"First the location on the wide rivers is simply to dream about. You can swim from your luxury tent or watch the boats the birds or the sky. The lodge is staffed by gentle people who attend to every wish. The food is delicious. I would put it high on the list of adventures in Cambodia. Loved the sunset cruise and waterfall excursion. "We arrived at villa song to a warm welcome, we booked a sanctuary suite which was very spacious and high ceilings with a lovely standard! The hotel is French colonial architecture which is gorgeous, we was also welcomed at breakfast by the manager Yega who gave us some interesting info of places to see and do in Saigon which we did and much appreciated, thank you Yega. Overall the place is gorgeous and in a great location on the river Siagon and you must take the complementary speedboat to the city!!! :)"Rachamankha: "Zen Hotel"
We loved our stay at Rachamankha. As others said, it felt like you were in a secluded location when you were actually right in the heart of old town Chiang Mai. Paul, the manager, is too good for words. He found out we were on our honeymoon...at our next hotel in Krabi, we had a package waiting for us in our room one night. It was a custom piece of artwork, with both my and my wife's names written in thai, and a personal note from Paul thanking us for staying at the hotel. "This resort is truly phenomenal! This place embodies elegance, comfort and class. Not only are the grounds gorgeous, but the service is fantastic as well. We checked in and were greeted with drinks and a tour of our room and the facilities. The hotel had a very quick transport service to drive us into the city whenever we needed. The beds were really comfortable and our room had wonderful locally made toiletries that smelled like freshly peeled ripe oranges. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We ate at the Silhouette Bar & Restaurant every morning for breakfast and once for dinner. The presentation was beautiful and the food was fresh and tasty. "This resort is spectacular. I simply cannot fault it. The welcome was very warm and friendly. We were upgraded to a River front room which was glorious! The room is amazing - modern, light, spotlessly clean, indoor outdoor shower, most comfortable bed I've been in! The restaurant food is beautiful. Big serves and quality produce. Their homemade yogurt at breakfast is beautiful. I didn't want to leave. You must stay here! We also got picked up from Pakse, a free massage each, and dropped over to the other side of the river to catch a bus to 4000 islands."Jings Residence: "An oasis of Calm in Pingyao"
Lonely planet says Pingyao is perfect. Well, Jing's Residence is the perfect place to stay in the perfect walled city. The service is exceptional. They anticipate your every need without being intrusive. Right from the moment you are collected at the airport with snacks to a concierge who helps you plan the perfect activities for your stay... the service is impeccable. The restaurant is outstanding; you'll want to have every meal here! We're foodies and really didn't want to go anywhere else which says a lot for people who normally like to explore local restaurants. The hotel is part of Relais & Chateau and Secret Retreats. My husband and my self visited Chiangmai in 1997 and stayed at the Rachamankha. The feeling of being transported to another world is really true. This hotel is in the midst of the city but the exquisite lay out of the interior and exterior is pretty hard to beat. We spend our winters in Chiangmai since then and visit Rachamankha every week to simply enjoy the tranquility of this wonderful hotel. The staff is very attentive and very well trained. They almost guess and jump to your needs before you can voice them. The kitchen is a very good a mix of Thai and European cuisine. Good wines. We really consider ourselves fortunate to have discovered this gem. I was impressed by the owners astute insight into the the Thai culture which he has presented in his unique style. We are fans of Rachamanka
