Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Fantastic place & staff"

"French word : ""Le meilleur endroit pour dormir SUR le lac, et le meilleur restaurant de la région"" We were originally staying 2 nights, but ended but cancelling a night in Nyaung Shwe to spend an additional one at Inle Heritage. This is hands-down the best hotel (& restaurant) I've experienced in Myanmar. It is not the most luxurious, but it's not the point here. The rooms are beautiful, decorated with taste, eco-friendly. Only 6 bungalows, perfectly maintained, making the place a haven of peace in the evening. It might get busy at lunch and in the afternoon as tourists come to eat and visit the place. They probably have the best restaurant in lake area, and they also have burmese cats, endemic fish aquariums, cooking classes, homegrown vegetables etc. Basically the place is also a foundation : eco-friendly hotel, burmese cat sanctuary, and a school training students for hotels and restaurants. A portion of everything you pay here (hotel, restaurant, not sure for the souvenir shop) will go to the foundation. Breakfast is fantastic : real bread, real croissants, no wonder why all the customers were French :). Restaurant is great as well and serves fine cuisine (Myanmar/Thai style, homemade recipes, and a couple western dishes). Had one of their specialties, some simple fried rice and a so-classic Chicken Sandwich, all 3 were just perfect. Their ""pancakes"" are more like French crepes rather than US pancakes, taste great ! Girlfriend got sick on first day here, and stayed in bed the whole day while I left to visit Indein. The whole staff took care of her, from the cleaning ladies to the Chef preparing a special meal, and the manager checking on her every couple hours. Staff has been fabulous. The souvenir shop is nice as well, they seem to have superior quality stuff and pretty much everything you'd need. Consider checking it as you might find better stuff than on Inle markets / temple shops. You may find more luxurious places on Inle, but you will end up in resorts. It will cost more, and there will be 30 or more bungalows which won't always be in good shape. Honestly, if you want to be ON LAKE, go straight for Inle Heritage, forget about the lake ""resorts"". It is true there is some noise because of the boats going around (can start early in the morning), but keep in mind this will happen anywhere as long as you're staying on the lake. Okay, maybe a swimming-pool would be cool, but that sounds kind of stupid when you're actually on a lake (would not recommend swimming in the lake though). Maybe if they can make some eco-friendly pool, idea for the future :) We were kind of sad to leave Inle Heritage, I'd honestly would have stayed there for a whole week. Kenanga Hotel: "Beautiful tranquil oasis in the rice fields"

"The Kenanga in Ubud is a perfect place to stay. We had a room overlooking the beautiful rice fields of the hotel. The gardens are very lovely and the infinity pool is awesome. Breakfast is served a la carte and is delicious (the fruit jam is very tasty...). To get to Ubud Centre there is a free shuttle every hour until 5pm. Afterwards you have to take a taxi for around 40000 Rupiah. An alternative (by daylight) is to walk through the lush rice fields and arrive in the city centre after 1 hour. Carine, the owner is extremely helpful and organized a small private trekking tour with a local guide for us to a remote waterfall. All in all we had a wonderful time in Kenanga and will be back for sure next time we are in Ubud."

Les Maisons d’Itac: "A small but fantastic resort!"

We spent a long weekend in the bamboo house at this small but beautiful resort. Great experience. You are sleeping 3 meters from the beach! You hear the waves and all kinds of sounds in the night, very relaxing. The atmosphere at the place is great. It is sort of at the end of the road, so there is no restaurants or things to do within walking distance. But the staff and the manager Bryan are very serviceminded and will help you with anything you want to do or go to. We recommend you to eat all meals at the resort and then there's no need to go anywhere else. Just stay at the resort and enjoy it. We would love to come back some day!

Misool Eco Resort: "Paradise"

"Was my first time diving and I do t think I could have chosen a better world location. The trip was worth the length to go to a location where you can switch off from the world. If you want relaxation or adventure it has it all! Just happens to be in one of the most amazing locations in the world. GET THERE!"

The Island Lodge: "“Thank you Michel"

"Really enjoyed our two night stay with Michel and Francoise. This place is exactly what it says on the packet - a quiet retreat outside HCM. We tried the spa (massage) and the morning bike ride with Michel. Really enjoyed both. If l had one wish it would have been for a couple of stable classics on the menu - maybe a burger and a pasta. But the food was great so no issues there :) FYI. Car transfers took 2 hours from the city."

