Satri House: "Ooh, this Indochine feeling"
"Wanna feel like a character in an Indochine film-noir? Stay at the Satri House in Luang Prabang and you will likely grow into it! Or just stay there because the place is more than perfect. Very atmospheric rooms: nothing beats this early morning light coming into the room through these shutter doors. Dwell around those steps and shady arcades and gaze at all these decorating items - where did they get all those beautiful things from? Two swimming pools, very friendly, professional and helpful staff, beautiful garden, great restaurant - what else do you need? LP is on walking distance, but you can take a hotel bike too."Slow Villas and Spa: "A little piece of heaven on earth"
"Slow Villas is simply stunning! We stayed here for 4 nights and had an amazing experience. The rooms are spacious and equipped with all we needed, the bed is super comfortable (we loved the blanket!) and the kitchenette a nice little extra. We also enjoyed, that the water in the open-air bathroom is not only hot - it is also absolutely not salty (rare on the Gili islands). The staff is nice, the breakfast choice stunning and the private pool and garden are true gems. We loved it - we will be back! Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Rak Ko Jae Seoul: "Nice experience"
If you want a "local living" experience, this hanok is really nice. You sleep on a mattress on the floor, traditional style. They serve a traditional Korean-style dinner every evening, as well as breakfast every morning. The only downsides: there is really no classic staff like in a bigger hotel, only a caretaker who changes the sheets and cooks the food, and both of the women who were working there during my stay didn't speak a word of English, so if you are looking for recommendations or for someone to call you a taxi, it might be difficult.
Heritage Suites Hotel: "Breathtaking Wedding experience – highlight of our whole trip!"
"We stayed here between 17/12/17 - 21/12/17 as a party of seven and had the pleasure of having our wedding day planned and hosted by the brilliant staff at Heritage Suites Hotel. Oma, Nicolas, Teka and each and every member of staff, we can’t thank you enough for the hours of work, meticulous attention to detail, beautiful venue and exceptional level of service we had during our stay. You made our wedding the most memorable, intimate and spectacular day we’ve ever experienced, and it’s something neither we or our guests will ever forget. We won’t bore you with the long story, but basically, we decided to cancel our ‘home wedding’ and elope to the country that we got engaged in two years earlier (best decision ever!). As you would expect, we were quite nervous organising our entire wedding experience via email and Skype, having not seen seen the venue in person. We went back and forth with the team, sharing information and pictures until both sides were confident that we would get the wedding that we wanted. Throughout the entire process, Oma, Nicolas and Teka couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful, answering all of our questions (sorry guys!) until we fully understood each element of our wedding and stay. If you are reading this and thinking of having a wedding ceremony in Cambodia, PLEASE, you should seriously consider using Heritage Suites Hotel as your venue of choice - you won’t regret it. Highlights include: - The quick transformation of the hotel ‘alley’ / atrium into a beautiful walkway & altar was nothing short of astonishing. The whole place had beautiful white decor, flowers (lotus & rose), with an amazingly decorated platform at the end where the ceremony was held. - The organisation of external services was exactly what we wanted. Makeup & hair was great, the photographer / videographer (Oyen Rodriguez & his team - check his stuff out on YouTube!) was phenomenal, amazing buttonholes & bouquets, an extremely charming and well spoken registrar called Mourad (who looks like Hugh Laurie!) to lead the ceremony. - We had the flexibility of tailoring our own ceremony including our own vows, readings and words in a ‘Western style’ and incorporating a Buddhist blessing given by some local monks which we and our guests enjoyed thoroughly. - More food and drink than you could ever want! The men and women enjoyed a light breakfast separately, before canapés & drinks in the lobby after the ceremony , more canapés & champagne during sunset, and a beautifully cooked dinner on the evening. - We couldn’t decide between having tuk-tuks or jeeps… so we had both! Each type of transportation were dressed up for the occasion including flowers, ribbons, signage (our initials) and tassels. - Our transportation took us out to ricefields and other scenic locations for photographs before arriving at a pier on a beautifully still lake (Trav Kot) for sunset canapés and champagne. - Our final destination was the real show stopper. Teka from Heritage Adventures (sister company of Heritage Suites Hotel) worked with us to organise a luxury camping experience and dinner by a remote temple called Banteay Ampil. Our jeeps pulled up and we were greeted by smiling staff who provided us with necklaces and bracelets made from the Jasmine flower. Venturing further into the campsite, we were surrounded by thousands of tealights, relaxing and having welcome cocktails in a ‘chill out’ area (think lots of cushions, throws, low sitting sofas, fire pits). The luxury tents were incredible - better than our house back home! We could go on for hours as the team organised so much more (on this day, and the rest of our time with them). We seriously couldn’t fault anything - each element was provided with 100% effort and the full team delivered everything with a smile. It felt as though they were genuinely happy for us, and enjoyed being part of our wedding experience. No text, pictures or videos could do the whole experience justice, and we feel quite smug that only the seven of us will ever know what it truly felt like during these special couple of days. Aside from our experience from a wedding perspective, the hotel and level of service as a guest was fantastic. The rooms were immaculate, tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant food during breakfast, lunch and dinner was plentiful, tasty and well-priced. We were never left wanting, with staff always on hand to make sure we had everything we needed. If anybody would like to speak to us further, feel free to contact Heritage Suites Hotel and ask for Jonathan & Katherine Birch’s contact information) - we’d be more than happy to help! Thanks, Mr & Mrs Birch"Arumdalu: "The best Belitung can offer"
