The Cabochon Hotel and Residence: "Deserves it’s great reputation"
"Lovely decor, lovely building, excellent staff, convenient quiet location, great breakfasts. Don't use Mr Noi Monyoopanow as your limousine driver. He chain talked to a variety of women using several phones for the whole trip to Hua Hin, often driving fast one handed. Front office and all staff were extremely helpful, and fantastic. Great breakfast. In retrospect we should have had dinner here, rather than a very underwhelming expensive meal at Nahm (which I wouldn't recommend - see separate review). Would suggest that each room have it's own iron and ironing board, although this was quickly provided. We also asked that our room be sprayed against mosquitoes after we left in the evening, although we had no problem with mosquitoes, just noticed loosely fitting balcony doors. Pool area was nothing special, but adequate, and we certainly enjoyed a quick dip in the pool at the end a day out, before getting ready for dinner. Would highly recommend, and we hope to stay again when next in BKK."Rachamankha: "A quiet retreat in busy Chiang Mai"
"What a beautiful hotel. This hotel has really beautiful gardens with lots of little retreat areas tucked away for you to relax with a book or a refreshing drink. Our room was on the ground floor and was spacious and comfortable. It had a very comfortable king sized bed and a roomy bathroom with luxury bath products. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. They performed their duties efficiently and quietly. Breakfast and dinner is served in a beautifully designed courtyard with a cosy feel. Especially at night when the area is subtly lit with candles on each table. We chose to eat in the restaurant each night because of the excellent choice of delicious food. The pool area was also very relaxing and well maintained. We totally enjoyed our stay at the Rachamankha and plan to return in the near future. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple"The Village House: "Great stay away from the buzz"
"We stayed in April, trip with my mother. This hotel was a little further out but they were so great at helping to arrange transport and packages before we arrived: orang utans, bake national park etc. The hotel was small, simple, clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful, but what was most surprising was the food! It was delicious, perfectly prepared. A walk along the beautiful, wild beach is also definitely recommended. Not a swimming, crystal clear waters beach, but wild and gorgeous. I would recommend for a quiet getaway in a great location!"Villa Song: "Singing praises for Villa Song"
Room upgraded and flowers for my wedding anniversary, personal service put a smile on my dial. Absolutely nothing to fault with our stay. Meal in the evening was great as was the breakfast. The complimentary speed boat to the city was fantastic too.Les Maisons Wat Kor: "Paradisiac"
A warm and friendly hotel where you feel good, I occupied a room during a couple of days, the room was spacious and comfortable, the gardens were just amazing and the staff was smiling and thoughtful. I warmly recommend The Maisons Wat KorSatri House: "Lovely boutique hotel, close to town but far enough away…"
Loved this little sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Luang Prabang - but close enough to get to the night market and most everything else in 5+ minutes. Lots of lovely sitting areas, nice grounds, beautiful antiques and local flavor. We stayed here 4 nights and felt like we were the only ones here for the 1st 2 days... as more travelers arrived the tranquility stayed intact because of all the lovely spaces around the property. And even though it was quite cold in the mornings and evenings they provided space heaters in the restaurant, sitting areas, and an amazing fire in the main 'family' room of the hotel. The staff was wonderful and at every turn saw to our needs - including coffee in the room before the restaurant opened. LOVED that there were not TV's in the rooms - great way to keep the kids engaged in games and reading when we weren't exploring. The rooms are large and the beds exceptionally comfortable - the mosquito netting - which may be needed in the more humid/hot months was charming. And the food in the restaurant was delicious! Stay for an evening meal or 2 - you will not be sorry. And the breakfast - while not a buffet - was absolutely delicious! Eggs to order, amazing handmade jams and chutneys, delicious croissants and toast. If Asian breakfast is more your thing than they offer this as well. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Luang Prabang - from our ride around town this still seems the best place to stay with high marks on all fronts.Locavore: "EXQUISITE"
For what you pay for, you are getting a Michelin style restaurant meal. There were certain courses that did not hit it out of the park, but overall the dining experience was superb. Easily the highlight of my Bali trip.Misool Eco Resort: "Beyond expectations"
