard motors. 4. The boat tour of the lake is essential. Make sure to include a visit to a local market. The basic boat tour lasts for one day, but it is a very long day (especially if you start with the market), so you should consider splitting the tour and doing it over two days. 5. When you visit the village of the silversmiths, avoid the large shop at the entrance to the village -- the one with the tiny workshop staffed by ""brothers"" who play with their cell phones until a tourist boat arrives and a large showroom stuffed with overpriced silver that must come from China. 6. The artisanal workshops on the village side of the hotel are definitely worth a visit. 7. Eat the Shan noodles for breakfast -- order them the evening before."LES MAISONS D’ITAC: "A small but fantastic resort"
"We spent a long weekend in the bamboo house at this small but beautiful resort. Great experience. You are sleeping 3 meters from the beach! You hear the waves and all kinds of sounds in the night, very relaxing. The atmosphere at the place is great. It is sort of at the end of the road, so there is no restaurants or things to do within walking distance. But the staff and the manager Bryan are very serviceminded and will help you with anything you want to do or go to. We recommend you to eat all meals at the resort and then there's no need to go anywhere else. Just stay at the resort and enjoy it. We would love to come back some day! "Satri House: "Great hotel"
"Stayed here for a first time visit to Laos. The arrival is a little underwhelming as the hotel has no frontage to speak of, just an opening with a road down to a doorway very tastefully done. Inside is a revelation- a lovely relaxed layout with 2 pools, bar and restaurant. The room was spacious with 4 poster bed, bathroom, separate toilet and large balcony. The room was clean had all facilities including fruit basket and toiletries in glass bottles. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Breakfast east cooked to order with fresh juice, omelettes, croissants etc. Anything asked for was brought without fuss. We did try the restaurant which was very good in the evening. Slight criticisms - there was a cocktail menu at the bar but the barman didn’t really know how to make them. It is about 1 km from the centre so a bit of a walk to get into Luang Prabang town."CABOCHON: "French Indochine Chic"
"This hotel is set in an elegant period building down a quiet lane. It has a 1920s period styling with a bit of big game hunter and French colonialism thrown in for good measure. It's not an all-out luxury hotel. It's more an experience hotel, and I had a great experience. IT's like going back in time to a by-gone period which a jarring and interesting juxtaposition from the hustle and bustle happening less than 100m on Sukhumvit. Choose this for a unique boutique experience in central Bangkok. "Villa Song: "Exciding high expectations"
"This is no ordinary 5-star rating and I will soon tell you how this hotel succeeded in exciding my high expectations. It all started at the airport where I was patiently waiting to be picked up by a prearranged car that would take me to my hotel. After quite some time I decided to call the hotel to check where my transport was. When giving the hotel my reservation number, I was informed that they had not received my booking and that they were not expecting me until the following month. I suddenly realized that I had made a terrible mistake with dates, and simply booked a room once month prior to my actual arrival. To my great luck, Villa Song where able to help me out and arranged a very nice room for my week-long stay. They also quickly arranged a pick up for me. I was prepared this mistake would cost me dearly, but to my great surprise I was charged the same amount. That’s 5-star service in my book! Thank you! Now, a few things about this lovely hotel; It is a little bit outside the center of town, but it only takes about 15 minutes to get there. The hotel offers a free boat transport that leaves conveniently just outside the premises several times from morning to evening. The staff is very attenuative and make sure you feel at home during your stay. They have a great pool and the food at the restaurant is fantastic and reasonably priced. There is a nice-looking spa, but I never had the chance to try it out. There is also a small gym next to the pool with all the things you need to stay in great shape. If I would mention one thing that could be improved, that would be to give the guests a way to decide whether they want their towels in the room replaced or not. Considering the environmental impact from all the washing, I believe this to be a fair way to save some water and energy. Many hotels offer replacement simply by asking their guests to leave the towels on the floor if they need washing. Thank you for a lovely stay. I can’t wait to visit you again."4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Amazing Exquisitley!"
