Mathis Retreat: "A lush oasis"
"Loved my stay at Mathis Retreat. A little bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Ubud town centre, it was the perfect place to relax after days spent travelling and exploring. From the leisurely breakfasts over looking the verdant rice fields, to the spacious room (Garden Bungalow) and of course the friendly staff, it ticked all the boxes. The room itself was airy and spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom reasonably large. Only complaint was the positioning of the power points, which meant devices could be charged or used, but not both at the same time. It would be helpful to have accessible power points near the bedside tables. The breakfast food options were plentiful, and I appreciated the fresh fruit juices and homemade jams. Recommend the pineapple pancakes, if you choose the Western breakfast option, but even better was the vegetarian nasi goreng. The vegetarian dinner options were a bit limited which was a bit disappointing. The staff were really lovely and it was nice to be welcomed by the owner, made the experience a little more personal than the usual hotel stay. The wifi connection was good and the free shuttle service was easy to use, making short work of the trip to and from the town centre. It may be a bit pricier than some of the hotels closer to the town centre, but it was definitely worth! Would definitely stay here again if ever in Ubud."Maduzi Hotel: "They go the extra mile"
"We LOVED our stay here! They truly go the extra mile and we were so impressed! Every little detail of your stay has been clearly thought through and they've considered how to make it better, e.g. you can check in and out at any time!! and you can have your welcome drink at any time! Additionally the Maduzi is in the perfect location, close to the BTS, in the safe Sukhumvit area. This place has everything you need from a hotel, and so much more!"muang la: "So glad we chose to stay here"
"When we were looking for a place to get away from the standard visitor locations in South east Asia, this resort was proposed as an option. One of the best decisions we made on the holiday. It takes some effort to get there but it really is worth it. It is such a tranquil location, by the river with great settings for meals, the pool on the island. The rooms are excellent and the service from the staff first rate. They truly aim to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Language is a barrier at times but we were more than ok with this as given it's location this type of resort must, as it does, put a lot back to the community. The food was of a high standard and the 5 course tasting menu for dinner really suited us. High quality food and allowing you to try dishes we wouldn't normally try. What probably added the extra touch for us though were the day trip options provided. If you enjoy walking and want to see how village life in this part of Laos is, then this is perfect. With a local guide we learned so much about the culture and were able to very naturally engage with people in the villages. Relaxing in the resort after each day made for a great balance. Muang La was a real highlight of our holiday. I thoroughly recommend it. "Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Heaven on earth"
"We were two rather tired middle aged parents with two of our daughters (aged 18). Sea Dance could have been set up with just us in mind. One daughter is working out in Thailand and we came over with one of her sisters for three weeks. One of them was spent at Sea Dance and I was not joking when I told Faith that when the others left I would be hiding in the wardrobe and planned to stay forever. We booked into a double chalet. So we had two interconnecting double rooms each with gorgeous bathroom and our own private pool. Do not underestimate the bliss of a private pool. We are not talking an olympic monstrosity, even I only managed two strokes from one end to the other. On the other hand, at the end of the day we bobbed around in the pool in the warm evening sun with a G&T and the evils of work responsibilities etc melted away. We spent an afternoon with Doi (my apologies if my spelling is off) learning how to cook green curry, seafood salad and chicken and ginger stir fry. I don't care how experienced you are in the kitchen, this is worth doing. I have been cooking since I was about six, my mother is an expert in historical cooking with a library to match, there is little in the kitchen that surprises or scares me yet even I learned subtle and interesting tips. Back home a week or so I cooked Tom yum. Once I would have needed a recipe - Doi gave me the confidence to create it on my own and my super critical Tom Yum husband loved it! I also had a massage in the spa. This is not your run of the mill five star spa. This is an authentic, no English spoken, work out between you and your masseuse, spa. It was bliss. I had a several massages in thailand from the ""Oh heck put the stick away please"" foot massage in JJ market in Bangkok, to the ""oh please