Mie Cafe: "Fabulous food – speciality vegan taster menu"
"We were recommended this by the chef at Cusine Wat Damnak and were not at all disappointed. We selected the vegan menu as it sounded really interesting and found it to be absolutely delicious....definitely worth having even if you are not vegan. The Samlor kary was superb and the chocolate lychee desert truly fabulous. Another fabulous meal - great way to end our holiday"Sandat Glamping Tents: "Luxury Hideaway next to rice paddies & jungle"
We stayed in one of the villas which shares a pool with 3 others. The accommodation was gorgeous - bedroom above plus semi open air bathroom and day bed area downstairs and beautiful decor, art & landscaping throughout the property. The boutique nature of the venue meant that the restaurant & lounge were calm but service and food still excellent. Given that this is nestled into the jungle, frogs & other wildlife were pretty noisy through the night but that added to the charm for us. We also enjoyed a private yoga class with a super teacher in the yoga pavilion early morning.Villa Song Saigon: "beautiful riverside hotel"
We stayed 3 nights in March. Everything about the hotel was lovely- room, staff, pool and food. District 2 is quiet with good local restaurants and bars and taxis from the airport and city centre cheap. The hotel also provides a boat shuttle to the city which was great fun. Rooms on the upper floors will be quieter. The Island Lodge: "Fabulous"
Stayed for 3 nights. Beautiful relaxing place to stay. Service excellent and very attentive. Would highly recommend. Good value. More 5 star than three. Arranged transfers direct with them. All worked very well.Villa Mathis: "Fantastic stay in a little piece of paradise"
"Stayed in La Villa Mathis for three days and enjoyed every bit of it. Me and my travel companion tremendously enjoyed the quiet ambience of the villa and the villa manager Christian was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. The villas have several swimming pools secluded from one to another and we felt like it is reserved specially for us! What a treat! The villa is located quite near with Seminyak strip and the villa staffs will assist you in arranging the transportation. The room was designed in a very thoughtful details and we felt like we can really switch off and rejuvenate in this place. Overall it is an absolutely amazing stay and we definitely will come back to Villa Mathis!"Le Calao: "Superb."
We can’t praise this restaurant enough. It has only recently opened and there are a few minor details that need sorting (like no bread and butter plates for the delicious and generous servings of complimentary home made rolls) but the main thing is the food, and that is exquisite. The ambiance puts you immediately in a good mood and the staff are attentive without being over the top. The Lao menu is extensive and is quite difficult to trawl through unless you have a good knowledge of the dishes and how big or small they are. I had pork stew not realising it was more of a soup. My mistake, but delicious just the same. Two nights later we went again and stuck to the Western menu. My wife had a repeat of the French Onion Soup followed by the Mushroom Ravioli. I had the Pumpkin Soup and Roast Pork Knuckle. All dishes were beyond compare and a testament to the Chef’s expertise. A delicious red and white house wine each topped off a beautiful night and at a surprisingly reasonable price of US$70. Remember, the Ravioli is to die for.Villa Song Saigon: "Peace in Siagon"
My wife found this Boutique Hotel in a slightly out of the way spot, which ment we had peace quiet and a quality accomodation package, all within a 5 minute private speed boat trip to the centre of the city... what a winning combination. We loved it.Maduzi Hotel: "Fantastic"
It is good to know there is a little oasis right in the centre of Bangkok. A great location right at the intersection of the MRT and BTS so travelling around is made easy. The rooms are large and comfortable, especially the beds that provide the best sleep. The staff are all very friendly and helpful that compliments the design and creative art work throughout. Breakfast is a treat with plenty of choices to please the palette. This will be my number one choice for a hotel in Bangkok going forward.Bali Jiwa Villa: "Bali’s best kept secret"
"Bali Jiwa Villa, located in the Ubud district is a hidden gem. Situated in the small village of Desa Kelusa on the outskirts of Ubud, it is set among beautiful rice fields in total privacy. It is a little hard to find, however this is what makes it an unique getaway for a couple looking for a romantic retreat or just a place far away from the usual crowds. There are two separate villas that are mirror images of each other, both with the same wonderful view, yet both completely separate and private. The room is colorful and tastefully decorated with one huge bed in the middle and comfy seats all around. The bathroom is large and modern and very well appointed. Each villa has it’s own pool that sits overlooking the rice paddies, but still offers privacy as it sits up above the rice fields. You can see people working in the fields sometimes, which gives you an unique feeling of being part of the village life that goes by each day. Bali Jiwa Villa has to be one of Ubud’s best kept secrets for those people who want to discover somewhere quite unique and special and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to experience the true Balinese countryside. Nigel."Maduzi Hotel: "Our Bangkok oasis"
"We have stayed here numerous times and we'll keep coming back for more. The location is second to none, perfectly located right near the ever so efficient BTS, ASOK station, yet you feel as though you're In your own little oasis once you walk through the gates. (Do yourself a favour and buy a 'Rabbit Card' so you can jump on and off the transport system with ease and enjoy all that this vibrant city has to offer). The staff are always happy to assist with anything you require (btw, they won't accept any tips, it's their policy - no matter how hard you try.) The rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully appointed. The mini bar is included in the price of the room too, another quirky yet welcome Maduzi offering. Breakfasts are delicious! We almost always get the Japanese set breakfast. You can enjoy this in their fabulous restaurant where you'll also have a buffet to pick from, all inclusive. Or, you can order it to your room and they'll put together a buffet selection for you. Yes, this is a small boutique hotel with only 40 rooms and 7 levels, no pool or laundry (you can get the hotel to organise your washing for you) but the beautiful ambiance all around, central location and friendly staff make up for the lack of amenities. We'd choose this place over any of the big guys any day!"
