Satri House: "Lovely, serene place to unwind!"
"Beautiful, serene hotel. The detailed decoration in all the hallways and rooms is amazing. The staff was always extremely friendly, ready to help with anything and made the stay very memorable. The hotel is not located in the middle of the busy area which is actually a nice change. The included breakfast is great and definitely a full meal (choice of local and western). This is really just a minor thing but the restaurant and room service hours could be a little bit better. Dinner ends quite early for what we are used to and walking back to town for a bite to eat is a bit far (and dark). The hotel is located quite a bit outside the busy streets where more touristy restaurants are open until late."Jing’s Residence: "Magical"
Beautiful hotel. Great food and service and amenities with the exception that there is no television and internet is slow. Property was impeccably restored and the staff is very helpful and courteous.Muang La Lodge: "Comfort in Northern Laos"
"This was our second trip to Laos and we decided to go further afield to the northern part of the country to trek and explore the region. The Muang La resort was a very welcome refuge in an area that has really not seen considerable investment in tourism infrastructure. The resort is all inclusive and does a very good job looking after its guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and offer up nice views of the river and mountains. Our three days of trekking were organized by the hotel. Each day was a discovery, and while strenuous, our hiking took us up mountains to remote villages inhabited by Khmu and Hmong. We also visited jungle waterfalls, local markets, temples and rice fields. Our guide was terrific and he gave us access to places I'm sure we would not have been able to discover. After a challenging day of hiking, it was great to get back to the hotel, soak in one of the hot tubs fed by a natural spring, have a swim in the pool, accessed by a bridge suspended across the river, and play with the adorable baby monkey adopted by the hotel staff. The food at the hotel was very good - with diverse choices available, including both Laotian and foreign food. The hotel provided us with packed lunches for our treks, typically a rice or noodle preparation wrapped in banana leaf, accompanied by local fruits. There are nice walks to do right from the hotel -- crossing the river in the nearby town and wandering into the local villages on the opposite bank is interesting, and the return to the hotel side can be done on a river raft built from bamboo by one of the local farmers. The hotel plays an important role in the local community, providing employment and management and language training to the local population. All staff, apart from the hotel director, are Laotian. I'd highly recommend this property for a visit to this part of Laos. It's well worth the 5 to 6 hour drive from Luang Prabang, through breathtaking scenery, especially on the stretch from Pak Ou. Heading back to Luang Prabang, we took a river boat for part of the journey, again arranged by the hotel. Pack good walking shoes, an adventurous spirit, and a curious mind and you will love the Muang La resort and all it has to offer."Locavore: "Outstanding"
"We chose to have the 5 course degustation menu with accompanying cocktails for each course. While we may have had some reservation about having cocktails instead of matching wine, they were a revelation! While we were waiting for our meal to begin we were stunned to be served with SEVEN 'amuse bouche' dishes prior to this. All were outstanding and each was described to us in detail by a member of the staff - sometimes a waitress but often one of the cooks - including the head chef. In a similar vein - the 1 dessert course actually ended up being a 'pre-dessert', main dessert, and then about 3 'post desserts'. All the dishes were of a very high standard with interesting combinations and flavours. The open kitchen allows you to observe the staff preparing the food - all in a seemingly tranquil manner. Service was outstanding and we waddled out after almost 3 hours, overwhelmed by the experience. Even though it is reasonably pricey compared to other restaurants in Bali (~US$150pp including drinks), it is well worth it."Kenanga Hotel: "Great stay !!!"
"We spent four nights at Ubud in Kenanga Hotel during our August visit to Bali & Lombok. This has been our preferred location of our full holiday. Ubud is brilliant and Kenanga absolutely perfect. Once you are in the hotel you are out of the Ubud chaos and you can really relax. Wonderful view and extreme kindness the two top factors. My son (5 years old) enjoyed so much beeing free and look at ducks or walk on the small tracks through the rice fields. Karine, the hotel manager, has been very helpful with a lot of suggestions on how to use at the best our available days. We also tried a cooking lesson organized in the hotel just for us and we really enjoyed it too. The hotel restaurant is very good also for the demanding Italian tastes. Go there !!!"Muang La Lodge: "Dream Boutique Hotel in Great Location"
"The trip to this resort from Luang Prabang is defintely worth doing. The rooms are fantastic with great views and a fantastic pool. The service is 5 star and charming and Rui the General Manager was really friendly and could not do enough to make our stay memorable. The food each night was fantasic and we loved the tasting menu approach -breakfasts were also great. Our best day was the visit to 3 hill tribes in the mountains, with a brilliant local guide. We brought balloons for the kids who were really pleased, had a picnic at a local school and even visited the local Shamens hut. In the last village there wasno photography as the villagers still believe it ""steals your soul""! When we came back to the hotel, we walked across the bridge and took a punt back across the river, visited the local monastry where we got a blessing from a local monk and had a beer at a small hut hanging over the river. Local village and market are also a short walk from the hotel. All in all this place was faultless and a trip here twinned with Luang Prabang is a superb holiday (althiygh Luang Prabang will feel touristy after here). Hope to get back sonn Rui and thanks for making sure we had such a great time. Richard "The Island Lodge: "Lovely and quiet stay on a poetic island in the Mekong"
"The island Lodge is a secret hidden in the heart of the Mekong Delta on the Unicorn Island near My Tho... The hotel is facing the river , accessible by boat for day trips around from a pier right in front. Very quiet, it's a place to relax, bike around the island, enjoy the spa and the food, walk in the garden or the many fruit plantations around. An escape from a city... without being far away..."Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Only one word: OUTSTANDING! A 5-star experience in Myanmar"
"After our trekking trip from Kalaw to Inle, we desperately needed some comfort, nice food and a good night sleep....and we couldn't have asked for more during our stay at Inle Heritage! This was - by far - the best hotel we have stayed in during our 2-week trip in Myanmar. The rooms are spacious and furnished with great taste and top standards, the view on the lake is stunning. There are only 6 rooms in the complex and the staff is extremely lovely and super-attentive. Importantly...the food is absolutely STUNNING: we had 2 dinners and breakfasts during our stay and everything we ordered was outstanding - I don't think you can find a restaurant with such high quality anywhere else in the country. Vegetables are taken directly from several lovely gardens cultivated by the staff and you can really feel the freshness of every ingredient. There are several other ""luxury"" accommodations on the lake, but none of them offers such a high level of hospitality and food - combined. We would choose Inle Heritage again and again!!! Yes, while in the room, you can hear the noise of boats passing by, but this didn't disturb us at all and the noise significantly decreases after 8-9pm in the evening. The hotel also offers complementary ear plugs so we could sleep like babies during both our nights. Last but not least, Inle Heritage is a non-profit organisation that looks after the cultural and natural heritage of the Inle Region, aiming at developing tourism while maintaining the original Burmese culture and way of life, and respecting nature. Given how quickly the lake is developing (with both pros and cons...) we were very happy to stay in a place that is run in a sustainable way and under these grate values. Don't miss it!!! Stayed December 2016, traveled as a couple"Cuca: "A must do for the foodies"
My wife and I had the chance to have a reservation at the chef's table and it was an amazing experience!!! The food is outstanding! You can see and taste all the attention in the details of every plate. The chef took a lot of time to discuss with us about his recipes and you can right away sed that he is really passionated about what he does... And it reflects on the food! A must go in Jimbaran!Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "Wonderful stay!"
It's as though we walked on the the set of "Out of Africa" with all the period pieces. Great location, staff, room was neat, clean and spacious. It's off the beaten track but then again most of the great places are.