My husband and I got certified in scuba to come here, and it was worth everything. Facilities were wonderful considering mission of resort. If I had vacation time and money, I would bring my three kids there tomorrow. House reef was such a lovely snorkel opportunity. Food was delicious, as long as one can let go of Western thoughts. I personally found nudibranchs, scorpion fish, and a frog fish (fist bump!) and saw mandarin fish on dusk dive. For the bird addicts, we saw wild sulfur crested cockatoos on the resort island. I will budget to get here again asap with my kids. Dive master took great care of us... (Hugs to Kiikii, despite my great faith that he was Benny). Wait staff was always ready with an eager selamat pagi for early breakfast. Getting here is difficult, but As noted above, I would come back in a heartbeat. Shout out to Mark, Sue and Calvin. I cried when I left...Villa Song Saigon: "Highly recommended"
"We arrived at Villa Song after two weeks of non-stop sight-seeing in Laos and Vietnam and we were dirty and knackered by the time we got here. Saigon is a bit of a strange place as there really isn't much to see in the centre and the one trip we did down to the Mekong Delta in the car (5 hour round trip) to a floating market (and strange tourist trap village) was not worth it. I think at the time I would have marked more harshly but the benefit of a bit of hindsight and comparing the hotel to all the other 9 stops we did, has given me a chance to mark it more favorably! Location: I really cannot see why anyone would want to stay in the centre of Saigon. This hotel is in the expat district on the banks of the Mekong in a much nicer area - usually there is a shuttle boat into the centre (which I would have liked to take from their pier) however it's not running at the moment as the city authorities are re-furbing the main pier in the city centre. There is a shuttle bus but we didn't bother taking it. As someone else has said, there is a noisy bar (with terrible food - don't eat there) across the way. It was only noisy on the final morning we were there, but the hotel could do with sorting this out so guests are not disturbed. Room: We arrived about 11am and our designated room wasn't ready. The receptionist asked if we would like to see a different room (they're all different which is a really nice touch) so she showed us room 6 at the back, which has a secret staircase up to it and also the room we were supposed to have which they were in the process of cleaning. That room had a larger balcony but in the end I picked the room at the back by the pool and I didn't regret it. F&B: Breakfast is a la carte - TBH I personally prefer a buffet as I find the food is cold (especially eggs) by the time it arrived with us, and the staff had some difficulties understanding our order. We also ate lunch and we had a top pho - the menu isn't that extensive but the food was highly quality. The hotel provides a list of recommended restaurants in the expat area, which we ate at and I agree, they are good! There is a supermarket up the road (about 15 mins walk away) so if you want to bring back some additional beers to put in the fridge, they didn't seem to mind. On the road towards the supermarket we also found a great French deli with cheese & meats and an Italian pop-up place run by two Italians. These are on the right as you walk towards the British high-school. There is also a craft beer place with a really good local restaurant in the same street - about 20 minutes away (you should be able to find it on the TA map of the area). Facilities: the pool area was lovely. We had one full day round the pool and it was super quiet - if only the weather had been better (but that's not the hotel's fault). I had been intending to book something in the spa but in the end I just didn't have the energy for it, so can't comment on anything else. Finally a couple of points for improvement: - It would be great if the room came with a proper guest book - there were bits of info scattered about the hotel room. Surely a guest book can be sorted with very little organisation? - Please use less packaging on your laundry items. We were two weeks in when we stayed and needed to wash a lot of clothes - everything came back individually wrapped in cardboard and plastic - there was mountains of waste. Not eco and very expensive! It took us ages to put all the laundry away and the bin was over-flowing all over the place with all the packaging. Overall - great hotel, great location. I would stay again..."Glenburn Tea Estate: "It is a beautifully located property on the crest of a hill giving you a 360 degree view of all the hills around"
"This boutique hotel gives you the experience of complete tranquility, as it is situated in the middle of a tea estate surrounded by luxuriant greenery. The bird life, the changing cloud patterns and occasional rain immerses you in nature and your inner self. The staff is very obliging and attentive and the cuisine is delectable. A total experience."
