muang la: "A piece of heaven in the middle of nowhere!"
"After a rough first week of travelling and very cold weather, we were thrilled to spend a couple of nights here. Gorgeous room, with HEATERS and hot water bottles, tastefully decorated, lovely bathrooms, with home grown bathsalts. The setting is delightful, on the river, and the infinity pool on its own island was a good place to unwind with a book when the sun comes out. All the little hidey holes have access to drinks and snacks and service is never far away. The spa itself, with the two huge hot spring-fed pools are elevated so you have a view of the surrounding countryside and are a panacea for weary limbs, and the massage sets you up for the next part of the journey! The five course dinner is light and carefully crafted, full of flavour, and the cocktails inventive and yummy. Little braziers kept us warm while we ate, and a large boma-type fireplace was comforting for an aperitif. We had a long walk on our free day round the local Khamu village, and enjoyed seeing village life at a slow pace, the pace it is lived. Excursions can be arranged to nearby hill tribes, but we didn't know about that. Even though the local staff dont speak much English it is good to see the management trying to give back other local community by providing jobs and an enhanced local spa for the village. I can't rate this place highly enough "Yandabo Home: "takes your breath away"
"when u travel frequently and to many places, u become immune to surprises in hotels..and then something like the yandabo home comes your way..and just blows you away..the product is impeccable..in design, materials and extreme good taste..the location is exceptional..on a bend of a large river..the high roofs..the glass roof light in the shower...and the service and food are great..not to mention the enthusiasm with which the staff takes u around a remarkable remote village of skilled potters..ideal for what is increasingly rare in international travel..a look at the skills of artisans in a genuine surrounding.. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"Cuca: "Great food"
We visited Cuca in Jimbaran, after an event at Polperro winery (Red Hill), hosted by the head chef from Cuca. The food at Polperro was amazing and I was really excited to see the restaurant for the first time. I was not disappointed, the textures, presentation and flavours are fantastic and the staff are warm and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed, it's dimly lit and moody, but if you have a preference for more light, you can always sit at the bar over the kitchen and watch the precision of the team. The outside seating area is in a garden, complete with water features and lanterns. The grounds are generous. Price wise it's not over the top, I loved everything this place, so much so, I have booked again for tomorrow night!!Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Paradise"
Wonderful location and impeccable service. The clubhouse offers good, locally Thai food and the breakfasts are great. The houses are clean, well furnished, and some have great views of the andaman sea Also great if you´re travelling alone. The best part was experienciing moonlight over the beautiful island bay. Simple luxury. Time to relax.Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Magical"
"Stayed for five nights in the Escoy suite, wow what an amazing room. This is one of eighteen rooms at the Blue Mansion. The hotel is a Woking museum with much care taken for the least intrusion of guests. Take the free tour it is so informative...we did this on the first morning and it definitely helped us appreciate just were we where staying!! The staff were amazing,so professional, curtious and helpful. Breakfast is a delight with a host of delicious food on offer and held in beautiful surroundings. The whole ambience at the Blue Mansion is a joy to behold. Near to all the attractions Georgetown has to offer. Room Tip: Lower floor away from food court next door if you prefer quieter rooms"The Village House: "Great stay away from the buzz"
"We stayed in April, trip with my mother. This hotel was a little further out but they were so great at helping to arrange transport and packages before we arrived: orang utans, bake national park etc. The hotel was small, simple, clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful, but what was most surprising was the food! It was delicious, perfectly prepared. A walk along the beautiful, wild beach is also definitely recommended. Not a swimming, crystal clear waters beach, but wild and gorgeous. I would recommend for a quiet getaway in a great location!"Samanea Beach Resort: "“Stunning location – pontoon into the sea a great plus”"
"We were only there for one night, but it's a spectacular location - 12 nicely designed bungalows in a green park where you can't see or hear your neighbors. There were two Khmer families shooting their wedding albums - which gives you some idea of how nice it was - and with a 25 mètre pool you don't need to do into the sea - but there is a 59 mètre or so pier which takes you over the initial mud and far enough out that the sea is easy to swim in Food was excellent - although slightly bizarrely they had no fish or crabs. Extremely Eco friendly, and very nice staff Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"Reverie Siam: "Fantastic hotel"
Everything is great about this hotel. Nice mountain view, excellent restaurant, great customer service. One of the best resorts I have stayed. Choice place to relax and chill out. Keep up the good work, Reverie Siam. Will definitely come back again.Satri House: "Stunning Hotel"
"What a treat ! Such a beautiful ,charming boutique hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights . Everything about this hotel has attention to detail. Our room was so comfortable, could find no fault. We could walk everywhere we needed to go. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were out for most of the days but we loved going back to our hotel. I would highly recommend to stay here . Treat yourself ."Glenburn Tea Estate: "Reminiscent of the Raj"
"I visited the Estate in May 2015 for a week with my family. The welcome drink at the airport and Break at a scenic location overlooking the confluence of 2 rivers with tea, muffins, sandwichs served in typical English style were a delight and set tone for a very different vacation. The Estate (1600 Acres, i was told) is nestled on a hill top and the view is just incredible. We managed to see the Kanchanjunga for 15 minutes on the day we came and thereafter, it remained cloudy during our stay The Food is very good, the tea is on demand (u can order any type u want.. n number of times) and the dinner is a formal sit down affair in the dining hall. They have a log house at the riverside .. the drive, fishing and food again is worth the time. For the excursions to city etc, u get a Scorpio with a driver, attendant in proper uniform who takes care of the food, water, logistics, toy train tickets, etc... u dont need to move a finger. Everything taken care of .. professionally. Visit their tea factory .. nice place to see how tea is made. All in all ... a great place to sit back, get pampered, enjoy the view, have tea and realise that you have been drinking apology of a tea all this time. Fantastic place ... great staff. Oh .. yes .. they still use cutlery from England."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
