MesaStila: "Amazing MesaStila"

Just spent an amazing weekend here for our wedding anniversary. Lovely and peaceful, with views of Mt Merapi, in the middle of a coffee plantation. Beautiful Dutch colonial buildings and traditional Indonesian houses, fantastic food and wonderful staff. Tour of the coffee plantation was fascinating. Only 1 hr drive from Semarang airport (or 2 hrs from Yogya), so great for a weekend away from Jakarta!

Sea Dance Resort: "Amazing and personalized service, and beautiful resort! Home away from home."

"From the start to the end, they helped us devise up a great schedule for the days we were present. We were visiting with young children and elderly parents. We had already done our research on the things we wanted to see but they suggested even more and put it altogether to make our stay unforgettable. Service: This is not one of the huge hotels where you get robotic service. All the staff know you, remember your names and what you like! A special Thanks to Faith for organizing and following up with all our needs and wants during our stay. It was wonderful to meet the kind and talented (guitar player) Poy who made our stay heavenly. Location: the hotel is located in a quiet area of the town and not on the busy streets. You can get to busy streets from where they are located though on foot or by using one of the pick up taxis'. Rooms: we loved the rustic feel of the rooms and the fact that we had our own small pool where the kids could swim and play whenever they wanted. The rooms were clean and spacious. They provide bathrobes and flip flops to walk around and welcome food. Water is provided everyday. They also provide a kind of electric zapper looking like a tennis racket (which we had never seen before) and this soon became my husband's new pass time... Amenities: we went snorkeling with the kids and although it can be hard at first to wade into the water with the rocks, they provide the perfect refuge to admire all the colorful fish in their habitat. The hotel has a couple of kayaks and provided life jackets and even crocs. Food: DELICIOUS! Definitely recommend the Thai cooking class. Not only was it so instructive for my kids and fun, but the result was absolutely delicious. The cooks/chefs were the sweetest with my children and we were able to adapt the spices to our liking. We discovered new fruits and the kids loved chopping the fruit and mixing it all in! The highlight of my trip! All in all: Definitely recommend if you want a quiet trip with elderly family or young children as they cater for all. You can get the excitement needed with all the activities onsite or in town which they organize. Tip on Koh Samui: On a Friday night visit the Fisherman's market. When doing activities around Koh Samui, I suggest to put on insect repellent as we did get bitten quite a bit and we had put on repellent and wore long pants! Not in the hotel but when we were out doing excursions whether it be at the fish market, the elephant safari...etc."

Tugu Bali: "Awesome place with shakey wifi"

"Had a great time here in may. The location is great for people lookibg for either surf, staying in hipster canggu or golf (close to the nirwana golf course). The hotel has an awesome location right on the beach. Before the beach there is a beautiful lawn where you can relax and watch the sea or have something to eat. The beach is good for beginner surfing as well as more intermediate. Not ideal for swimming because of the waves. But great for diving into the waves. The hotel itself has great balinese character. All the common areas but also the rooms. You are really in Bali. The food is awesome and the great thing is you can eat it on the lawn watching the sunset. The rooms are big with some sort of outside area where there is also big bath. Only drawbacks are the quality of the internet, it didn't really affect my stay as I was there only for a couple or nights, and the airconditiong. The airconditiong are basically two remotes for two aircos, where you have to mix and match to get the right temperature in the room. So kt's not climate control where you set to a temperature and it's done. But those things are outweighed easily by all the other things mentioned. Would come back anytime! "

Tugu Bali: "Luxury By The Beach In The Heart of Canggu"

