Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "residing in a museum"

Perfect place to stay for a few nights, very central to the downtown heritage streets and close to the beach front as well. Service is very attentive and the rooms have all the comfort you need on top of the stylish ambiance and grandeur of a historical mansion.

Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Simply wonderful"

"Wonderful place highly recommend it . We spent New Year's Eve here and it was fantastic . Inle Heritage has only 6 rooms which makes it very cosy and exclusive . The whole structure is built on stilts on the southern side of the lake. The rooms are very spacious and the bathroom is made in traditional style with good space for clothing . Every room stands alone with great privacy and a terrace with sunbeds overlooking the lake . So peaceful and truly special . Inle Heritage is not just a guest house is also the training grounds for 48 local students which attend hospitality classes on site everyday , however you wouldn't even realise that if not told as they are organically blending with the place daily activities. By staying here you contribute to their tuition fees as 60 % is reinvested in the community and different programs that run onsite . One other beautiful touch is the vegetable gardens that are grown onsite and everything you eat is freshly picked from there daily . Inle Heritage also runs a reintegration program of the Burmese cats, as they were apparently disappearing from their original land . There is a section , like a small island , that completely dedicated to the cats . I find it quite cute , but I am a cat lover , otherwise could come across a little random if you would ask my boyfriend instead:))) On site there is a shop which sells most products you will find around on your artisan village visits , I think quality here was better and even cheaper than in the small artisan shops . Few notes on the place : dress warm as in the morning and evenings gets very chilly ( December / January i was there ) Take into account around 20$ for each transfer from and to the hotel as is surrounded by water so you need to take a boat ( which is a nice experience on its own) to get anywhere Highly recommend the sunset on the lake The staff is magnificent and the level of service was comparable to European standards , food also fantastic they even catered for me being a vegetarian adapting all menus; the warmth and attentiveness of the people here do make it a truly unforgettable experience . Mathis Retreat: "great hotel"

Quiet rice fields rooms with great pool and good breakfast. Good to use as base for family to explore Ubud and neighbouring villages. Manager was great and helped organize quite a few day trips for us.

Kinabalu Park: "Highly recommended"

Not only for a mountain climber but also for nature lovers.Many tracks to walk with plants, birds etc. Good restaurant there too.Really enjoy the scenary and all the birds around.Nice weather so can walk a whole day.

Glenburn Tea Estate: "Outstanding"

"We stayed 3 nights for a family birthday celebration. We were 5 adults. It was a wonderful respite after travelling the rough roads of Sikkim. I agree with the earlier reviews and experiences and won't repeat the wonderful activities available. We did the walk to the river which we really enjoyed. On arrival (after being met with cool refreshing flannels and homemade lemonade) I lay down on a wooden bench by river and within seconds a lovely man appeared with pillow and large cushion for bench. I enjoyed a snooze while lunch on the barbecue. Wonderful care and our needs were met before we realised we had a need. Lovely lovely people. We chose not to dine communally but enjoyed wonderful candlelit family dinners on the terrace of our bungalow, served by a lovely gentle caring man. The drive into Darjeeling is long, bumpy and slow. I would recommend you don't waste a day of your precious time in Glenburn. Rather spend two nights in Darjeeling before or after Glenburn. We would have liked at least another night in Glenburn. It really is worth the journey in."

Tugu Malang: "Treated like royalty!"

"We received a gracious welcome with fresh juice & traditional snacks as we checked in. The staff were helpful, respectful & kind. Rooms were lovely, and the hotel is filled with wonderful museum quality antiquity. Every meal was delicious. Prices were great. Enjoyed high tea, multiple Spa treatments, both a cooking class and a ""beauty class"". The classes (one each day) included tours to local markets to gather the ingredients. So interesting and both guides were knowledgeable and informative. We weren't rushed and allowed time to shop & see how Indonesians ""grocery shop"". Staff seemed to anticipate our needs and were always one step ahead making sure our comfort was always a top priority. We highly recommend this hotel!"

Talabgaon Castle: "An Indian Gem!"

We travelled here a family of seven and were treated with warmth and like royalty. Would highly recommend get off the beaten track in luxury! We went to the local town, Lalsot to see the market and purchase bangles, enjoyed the evening cooking school/demo and the camel cart ride in the local village. Bring individuality wrapped sweets (e.g. Starbursts) for local kids. Lots of history here.

Neeleshwar Hermitage: "lazy days"

a superb resort on the Arabian sea with a private and pristine beach. Fantastic infinity pool and food to match. Staff friendly, accommodation spacious and clean, an ideal spot to wind down whilst travelling in Kerala. The Lotus houseboat "the best". Dining on the beach a highlight. Well done staff for making our stay perfect.

Sea Dance Resort: "excellent"

It's rare to be compelled to write a review before leaving a property but in terms of value for money, service, food and atmosphere Sea Resort really deserves immediate praise. When you know the names of the staff, and they yours, within hours of settling in you know you are on to a winner. If you enjoy great breakfasts, beach front dinners, chilled out family friendly boutique style digs then I reckon this could be right up your street. On an Island that is , sometimes, decidedly hit and miss in terms of the Quality/Cost/Service ratio Sea dance delivers on all three.Thanks Poy. Helen, Kent and Faith and Staff. You are legends!!
