Rachamankha: "Inner city oasis"
"Rachamankha is more than a boutique hotel – it is an architectural master piece and a very comfortable oasis right in the middle of Chiang Mai`s hustle and bustle. The rooms are nicely decorated in a very tasteful mix of antiques from different parts and time periods of the world. Everything has been done in a very comfortable way. Attention to detail is visible all around the grounds. During our 7 night´s stay at the Rachamankha we enjoyed the view to the pool from our room and considering that it is located in the middle of the city it is very quiet during the night. The breakfast at the elegant restaurant consisted of a delicious variety of cooked dishes from the menu and a small buffet. The dinner menu offered a wide range of international and Thai dishes which tasted well but not outstanding. To avoid misunderstandings it would be perfect if the waiters would speak a little bit more English."4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Tranqulity and Amazing Staff"
We stayed at 4 Rivers earlier this week as part of our family trip through Cambodia. Although a long drive from Phnom Penh (5-6 hours given Phnom Penh traffic) the drive lets you experience beautiful scenery increasingly taking you into the rainforest areas before reaching the 4 Rivers reception and a short 20 mins boat ride to the Lodge. Once you arrive it is a beautiful setting with the tents floating on the river and the jungle all around. The tents are well equipped, spacious and private. The first night we were taken out on the river the see the fire flies and the second day we kayaked, swam in the river and took the side trip to the waterfalls which were fantastic. The staff at the resort were a mix of local villagers and the managers were from the Philippines. All of them were incredibly warm, genuine and helpful and simply wanted to ensure you were having a great time. You constantly are amazed and how wonderful the Cambodians are. The food was very good (taking into account you are in the middle of nowhere). I would encourage everyone to go and visit the lodge and the region as my greatest fear is that once relay discovered the area will fall victim to major development. For now it is a wonderful and magic place.Tugu Bali: "Hotel with old charm"
"Hotel Tugu Bali is located on the shores of Canggu Beach at one of the most romantic places in the island. We stayed here a few nights over the Nyepi day, which is the Balinese day of silence and it was an incredible experience. The staff members have done everything to make this time pleasant for all the guests and we immediately felt like a part of a family. The mission of Tugu luxury art hotels is to bring back to life the art, soul and romance of Indonesia's long forgotten years. The hotel owner is an antique collector for many years and all the priceless pieces of Indonesian antiques and artworks are beautifully positioned around the hotel, blending perfectly with the hotel ambience. From the moment we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by the hotel staff members. They send a car to pick us up from our previous hotel with delicious fruit baskets to enjoy during the ride. A lovely touch! So, from the moment we arrived to the hotel we knew that this would be an unforgettable experience. The hotel manager took us around the hotel and explained us about different antiques and all the special pieces that the hotel possess. At the lobby entrance you stumble upon an impressive wooden giant Garuda, which was carved from a 120-years-old tree. Around the grand lobby are tropical gardens with beautiful lotus ponds and small paths that leads to the resort villas. We stayed in spacious Rejang Suite, which was located on the upper floor of a charming Javanese house. The suite had dark timber interior and was decorated with different artworks. The room had a working area, separate shower and bathroom, a big carved four-poster bed, a terrace with a private spa area and a unique sunken bathtub with amazing views over the Indian Ocean. A dining concept at Hotel Tugu Bali is completely different than in any other hotel we have stayed at. You can choose to dine whenever and where ever you like. We usually had our breakfast in the lobby with lovely view of the garden. The breakfast was a la carte and the food was delicious. They also served the high tea with different sweets every day. In the evening we have planned a romantic dinner Picnik in Bed, but because it was raining, we had to move it from the beach to the 300-years-old Bale Sutra Temple. We felt like a royalty sitting at this big table where many, many years before the royal Balinese kings had their dinner served. Amazing! Hotel Tugu Bali is a special place, it gives you the real Bali feeling. So, if you are looking for an authentic and luxurious hotel in Bali, this is a place for you."The Cabochon Hotel: "Unique, cool hideaway"
Funky public areas, with quirky vintage decor everywhere. Location is superb. Staff are brilliant. Food - limited choice but very good indeed. The perfect omlette. Very much a hideaway. Actual rooms a little tired.Tugu Bali: "Amazing hotel in the center of Canggu"
My husband and I were charmed by Tugu property. The lobby is magnificent and the lotus pond stunning. Our room was decorated with lots of flowers. We had a good glass of wine on our first night with a Nasi Campur. We highly recommend this hotel! We will come back!Sanak Retreat Bali: "Outstanding"
We stayed here for the first 3 nights of our holiday and was perfect after a long flight. The hotel,is surrounded by wall to wall rice fields and is so tranquil that you cannot fail to feel at peace with yourself and the world! Our room was beautiful and we would fall asleep each night to the sound of frogs and crickets. Whilst there we did a trek to a local village and stopped off for a swim at some waterfalls. Our guide Arca was superb, very knowledgeable and you could tell that he actually enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the local area. There is a small pool are which is lovely for relaxing bybwhilst taking in the beauty of the surroundings. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to help. Whilst we were there my husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Our travel agents unbeknown to us had informed the hotel of this fact and after dinner that evening we were presented with a cake to celebrate our anniversary. This Inthought was a really nice touch and totally unexpected. If you want to stay somewhere and be totally unhurried with lovely people with stunning panoramic views then this is the place for you.Babe: "A must try restaurant in KL"
We have been to babe a few times now, and it never fails to impress- Creative and delicious. Food wise, it is Amazing attention to every tiny detail. Michelin starred Chef Ramsey's always comes up with a unique menu. A world class restaurant right here in KL. On top of all that, the view is amazing.Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "What a wonderful cooking (and eating) experience"
"I visited Thahara Inle Heritage to take part in a culinary class with my group of seven; we were joined by another couple who also took part in the class. The head chef/director introduced himself and described the mission of Thahara Inle Heritage and the culinary school. We were provided a cup of herbal tea as well as an apron and a booklet containing the menu we were going to prepare along with the recipes for each item on the menu. We went through the gardens to select vegetables, and returned to the main classroom to start cooking. Each person was assigned one of the culinary students to assist with the cooking. I enjoyed learning about the goals of the students and how long they had been at the school. When I visited, there was 43 culinary students. I learned that the typical term is nine months for the students. I also loved sampling one of the ginger cookies that had been prepared by students. At each station we had two burners, as well as several ingredients which included turmeric, ginger & garlic, fresh crushed tomatoes, rice flower, fish and chicken. We started with a fish and eggplant soup by adding the fish to boiling water, then julienned the eggplant and added that to the water. After adding spices, we mashed the Gish and eggplant and returned them to the water. For each course, we followed the directions of the head chef (with the assistance of student chefs) to create a string bean salad, chicken curry and crispy tempura vegetable balls. We were then seated for dining and served our own dishes. Everyone enjoyed the food and the great experience. We were each given the menu and recipes as well as an apron. Such a great experience that supports Thahara Inle Heritage and provides participants with lasting memories. Stayed March 2016, traveled solo"Villa Song Saigon: "beautiful riverside hotel"
We stayed 3 nights in March. Everything about the hotel was lovely- room, staff, pool and food. District 2 is quiet with good local restaurants and bars and taxis from the airport and city centre cheap. The hotel also provides a boat shuttle to the city which was great fun. Rooms on the upper floors will be quieter. The Island Lodge: "Great Place to stay in the Mekong"
Spacious and attractive bungalow room with views over the lovely garden. Great swimming pool overlooking the river and attractive open restaurant and bar. Food is good and reasonably priced with a range of French and Vietnamese dishes. Staff and proprietor are welcoming and friendly
