Locavore: "Incredible food experience!"
We went to this restaurant for our wedding anniversary, and it was an incredibly good experience. Everything was perfect, starting with the really nice staff, the place itself and obviously the food. Talking about the latter, we saw people complaining about it, this place is intended to be a really slow food experience, with 7 or 5 main dishes and roughly 10 complementary other small snacks, all together it takes over 3 hours, not for everyone. But the composition of the dishes is simply awesome, recommended for the lover of the good food!FLOWER ISLAND: "Tropical Island Paradise"
"My wife and I sent several wonderful days at Flower Island Resort. We made the special trip to see the Jewelmer Golden Pearl Farm on our second day. There we were shown how the oysters are propagated and grown. The crew there showed us the process of grafting oysters(where the bead is inserted in to the gonad) as while as the harvesting of the lustrous Golden Pearls. Our room was very comfortable traditional native hut with modern conveniences such as air conditioning and hot running water. We really enjoyed the wide variety of meals especially the pearl meat salad. There is a trail to a tower at the top of the island that gives you a 360 degree view. Another path takes you all the way around the island in about 35 minutes. "Cuca: "Deserves 2 Michelin stars – Outstanding"
"We had a fantastic culinary experience at Cuca. The flavours, textures, aromas and presentation were an impressive mix. The staff were very atentative and their product knowledge was amazing. We sat at the bar watching the Chefs work which brought back memories for me. We liked how different people brought us our dishes - Chefs and our waitress, who explained what we were about to enjoy. As recommended we choose 6 tapas style dishes which was just enough for both of us to feel full and not left hungry. The choice is well balanced and it was difficult to choose which 6 dishes to enjoy, saying that we couldn't resist trying 2 of their desserts too!! We don't normally take dessert but on this occasion we really enjoyed the Bali breakfast and their ice cream dish with 98% coco mass organic chocolate ganash just made for them. Their brigade is headed up by an energetic Canadian Chef called Kevin Cherkas who I would pair with Heston Blumenthal using modern techniques to improve your culinary experience. "Amazing Boutique Hotel that sits along the peaceful Saigon River, beautiful colonial style rooms, amazing views, personal staff, great pool, and excellent restaurant. I never wanted to leave (no kidding). The staff were so good to me it felt like they were my family. I had another month of travel upon leaving and I knew no hotel would match this. I would say it was one of the top 2 best experiences in my 30 years of travel. I want to give credit to the amazing staff (top to bottom). The Director of Operations Ta Thanh Thuy was so helpful: from future travel/hotel tips to aid with some personal business of mine (all this while being wonderfully pleasant and thoughtful). Ms. Nhu, at the front desk was the anchor. She helped me with all needs: tours, food recommendations, travel tips, and taking care of a Fed Ex package that wouldn't have gotten to me if not for her hard work. Equaling as pleasant and helpful was my friend Ms. Tuyet. Kevin, the chef, gave me wonderful advice for touring the city, and dazzled me with his Michelin level food. And finally the charming and lovely Ms. Quy. I enjoyed her big smile every day and our nice conversations. The rest of the staff were equally great, but I don't have the time or space to write on it. After sailing around Samui the whole week we need to chill-out at a special location. The Sea Dance Resort allow residents to use the pool during our stay. My wife enjoyed a deep thai massage and my son and me had a healthy lunch and some drinks at the pool bar. "We were only there for one night, but it's a spectacular location - 12 nicely designed bungalows in a green park where you can't see or hear your neighbors. There were two Khmer families shooting their wedding albums - which gives you some idea of how nice it was - and with a 25 mètre pool you don't need to do into the sea - but there is a 59 mètre or so pier which takes you over the initial mud and far enough out that the sea is easy to swim in Food was excellent - although slightly bizarrely they had no fish or crabs. I've traveled through Siem Reap visiting Angkor Wat a few times now and know that even if you don't spend a lot of time in your hotel, after a long day of exploring the temples it's feels really nice to come back to a special space to relax and recharge. After the temple crowds, I loved The Samar's quiet charm and tranquility. I also really appreciated the Khmer-inspired architecture and free facial -- such a perk!Dewakan: "An Absolute Must Visit"
"If there is only one restaurant you can go to while you are in KL, then make it this one! I don't usually gush lyrical, but here is a young chef who combines well rehearsed classical technique with inventiveness and an open mind. Added to this is a philosophy that is not floridly wordy, but very much bound to the earth and to his own family traditions. Chef Darren sources his ingredients locally and lets his family recipes be part of his inspiration. So what should you expect? Beautifully prepared dishes with a distinct, sometimes subtle, sometimes strong local flavour, lots of freshness and a little playful fun.