don't wake me up"" and ""I wasn't snoring"" massages in Chiang Mai. A bonus was that I bumped into Doi in her herb garden on my way back to our chalet. Doi gave me a guided tour around her garden, explained what she grew for the kitchen and what she grew for the spa. For an old fashioned gardener like me that was the most wonderful way to end the massage from heaven. there are any number of luxury hotels and resorts on Ko Samui. If you are looking for a personal touch, for a spot of luxury without bankruptcy and any number of wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly staff (Faith is worth twice her weight in gold at the very least) then come to Sea Dance. Or better still ...don't ...so that there will be room for us when we return. Stayed March 2017, traveled with family"David’s Kitchen: "Fantastic experience"
The food, ambience and service are exceptional. The restaurant seems to be single handedly elevating the fine dining scene in Chiang Mai (one would expect a restaurant of this caliber in Bangkok or Hong Kong rather than Chiang Mai). Impressive to see David overseeing the entire operation and one can truly tell this is his passion project.Amata Lanna: "an oasis in the rush of Changmai"
If you believe that small is beautiful then you will love this niche hotel. Just twelve large rooms based on the old Northern Lana style - that is teak buildings and platforms around a central pool. The staff are charming and attentive. A place to chill and relax after a busy dayVilla Song Saigon: "Charming Boutique Hotel"
We loved this place. It's a stunning villa with a gorgeous pool which is open late into the evening. The highlight for us was the breakfast which can be taken any time of day - who knew beef pho and French toast go so well together?! The area is a bit sterile (lots of international schools and expat compounds) but we just wanted to chill by the pool so this was a perfect end to our short stay in Vietnam. Particularly grateful for accommodating our request for a late checkout. Nice little gym too. Would love to return.Cuca: "WOW"
"Place Located in Jimbaran. A very secluded area as most of the driver is not familiar of the small road. Ambiance Perfect! They have 3 types of seating area: Dining Room, Bar and Garden. If you want to see the art creation of your food, i suggest you seat at the Bar area as that's where you can see what Chef does! Like 'live show'. Garden seating has a good ambiance but we didn't seat outside because of mosquito (that's just me). Dining room has a semi private arrangement as each table has curtains in between other tables which is a great idea! It has a very homey-cozy feeling! Service They have more than enough staff to assist you. They serve with smile and very warmth. You can feel that they are proud of their work and that they enjoy it! Food Here comes the bomb! We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu and it's soooo worth it! The creativity and intricate workmanship is WOW! From presentation to food taste is just the best! My fave was the number 3, Fish! (It's in the photo - looks like a flower). The food that excites me the most was the dessert called Bali Breakfast (in photo- looks like egg)! It's something you MUST order! The coconut and mango flavor with the crusty (granola i think) is perfectly combined into an amazing dessert! This place has thought of everything from the start to the end of your dining experience. They'll give you something to start of to enhance your palette and a drink at the end for digestion...just WOW! It's one side of Bali you've never experienced before and it's really worth every $$$ and time. Definitely highly recommended to visit and try when in Bali. Not recommended for family with kids. I'll be back to try the other dish on my next Bali Trip!"Mie Cafe: "Do not miss this restaurant"
We went here on our first night straight after arriving in Cambodia. We stayed at Le Meridien which is only a 5 min walk. The food was great. Of course had to try the fish Amok - best fish amok I had in Cambodia. All the food is prepared by the kitchen staff with utmost precision which you will notice back in the taste. Half open kitchen and very pleasant staff. The chef came and visit all the tables personally to check if all was good. This restaurant has impressed me - must go to even if you stay a bit further away.Maison Polanka: "Tropical paradise with outstanding service"
We stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary and had one of the most amazing few days of our lives. From the personalised greeting at the airport , our anniversary flowers, the welcome drink with lemongrass as a straw and the beautiful decoration throughout the property, it is such a special place. I haven't felt so spoilt since I was a child at my grandmother's house. We slept late one afternoon after an early start at the temples, so candles were light so I could take a late swim, fresh baked cakes are delivered to your sun bed as you swim and you are always greeted with a smile. Best hotel I have ever stayed in and I shall return.