On our first trip to Belitung, we stayed 2 nights in a hotel in the city before moving down to Arumdalu Private Resorts. We planned it in such a way that our trip ended in Arumdalu, hoping for a perfect finish to our long holiday. We were not disappointed. After an hour drive from the town centre, we arrived at the lush grounds of Arumdalu. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our villa was beautiful; spacious, very clean and well provisioned with useful amenities. There is a private pool (with warm and very clean water - non chlorinated!) to every villa. The food in Sahang Restaurant was delicious. The menu offered limited selection of fusion food, yet all of them were amazing. We took turn to try all the different items on it, and love every single dish. The view from the restaurant which opened towards the beach was simply beautiful. The best part of Arumdalu must be the private beach. It was truly private as the property was surrounded by virgin and lush plantation. The pure white sands, enormous boulders backdrop and clear blue sky made Arumdalu the ultimate relaxation spot. Some of the activities offered include: batiking (there is a resident batik craftsman), canoeing, walks and hikes to the windmill and big boulders scattered along the beach. A note about the batiking: children can also try the process and be as creative as they can, while adults can even order customised batik at very reasonable prices. The price of the villa was, admittedly, quite expensive. However, it includes pick up and transfer to the airport (which can be considerably pricey in Belitung), generous breakfast portion (we had 4 portions for us and the kids everyday) and amazing experience in Belitung. Arumdalu is definitely non-mainstream and only for the discerning travellers. Highly recommended and hoping we could one day return!Villa Song Saigon: "The best boutique hotel in Ho Chi Min"
if you're interested in walking out your door in to the action & like cookie cutter oder hotels then this is not for you... but if you appreciate quiet, elegant designed properties right on the river then this is the place! Great accommodating staff makes it my go to place whenever I travel to Ho Chi Min City! Hands down the best hotel there & I've styes in all the other so called best ones.Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "A wonderful time"
"My wife and I had the most wonderful stay at the Blue Mansion over Christmas and wanted to pass on our thank you for the hospitality we experienced throughout our stay. Our time at the mansion was that beginning of our honeymoon and we were greeted with flowers on the bed in the shape of a heart. The room was an excellent balance between heritage and modern comfort, and each time we returned to our room after exploring George Town it was an absolute joy to return as we made our way through the beautiful building to our room. The staff were amazing and genuinely happy in their work, and we looked forward to the wonderful breakfast each morning in the courtyard. For me, these breakfasts were very relaxing, the food amazing, the staff friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere just perfect. As we were spending Christmas away from home, it was lovely to receive a small gift on Christmas day. It is these little things which really stand out and remain in the memories of a stay. The cherry on top was being told we could open the back door of our room (which we were unaware existed) and be the first to use the new pool area which had been finished that very afternoon. Again, this is something we will never forget. As my wife and I sit now at a resort in Langkawai, we find ourselves thinking back to our stay and actually miss being back in George Town at the mansion. You have very special accommodation offering which we would recommend to anyone and would love to come and stay again in the future. Stayed December 2016, traveled as a couple"Satri House: "High-end colonial feeling!"
Colonial feeling like in a private Villa. The lovingly furnished interior, the pool, the complete architecture is marvellous, just like the home made-jam,, the Croissants and the Baguette at breakfast.Rachamankha: "Truly Wonderful"
"My daughters and I were traveling through Northern Thailand without much of a plan. We ended up at this amazing hotel because of the recommendation from a very reliable source. David from DK Davids kitchen who has one of the best (if not the best) restaurant in Chiang Mai. I also plan to review his Restuarant..... The hotel is beautiful. The grounds amazing for being in the center and they are maintained to perfection. Service is not invasive which I prefer. The food at the restaurant was some of the best dishes we had in Thailand. We are vegetarians and they had two pages of food possibilities. To top it all was the attention to detail! It is apparent throughout the hotel. You can feel that this hotel is owned by a very passionate person who knows and wants to please people. If we were to come back to Chiang Mai I would definitely stay here! And I never repeat..... Stayed March 2017, traveled with family"