"The history of Hotel Tugu is a great story! Some time ago a poor student took a trip with a professor to Canggu and at sunset met with a stranger who gave the professor a Cupu Manik, a 16th century stone bowl of three parts from which was used by a priest to sprinkle holy healing water over sick villagers. The Cupu Manik was of priceless cultural value and inspired the students deep and lasting love of Indonesian antiquities and history. Several years later, the poor student had become a professional antiquarian and continued to search for the Cupu Manik to own for himself. Eventually he found the precious artefact which is now housed at Hotel Tugu. The student is the founder of Tugu Hotels, Exotic Spas and Restaurants, and these hotels now house his large collection of Indonesian art and antiques. A trip to Hotel Tugu is truly a step back in time! THE ROOMS There are 22 rooms, 19 of which are suites, 2 one bedroom villas and 1 two bedroom villas. The suites are large, with a living area, bedroom, separate shower room and the best bit, the bathtub which has a huge room all for itself looking out to the gardens and the ocean! If you treating yourself or this is a special occasion you may want to opt for the luxurious Puri Le Mayeur villa, a spacious single story villa overlooking the stunning lotus pond. The villa celebrates the eternal love between the famous Belgian artist, Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur de Merprès and Ni Polok, his muse and his wife. The second incredible villa option is the Walter Spies Pavilion, designed with the art deco era of Java in the early 20thcentury in mind. This room is dedicated to German poet and artist Walter Spies, an influential German musician and painter who made Indonesia his home. SPA TREATMENTS I was treated to a 'Purnama & Tilem Massage' Energy of the Bali Moon, during my stay at Tugu and I can honestly (yes, really) say this was the best massage I have ever had. Not just because of the massage itself, but at Tugu they take the care to the make the treatments a unique experience. My therapist, Widia, greeted me and explained that before the massage we would walk down to the beach where we would wash our feet and place an offering for the gods. At the end of the massage we would do place a second offering at the hotels temple. Its hard to explain why, but there was something extremely relaxing, just going through these spiritual rituals that you almost don't even need the treatment! But of course, I had it! The massage itself is essentially a traditional Balinese massage that lasts for over an hour and is in the outdoor spa area, so you can drift off whilst listening to the sounds of the ocean. FOOD & DRINK Breakfast and Afternoon Tea is included in your stay at the hotel. For Breakfast you can take this in your room, outside in the courtyards by the pool or in the open plan dining area. There are several delicious breakfast options to choose from, each coming with fresh fruit juices and fresh fruits. In the afternoon, between 4 and 6pm, you can enjoy a delicious afternoon tea with an array of delicious cakes and treats. Make sure you get back from any surfing or sightseeing during the day in time to enjoy this! And for the evening you can dine at the hotels stunning restaurant, and enjoy cocktails upstairs at the bar overlooking the streets of Canggu. Sanak Retreat Bali: "Heaven!"

We visited as a family and had a wonderful time. The villas are super comfy as is the bedding! Food amazing...good wine list...wonderful staff...divine setting...what more could one ask for?Would most def visit again!

Chakrabongse Villas: "Stay in a prince’s palace"

This was built in the 19th century by a Thai prince. It's on a busy street and right next to the river. Once you get behind the gates, it's your own private palace. Pool, garden, decks overlooking the river. I think there are only about 9 rooms. It's pricey, but worth it. Our dinner was about a 7-course meal (prix-fixe), each one a delicacy. Took off my shoes at the gate and wandered around the rooms and gardens for all three days we were there.

Tugu Lombok: "Full of character and charm"

"What a unique and characterful hotel! The architecture and decor is completely authentic and brimming with stunning antiques and artefacts. The whole experience was so wonderfully relaxing - from the warm welcome and complimentary massage to the fresh seafood dinner on the beach! The sea was so calm - perfect to try out paddle boarding and kayaking. There was nothing to fault... friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, amazingly comfortable bed, stunning outdoor bath and private pool, spacious grounds and a beautiful white sandy beach for long walks. I would not hesitate to recommend The Tugu Lombok to anyone who is tired of large and impersonal hotels."

Samanea Beach Resort: "Secret idyllic Resort"

"We stayed only for 2 nights.i liked the colonial minimal decoration of the spacious room with it' s adorable outside shower.The stuff were all ready to serve you ,helpful and smily. I loved the Hawaiian pool,and the pier which drives you to the ocean. The cleanliness would be better.The towels wasn't very clean but overall the feeling was good. The breakfast is poor.You have only two choices of the menu,like an omelet and fruits. The resort is a little far of the town ,but with a tuk tuk is easy to go. I recommend this place."

Cabochon: "Excellent + cozy"

Well-appointed, comfortable and quiet. Probably the best hotel we stayed in during our month in Asia. A wonderful little hideaway amidst the madness of Bangkok's 10 million noise-makers. Don't sleep on the restaurant, either. It's quiet but truly exceptional.