Sandat Glamping Tents: "No words"

"So, so nice!!!!It is different from all resorts you use to know. Beautiful tent, calm place and very nice people. The manager (italien), also friendly and kind. It's a litlle bit far from the town but they have transport, you´re there in 20 minutes. NO TV!!!!! I Must return one day"

NOEL RODRIGO’S LEOPARD SAFARIS: "Grrrreat"

"Went with our friends who had been three years ago and they couldn't get over how much the camp had improved. We were there for two nights and everything worked like clockwork. There is a learning curve relating to keeping the tent free of mozzies but that seemed to largely work. There is an outside flush toilet for each tent together with a separate shower room. You will need to let the staff know if you want a warm or cold shower and they will fill the container appropriately! Worked OK. The vehicles take 6 people together with driver and ranger and there is a cold box with beers, soft drinks and water. When we arrived, we had lunch and then headed off to the relevant section of Yala NP. On our return, shower, change, drinks and dinner. Early morning call at 4:15am and there's time for tea or coffee plus biscuit or fruit before heading off for the morning safari and then have breakfast/lunch on the return. We really enjoyed the safari experience. Very efficient with each element having been carefully considered and the process operated seamlessly. Other than not seeing a leopard (my wife did although she had the benefit of binoculars and Saj had informed her where to aim them!) we all had a great experience. Saj took us to the reservoir in Zone 5 and we had some fun at the fish feeding frenzy with simple biscuits! Our other guide was Praneeth and he, like Saj, was very knowledgable and interesting. Saj is multi talented — not only relating to wildlife and nature but photography and astronomy! The night we were there was when Jupiter was close to earth and Saj set up his BIG telephoto lens on his camera and took a picture which showed the four moons! Something I hadn't expected! "

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "Best lodge in Pokhara… if not the whole of Nepal"

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge was by far the best place we stayed in our month long trip to Nepal. Marcus was a fantastic host, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay the best ever. The lodge itself is beautiful and the view will definitely make you want to outstay your visit!

Inle Princess Resort: "Outstanding"

"Another wonderful stay at Inle Princess Resort. The review is rather similar to previous ones, but we find everything at the resort just excellent, the chalets, restaurant, spa, bar, the newly redesigned gift shop, the swimming pool and again, above all, the people. Several staff members speak some basic German and Spanish and I encourage guests to give them a chance to practice their language skills. Rent a bicycle and explore the countryside, nearby villages, markets, or the Maing Thouk forest monastery, just ask at the front desk. The food, whether Burmese or Western, was always delicious. We simply followed the recommendations of the chef (Nwe Oo) or of one of her assistants (Mo Kham). The homemade Frangipani ice cream is among our favourite desserts. The special dinner on the ""honeymoon island"" just for us was an absolute highlight. Very impressive is the social responsibility of the resort owner family, supporting the local population in many ways, e.g., most recently, construction of a new high school nearby (""Bamboo School"") is under way."

Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Paradise!"

"We stayed here for Christmas 2017, it was our fourth visit and everything about Golden Buddha is perfect. The staff are amazing, very professional, always friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Valerie the owner has time for everyone, Massi and Theresa manage the resort to perfection and Guy at the pizza bar on the beach is fantastic, he should never be allowed to leave!!! This resort is truly unspoilt Thailand, not the place if you want nightlife but if you are looking for relaxation and to completely chill out this is THE place to go. You will not be disappointed, it exceeds all expectations. All of the houses are individual, we were a party of six so Bann Mangorn was perfect for us, three bedrooms, three bathrooms a wonderful balcony with sea views to relax on. All the banns are extremely clean, mosquito nets are over all the beds and all have outside areas to sit and relax, some with hammocks. The food menu changes everyday always with an excellent choice. Christmas Eve celebrations started with cocktails on the beach beside a huge bonfire, there was a wonderful buffet with so many choices, Entertainment followed by local school children and staff, then down onto the beach to light lanterns and watch them float across the bay. A truly magical evening. The beaches are pristine clean, the front beach is shallow and perfect for children, the other beach gently slopes and is great for swimming. The only downside to this beautiful island is that all to soon it is time to leave. If you are fortunate enough to visit this island you will not be disappointed. Golden Buddha Beach Resort really is a little bit of paradise."
