Villa Mathis: "Quite fantastically wonderful!"
I would heartily urge everybody to plan to have at least one stay in their lifetime at Villa Mathis - and to prepare yourself for many return visits as once will never be enough! From the first day of our six nights' stay, we felt as if we'd walked into a kind of personal Eden. The grounds were full of arbours housing day beds, with all kinds of private relaxation areas nestling amongst the bird-filled trees, vividly coloured flowers and exotic vegetation. Chris and his team were wonderful: they were there when you needed them, discreet when not required and incredibly helpful, smiling and friendly all of the time. We took advantage of the "romantic night" offer and were given a pampering via massage and petal filled bath prior to a wonderful private meal served in fairytale candlelit surroundings. Even though the 18 bedded premises were apparently fully occupied during our stay, we could never have guessed - such is the design of the whole area. Our personal villa was spacious, comfortable and had beautiful décor. If you are looking for tranquility and balm to the soul - this is the place for you as it is out in the countryside but only a very inexpensive 10-15 minutes' taxi ride away from Seminyak. I am sure there are still some glorious rooms and hideaway areas that we didn't manage to discover - so we shall just have to go again!Villa Song Saigon: "A Peaceful Retreat"
"Villa Song is a small boutique hotel with only about 12 rooms. The grounds and building itself are luxurious and full of style. Each room is quite different in terms of size and configuration, so it pays to be sure you know what you're booking. We asked if it was possible to move to another room shortly after check- in because there was only one small window in the room and the reception staff were very helpful in offering another room. The breakfast is menu style rather than buffet and is very good with plenty of options on offer. The food at bistro song where we had two evening meals was great. The shuttle boat service in to district 1 is very convenient and worth a return trip just for the river cruise. Thao Dien, District 2 is worth a look around with some obvious wealth on display in the neighbourhood homes. Not as many local eating options as district 1 but a lot of work going on in the area with plenty of new places opening all the time."Maison Polanka: "Very romantic place"
Such a pleasant vacation. We will surely be back on our next honeymoon or even on our anniversary. We will be leaving tonight and we will miss this place for sure. Staying here relaxed us. Made us regain our self esteem and confidence. Made us feel very special. We will surely be back.David’s Kitchen: "Best experience in Chiang Mai"
We went to DK to celebrate our honeymoon... since the beginning the staff was very nice, they set us up a table for "honeymooners" with roses and a special card signed by David and his wife. The food was excellent!!!! Every single plate we ate. David arrived to our table and was very kind and friendly to us, we even took a picture with him!! His wife is very nice too. We highly recommend David's KitchenMie Cafe: "Sophisticated dining"
This charming restaurant ticks all the boxes. Service is efficient, friendly and knowledgeable, the food is local but with a modern twist, and beautifully presented, and the setting is in a pretty garden. The tonle sap fish salad, and the frozen lime pie were particularly good.Nimmu House: "A memorable visit, I won’t forget"
"I came to Nimmu House in July 2015. I landed in Ladakh and went straight to the hotel. HOTEL MANAGEMENT: The caretakers/managers were two of the most wonderful people: a young Caucasian woman and her Indian husband. I came on the day of the festival so no one else was around. They welcomed me, got me food, drink and told me their story and about the hotel. They also took wonderful care of me, letting me how much I should eat, drink and sleep before my journey to Nubra Valley the next day. They also came by to check in on me, filling up my water so I could get the full 4ltrs. HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: I stayed in a tent, and I wholly recommend it. While some people in previous reviews complaint of hot water issues, I would say to them: calm down. This is in Northern Northern India, in a small village. Yes they will try and accommodate you with warm water, but you knew what you signed up for when you decided to gallivant to this side of the world. I got warm water for the most part, but took quick showers so not to use up too much water. I also showered at odd hours which is why I benefited. The actual tent is spacious. It has a huge bed that is utterly comfortable, a nice space for shower and little study area at the front. Couldn't have asked for anything more. In addition the courtyard is wonderful. I was journal-ling at the time and wrote a lot about sitting in the courtyard and hearing the thumping of apricots on the ground, the little brook that lined the courtyard, the hammocks, it really was magical during the day and evening. LOCATION: If you are looking to assimilate at a reasonable height, this is the place. It has clean air, fresh water, open spaces etc. Its a bit out from Leh but its probably best to leave the dusty loud city/town at arrival and head somewhere quieter. FOOD: I love their use of apricots in everything. While quite a bit of food -- felt like American portions -- it was very welcoming to get such a lovely meal when I arrived (even though they did not have me down for lunch) and prepared so fast. Dinner was wonderful, they sat me next to two people they thought I'd get along with and we did! We talked all night about our lives while sipping on local Chang beer and eating delicious food. I would say it was a bit standard in terms of type of food -- didn't really get local Ladakhi food -- but I was only there one day. OVERALL: Don't miss it. If you start your trip or end on it, this is the place to be. Room Tip: Get a tent, and spend some time in the courtyard on the hammocks See more room tips Stayed July 2016, traveled solo"Locavore: "What an unexpected surprise!"
"We got the recommendation from a friend of us and as we stayed for a view days we wanted to check it out ourselves for lunch. The Restaurant is pretty small (make your Reservation well in advance!) but tastefully decorated, with very friendly and attentive staff looking after us. For the Food you can either choose a vegetarian or conventional menu, which starts with a few Amuse Bouche, followed by the courses from the menu. The taste of the Food, the creativity and ingredients used for the dishes and the presentation of the meal was outstanding! We were so positively surprised by this meal and the Restaurant as a whole that we can't wait to be back. Many thanks"Mie Cafe: "Delicious food inspired by cambodians best ingredients"
"We dined here on the last day of our stay in Siem Reap and it was a perfect conclusion. The food was super tasty and delicious. We are real foodies and we were very lucky to have found this place. Also, the service and atmosphere of the place were super nice! If we ever go back to Siem Reap we will for sure return to this beautiful restaurant!"Nam Bo Boutique Hotel: "What a cute little 7-room boutique hotel!"
"Centrally located, facing the pier and walking distance to the old market, Nam Bo is not only cute but located in the heart of the live part of Can Tho. Ideal to stay before/after a cruise on a Bassac Boat . and Nice restaurant on the roof top with view on the river"Villa Song Saigon: "No. 1 Hotel … deservedly so"
We stayed at the Villa Song Hotel for our first night in Vietnam and for our last 3 nights and we have nothing but good things to say. All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the food is excellent (including the breakfast which is served all day), the hotel is in a perfect position by the river - so quiet and peaceful after visiting HCM. and the free boat shuttle service is a wonderful way to visit the city. The hotel deserves all the good reviews it receives and hopefully will be no.1 for many more years.
