Mathis Retreat: "Great get away"
"If you're a couple looking for a quite & complete getaway from the loud to be lazy, then this is the place! Nice cozy rooms and the balcony will certainly make you feel relaxed. Having your breakfast with a panoramic view of the rice fields definitely adds value to your stay. There aren't much happening around & location may appear remote from Ubud centre, yet the shuttle service may solve your concerns. If you need ideas Karine will help you with attractions and tours, was a great idea consulting with her for our stay!"Glenburn Tea Estate: "What a stunning place"
"After a bad experience in one of the ""top"" hotels in Darjeeling itself, we came to the Glenburn a night earlier than we had planned. As soon as we arrived and got a very warm welcome from Alex we knew we would like it here. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated in a colonial style. After settling into our room tea and cake was brought down to us (another major plus as far as we are concerned). The staff were fantastic. Dinner was very civilised and the food was great. A 2.5hr trek down to the river was another highlight...it's quite a trek but we had a great guide and upon arrival one of the team was waiting with cool towels and a drink. We then had G&Ts and a delicious lunch served by the river bank. Magical. Highly recommended and we will definitely come back."Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Delicious"
Delicious food, very tasty herbs and flavour. Quite busy so need to make reservation in advance. They only have two tasting menu but good food. Will be filled after six course atUS$31.Anopura: "5 star Oasis"
"In a quiet, rural valley down a country road only an hour by car from Jaipur lies the most beautiful and rather unexpected oasis, which is Anopura. From the moment you are greeted at the front door by the perfectly groomed male staff with a small glass of fresh pineapple juice, you realise you are in a very special place where the service is discrete and perfect. The beautifully designed garden is perfectly tended and groomed with a square pool at its centre, which trickles refreshingly as you bask in the sunshine and peace on a comfy chair or bed, away from the bustle and noise of town life. The food is excellent (if a little European on our one day there) and Ishwar, the manager, is always ready to chat and answer your questions. The room was one of only two (!) at Anopura and we were the only guests, which suited us perfectly. Ishwar took us on a most enjoyable and instructive walk past the temple and through the local village, led by gorgeous Latika, the hotel's resident golden lab who kept us both amused throughout our stay with her love for life and great affection for the guests. Every detail in Anopura's design has been carefully thought out to ensure your stay feels luxurious and yet very much still a wildlife lodge. As we sat by the pool in the evening, enjoying the heat of the firepit before dinner, we were treated to a jackal repeatedly barking the other side of the hedge at the bottom of the garden, echoed by the local dogs sounding the alarm. Our only regret was that we had not booked for more than one night - a real gem of India."Mathis Retreat: "Paradise in the ricefields"
"We had such an amazing time at Kenanga Hotel. The place is located in a perfectly preserved location in Ubud. Surrounded by the ricefields and the palmtrees, the bungalows look beautiful and are very comfortable. Everything is super clean! The swimming pool is perfect as well and allows you to enjoy the peaceful landscape while relaxing in the water. The staff is adorable, smily and very attentionate to the customers' need. Karine, the French Manager of the hotel is extremely kind and helpful. She will help you if you need anything to plan your visits and to improve your experience at the hotel. You can also have a nice walk in the ricefields all around at sunrise and/or sunset time. The restaurant is also delicious and offers high quality food at a good price. Try it! I would deeply recommend this hotel. Just go there and forget everything else!!"Maduzi Hotel: "Return to Maduzi"
"I had twice before stayed at Maduzi although some years before and found each stay most excellent. This stay, with friends, was also exceptional. Maduzi is located in downtown Bangkok right near the Skyway and a short walk to Centre Point shopping mall; the Paragon complex is but four Skyway stops away. Breakfast is included, and the choices are unique; I cannot understand anyone finding fault with the variety or quality offered, and breakfast was a pleasure. Maduzi is a truly unique (yep, that word can be used again and again), boutique hotel, a retreat in downtown Bangkok in beautiful surroundings and rooms with service that can satisfy almost all. My wife and friends thoroughly enjoyed their stay as I did. Room Tip: Upper floors are probably best because the roar of Bangkok traffic almost defied sound-proofing."The Hue House: "Wonderful food with stunning ambience"
Perched high on a rooftop in Central Ho Chi Minh City, this restaurant oozes style and matches it with visually stunning and tasty food. It may be a little difficult to find, for some, but its worth finding. Varied menu to cater for all tastes.Maison Polanka: "Wonderful place to stay"
We stayed at Polanka in early April and it was wonderful. All of us (2 adults, 2 boys 11 & 15) loved it. Julie & Kathy helped us arrange everything (guides, tickets to the Circus, cooking lessons) and had great suggestions for shopping & places to eat. The property is an oasis of calm; the food is fantastic (the chef who gave my son & I our cooking lesson is marvelous); and the swimming pool is the perfect antidote to hours of walking through the temples. The owners of the hotel are long-time supporters of local artists and the entire property shows a deep connection to the local community. We can't wait to go back.Glenburn Tea Estate: "Restful stay"
"We enjoyed our stay here very much. You can do as much or as little as you like. Our spacious room in the new bungalow faced onto the mountain ranges in the distance, over nearby Sikkim, and we could also look up to Darjeeling way above. We enjoyed our ""Bed"" coffee each morning. We visited Darjeeling, had a guided walk around the tea gardens plus walking there on our own, and a guided walk to the suspension bridge into Sikkim, followed by a very good lunch by the river. The food was very good in general, breakfast and lunch are served outside. We enjoyed the dinners in the old bungalow dining room with its huge table.Though communal dining may not be for everyone. Lovely place to stay, once you have arrived after the grim road trip there! Recommend timing flight in so that the drive doesn't need to be done in the dark. But worth it for a minimum 3 nights perhaps, we stayed for 5. Very much enjoyed our stay, a good end to a busy trip."David’s Kitchen: "A wonderful experience"
Excellent french cuisine, friendly attentive service, beautiful surroundings. One of the best meals of my life.
