Manukan Island Resort: "Superb"
Amazing scenery, excellent beach, brilliantly designed tree houses, very good foods and well trained employees. Manukan island has the best beach in the area in terms of soil and snorkelling and this resort makes the experience even better oneCheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Lovely hotel in every way"
Just had 4 nights at Cheong Fatt Tze. Beautiful hotel - historic, atmospheric - I constantly wanted to take more photos. Our room was large with great attention to historic feel. The breakfasts were lovely - fruit, varied selections of Asian and Western food - gorgeous dining room too. Staff great. A wonderful experience.NOEL RODRIGO’S LEOPARD SAFARIS: "Excellent safari experience in Yala National Park"
"We loved every moment of our time with Sajit, Praneeth and the boys at Leopard Safaris in Yala National Park. We stayed for 3 nights in March 2016 and would definately go back. Luxury camping at its best with one of the most comfortable beds throughout our stay in Sri Lanka, our own flushing loo and warm water shower. The food was excellent and plenty of it (it was great to have explanations on the local cuisine, it's ingredients and how to eat like the locals). The game drives were of course a highlight and our guides worked very hard to ensure we got the most from our experience - each safari was unique and it was nice to be able to explore different sections of the park. We appreciated each and every aspect of our time with Leopard Safaris and would absolutely recommend this company to anyone thinking about a stay in Yala. "The Cabochon Hotel: "Perfect weekend retreat"
What a great hotel! Tucked away at the end of the long stretch of busy Sukhumvit is this gem of a hotel. Small and charming. Friendly, attentive and personable staff. Has a great lounge for cocktails and a rooftop pool. Just 13 rooms!Rahai’i Pangun: "Pure and Natural – Katingan River – Sebangau National Park"
This was an exciting destination - the Sebangau Nat Park, Kalimantan. I was part of a group exploring the Katingan River area for the first time ever, with WOW Borneo, who is the first commercial tourist boat operator allowed to venture commercially on this river. Hail to WOW Borneo for being such pioneers. What explorers we were! This was a unique trip into nature. The boat cruise will now be on the regular WOW schedule. It's a an adventurous cultural trip - you simply must go. Setting camera traps for the clouded leopards in the Sebangau National park with the park ranger was the highlight for me, treking at night in the forest was a first for me, sleeping in homestays in the traditional Dayak villages - wonderful, discovering the black water lakes- beautiful, having the hornbills swooping across the wide Katingan River was a delight indeed and sleeping in forest cabins by special permission - well, that was very special. I have so much to say about this trip. We traversed the smaller rivers by canoe which allowed us to get really close to wildlife and we saw orangutans and proboscis monkeys in their natural setting. Scrumptious lunches were served on board every day, and the cooks produced the most exquisite dishes. The food is a big plus on a WOW Borneo trip. I have been on 5 trips now. What I loved about this NEW Katingan River Sebangau National Park trip is the combination of meeting local families and sleeping in villages, which allows you the chance to talk with local Dayak people. Added to this you have the comfort and luxury of the boat every day. A magical trip into a magical part of Indonesia. Should you go? Yes, most definitely. What you come back with is memories of a truly peaceful place, with silence and beauty that is untouched and not commercialized. Our side trip to the Borneo Orangutan facility BOS, was a great bonus, as we got to hear about orangutans from the experts. In all my travels of Indonesia, for me, this was the most significant trip ever - from a standpoint of solitude, natural beauty and a new discovery into protected lands.Dewakan: "Great experience!"
"Just checked their website and they seemed to have changed their menu! Seems like what I had was a mixture of their old menu and the new one. Snacks (Choy Sum Nori, Beef Tendons, Mango Curry, Yoghurt and Roselle): Choy Sum Nori was quite cool and memorable! The others were ... interesting? Could be too weird for some. Starters (Blue Mackerel, Roast Mushrooms, Grilled Vegetables, Home Made Noodles): Quite liked the roast mushrooms. Was told to eat from right to left, but perhaps plating it from left to right would be make more sense since most people hold their forks on the left and knives on the right? Just a suggestion! The noodles weren't that great, however. Mains (Pike Conger, Duck, Quail): The highlight of the night! I really loved each of the 3 main dishes, but sadly two of them don't seem to be on the new menu anymore. Probably one of the most memorable dishes I've had. Desserts (Mulberries, Gula Melaka, Chocolate Tart, Popsicles): The 3 desserts from the menu were great. At the end they gave us 3 additional popsicles even though we were absolutely stuffed by then. Really didn't like the weird popsicle flavours, but to each their own perhaps? Can't imagine it would be popular since none of us liked the popsicles. Service was great, however some were a little too soft-spoken when it came to explaining the dishes. Not sure if having descriptions left on the table would be too tacky but I would love to have something to refer to while eating."The Island Lodge: "One Night Not Enough"
We stayed here as part of our Les Rives two day Mekong Delta tour and couldn't have been happier. It was on an island in the middle of the Mekong and the setting was wonderful and relaxing. We were met by Michel, the owner, and his wife and were informed we were the only guests that night, which meant the staff were all ours! We relaxed by the pool and had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant, with a very affordable bottle of French wine. Our room had a wonderful view of the Mekong and was fitted out with quality fittings, including a lovely four poster. The whole hotel is full of hand picked vintage items from the region and this adds to it's charm. All in all a great stay but be warned one night won't be enough in this beautiful resort. Thanks Michel.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Fantastic for Birders and Animal Lovers"
I recently experienced a safari that lived up to its expectations. I am a birder and saw 100 species of birds with Saj , an experienced guide in the birding world and animals alike. We had 5 sightings of leopards, elephants, jackal, spotted deer, water buffalo, monkeys and mongoose . The food was beautifully presented and was nutritious. At the end of each safari we were greeted with a cold drink and a refreshing cold cloth with lemongrass. This was a safari that I wished would never end.Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Amazing and unique hotel"
We loved our six nights and were lucky enough to stay in Escoy - the room with a gold leaf timber Chinese screen. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the Georgetown location fascinating. We also had an excellent meal at the Indigo restaurant.Satri House: "Super hôtel"
