Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "A unique experience, best service you can find"

"We have traveled a lot around the world in both high luxury hotels and small guesthouses, but we must admit that I have rarely had such a nice experience as the one we got at Thahara Inle Heritage. To us, this hotel has it all : the luxury bungalows with quiet private terrace right in the middle of Inle lake (that you would expect to find in a a 5* hotel) and the adorable welcoming service that you can only find in small intimate guesthouses. Plus, the food is divine (and the breakfast, Oh My !) and very much affordable for the location, so what more can we ask for ? Well, you could wish that your money goes to a good cause, and it does. Thahara Inle Heritage is part of the not-for-profit training center that prepare local young people for careers in restaurants and hotels. That explains the amazing and welcoming service ! It also had its own amazing garden full of delicious vegetables, which explains the amazing local cuisine of their restaurant, and works towards full sustainability, so you are assured to contribute to a green stay. You can also take part in one of their cooking class if you have time, surely the best one you can find in the country ! Or you can just wander around the Thahara, pay a visit to their Burmese cat center or check out their local Aquarium. Or you can hop on a boat and head to Nampan market, 5 minutes away, or leave for a memorable boat drive to the Sankar, on the very southern shores of the lake. Endless possibilities, total freedom, breathtaking views. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Myanmar. PS: as for the previous comment, fear nothing if you are a light sleeper, Thahara provides you with earplugs in your room, though we did not need them. And if you are afraid to be cold at night on the lake, you will be happily surprised to find hot water bottles in your bed to warm you up when you come back to your bungalow at night. Brilliant. Inle Princess Resort: "Heavenly Spot"

This is a spectacular property. From the moment you approach this resort by boat, you feel tranquil and welcomed! To protect the peaceful nature of the resort, it is required that the long boats shut off their motors. You are paddled to the reception dock by a local paddling with his legs. The property is well laid out, with cabins spread out along the property. Some of them are lake view, others are pond view. The cabins are comfortable, with teak woodwork everywhere. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious and clean, with an outdoor (enclosed) shower to boot. The service is attentive. Overall, this is a relaxing, enjoyable property that strives to fit in with the local culture. The only downside was spooty internet access, but this is a minor detail which is easily overlooked. Highly recommended.

The Twelve Hotel: "Perfect Tranquility"

"Stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our SE 4 month adventure and we really could not have picked a better start. The location is quiet and peaceful which you really need in Bangkok .. and if you have not visited the city before you will not realise how much an oasis like this hotel is needed! The staff were great especially the owner Atty who really could not do enough for us. The rooms are beautiful and the whole hotel oozes style and tranquility. Fresh bread, eggs cooked to order and great coffee for breakfast just the icing on the cake. We walked up the BTS ( sky train ) most days . About 15 min walk but just 40 baht for two in a tuk tuk. Lots of very cool bars and restaurants a short tuk tuk away if you don’t want to walk! A great neighbourhood with a great mix of Thai people and some tourists. Loved it and know that this hotel is going to be hard to beat on the rest of this adventure!"

Locavore: "Still the best – even better than last time"

I tha been two years since my last visit - luckily the quality is even better now. The dishes are beautiful to look at, each has its distnict taste and the drink pairing is clever. Steady quality through the whole meal - 2 1/2 hours went by too soon.

The Cabochon Hotel and Residence: "Classic & Valued Boutique Hotel in BKk ever!"

"Hiii ! This is for many times I visited this city, BANGKOK. THAILAND!!! I heart you ever. For this time I traveled with my cousins & her daughter, for them that was 1st visit & memorable they whispered me at the plane :p Well, i would like to falls some wordings here about this boutique hotels! We spent only 3 nights 4 days on the first week of June, this hotel is stunning & room was spacious with living room shared & an amazing design... & other good point is their location was a central of bangkok in Sukhumvit street as i know every single corner way of it. Almost forgot, my room with a shower in the bathtub anyway, it was really an unique style i have ever seen... so perfectly! Service was excellent since we got an assistance from the staff, the girl one who wears white blouse & served our breakfast is well named ""A"" (read : ei'), the bartender names Thanuwong Hompan Kun, the girl i forgot her name who welcomed us when we were check in at evening & the guy at the roof top who always met when i was swimming at the roof top ... i thanking to you guys & warmest hospitality when i was there. Ohh ya, we had dinner at 2nd night in lovely boutique hotel (The Cabochon), the food was really fantastic taste & good presentation as same as we had breakfast style (semi buffet & ala carte service) :) I highly recommend this boutique hotel & am already planning return for a holiday with my sister (hopefully get special rate / hotelier rate since me & her are hotelier in Bali) :D next year where i will most definitely return to The Cabochon Hotel Thank you & i do sorry to keep you waiting a month for my reviews :) Do not worry i remember that, & now see above ! 555555 Kapunkaaapppppp!"

Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Total paradise and relaxation exceeding expectations"

"This was our first visit to this amazing resort. The journey there, from the welcoming sign at the airport, to a quick efficient drive to our boat to the bay, exceeded our expectations. The arrival view was mesmerising: a wide open bay with a vast long sandy beach with a little hut for lunchtime and a yoga sala, and of course dense nature. Massi, the manager, embodied true professionalism. He welcomed us to our beautiful house Baan Tamarind and gave us thorough details about the resort's amenities. Our house was beyond our expectations. With two stunning bedrooms both with an amazing view of the sea, and stunningly designed outdoor bathrooms, we also had an amazing living space upstairs as a canope amongst trees with a sunset view everyday! The food was probably the peak of the stay. The Club House has been renovated in a spacious way that makes you feel at home away from the busy city life. There is a new menu EVERYDAY (something rare in the hotel industry where after a few days, you run out of culinary options) with completely different meals - each very distinct and deliciously made at defying prices for the quality. The staff constantly walks around with smiles on their faces and are always available if you have an inquiry. The morning buffet and cooked meals are my favorite. You get to sit outside or inside (your choice, although I recommend outside due to the beautiful sea view) and make your own freshly squeezed juice. They have an amazing tea selection and of course the fruits are exquisite. I specially recommend their Thai omelette with rice - a must have during your stay, truly a taste of Thailand! I cannot describe the joy I felt when going to get massages. Porn and Poy are possibly the kindest ladies and although they may seem gentle based on their graciousness, their hands work wonders. I have had back problems for quite some time and honestly, felt rejuvenated every time I came out of the massage sala! The Thai massage is a must. In all, the hotel was anything I could have asked for. You are truly immersed in nature, at night hearing the strangest most relaxing sounds from this rich ecosystem to walking on their vast empty white sand beach with a light breeze brushing against you in the bright sun. Room Tip: Sea front views are the most rewarding due to the proximity to the beach and stunning view!"

Satri House: "Just wonderful and charming"

"Excellent in every way! Top in quality of the rooms decorated with local and colonial furniture, the staff is helpful, the spa was really agreeable, the restaurant is top even if the staff is still lacking a bit of experience in the way of taking orders. For sure, this will be the place I will go back to next time I am in Luang Prabang."

Muang La Resort: "A little paradise in Laos"

"Staying at the Muang La Resort is a pleasure, from the moment you arrive till the moment you leave. The bungalows are well kept, clean and beautifully decorated. Little details like welcoming letters, weather information and slippers make you feel a welcome guest. Dinner is a surprise and never disappointing! Lao haute cuisine!! But what really makes the difference is the staff of the resort and I mean the whole staff! From gardeners to managers, everybody is attentive, helpfull and kind. If you plan a trip to the north of Laos, this is definitely a hotel to include in your plans."

Glenburn Tea Estate: "Dreamlike"

"Enchanting - beyond excellent. Wonderful staff and food; special thanks to George Ranjan and Luna. Only slight disappointment was that the mountains were obscured by mist for most of the time, unusually for November."

Dewakan: "Amazing"

"This restaurant is out of the centre of KL about 35 minutes without traffic an hour with. Don't let this put you off. The food is spectacular and from an international perspective reasonably priced. We had the 10 course degustation which with 3 pre entrees and an extra dessert worked out at 14 different and very interesting dishes for RM250(I think). The food while paying homage to Malaysia is very much modern cuisine. Every dish was unique."
