Tugu Lombok: "Authentic Lombok getaway"
The Tugu resort is a magical place, filled with impressive architecture, artwork and relics of the island's past. The buildings are placed in various parts of this sprawling resort, which ensures that it feels quiet and relaxed, even when fully booked. The rooms are incredible: we stayed with a family of 4 (two teenagers) in a two bedroom Swarga villa with 2 outside bathrooms: the rooms cannot be faulted. They have character and individuality and still all modern amenities. The private beach offers some paddling, snorkling and kayak opportunities and obviously the Gili islands are close for an excursion. The only downside to the resort is the restaurant facilities: when we were there in August, only the main restaurant was open and the choice on the menu is limited and the quality is average (this resort needs a separate fine dining option if it is to keep attracting travellers in a gradually more competitive Lombok market), which is why we "eloped" to have dinner in the Lombok Lodge. Staff in the restaurant area is moreover not trained or motivated to the standards required of such an establishment. This being said, the location and rooms trump these improvement areas, which is why we still give it a five star rating.Manda De Laos: "Be cautious"
"First of all the place is lovely, set around 3 Lilly ponds. At night the lights are magical.try and book a pond side booth or table. The food: the portions are very large, the menu tempting but try not to over order. Food highlights: the Luang Prabang salad with Scott egg( a perfect one plate lunch in itself.the tanguy duck was perfectly cooked but the tarmarind sauce could have been richer. The pork and watercress soup was devine. Service was spot on and the new French manager was delightful. Budget on 850,000 for 2 with wine water and service Perfect for a romantic dinner/ celebration"Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Paradise"
"This is Thailand's best kept secret. Charming and secluded and really really well run by Massi, the hotel manager. We were in heaven and are dreaming about our next visit. No tvs, no air conditioning, running water that smells a little due to minerals, but none of it matters when you are at the golden Buddha because you are drawn into a Robison Crusoe fantasy that you seldom find anywhere these days. Lots of nature and very little to do except enjoy the surroundings. Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"Tugu Bali: "Simply perfect!"
"We stayed at Hotel Tugu for 5 nights in April in one of the Dedari Suites (with a private pool). The second you walk into the hotel you know that you are going to have an amazing time. It is stunning and has a lot of art and statues and is very tranquil. We were given a welcome drink and orientation to the hotel and then taken to our room. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The rooms are enormous, have a 4 poster bed, gorgeous bathrooms with a sunken bath, shower and separate toilet. The garden area was equally stunning with a swing sofa and pool - not big enough to exercise in but bigger than a plunge pool I would say. One thing that for me really set this hotel apart was the fact that you can eat from the a la carte menu anywhere in the hotel or grounds that you choose. In addition, breakfast was included and you also order this from the a la carte menu any time of day from 7am. This was a massive bonus - too many times on holiday you force yourself out of bed to go to breakfast but we had it in our room every day and the choice available was excellent. Afternoon tea is served every day in the lobby every day. Also, if you get the chance we had one of their set meals one night and ate in the private dining room which is like a little museum full of curios and the food was incredible. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They can't do enough for you and were always smiling and polite. The rooms were kept beautifully clean and the Balinese massage at the spa was so relaxing my husband almost fell asleep! The location is also great. Just note that although it is set by the beach (so you can hear the waves at night) that the actual hotel is not on the beachfront and there are no sun loungers available on the sand. This wasn't a problem for us but it may be for some people. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It was relaxing, beautiful and interesting - just what we needed for a few days of peace and tranquillity!"Jing’s Residence: "Little bit of paradise in Pingyao"
"The Jing's residence is a lovely hotel right in the center of Pingyao. Pingyao itself is quite noisy, however you don't hear this at all inside the hotel. We booked a courtyard suite, which was actually two courtyard rooms converted into one room, with bedroom, sitting room, walk in wardrobe and bathroom. All very nice and the complimentary mini bar was a nice touch too, plus there is a turn-down service on a night. We ate in the restaurant which it is the most expensive restaurant in Pingyao by far but we really enjoyed the food, service and having the entire restaurant to ourselves! would recommend. We also had the afternoon tea which contained a selection of savory and sweet finger food (local to the area), along with Chinese tea of your choice. The ginger and lemon tea is particularly nice! The staff at the Jing's are all very efficient, pleasant and happy to help - a feat you do not normally get in China so this makes it stand out straight away. Would 100% recommend this hotel, its worth the extra pennies!"Villa Song Saigon: "Saigons Gem"
This hotel sited amongst the old colonial French homes of District 2 is worth the short drive from the centre .... surrounded by lush gardens, riverside dining, pool and spa all make this a gem to stay in away from the hustle and bustle of SaigonVILLA SONG SAIGON: "Old School Elegance"
"Wow - what a place. Right on the river. To catch a ride to the heart of District 1, there is no shuttle bus. There is a shuttle boat - a speed boat. You ride up the river, past all the barges and little tugboats - past all the major waterfront development as you approach the heat and noise of Ho Chi Minh City. Villa Song is located in an exclusive old part of the city, tucked away on its own - by the water. We had a room overlooking the river. It was amazing to look out and see a container barge floating by so close. The restaurant is world class in my opinion. The chef has some great ideas about ingredients and presentation. The pool is a bit small and cramped but who cares. This is Saigon, baby. The staff were friendly and professional. We had a late checkout - no problem. The experience overall was flawless. Highly recommended. "Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Sensational"
Absolutely sensational cambodain cuisine: the food, the service and the atmosphere make this our favorite on our three weeks trip thru Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Two set menus and if you don't like something, they will adapt. The ( Frecnh) owner couple is incredibly talented, friendly and helpful. He cooks and she is attenting the tables. The food is excellent and creative with local fresh ingredients. Tip: make a reservation at least two weeks ahaed and if you did not, call within one hour of you going, you might get lucky!Muang La Resort: "Magical and relaxing"
Staying here was worth the drive! Peaceful, relaxing, and downright magical. We stayed four days and each day felt more at peace. It was wonderful to watch the locals go about their activities on the river from the balcony of our comfortable room. Rui-Yang and Jean-Roch were helpful and caring hosts. We enjoyed the excursions to the hill tribes and to the local village and temple. The food was delicious. I'm glad that the staff are locals - they are so kind - and Rui-Yang or Jean-Roch were always available to translate. The grounds are beautiful, and gorgeous butterflies are everywhere. This is a simple, charming and beautiful hotel, with a real sense of place. Loved our stay here.4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Ubiquity and Tranquility"
"For the activity lovers, the nature protectors, and paradise chasers. Not even the rain could dampen the sheer beauty of 4 Rivers. Bungalows, floating on a river enveloped with mangroves. Tranquility. Ubiquity. Pure bliss. My boyfriend and I stayed at 4 Rivers for two nights and two day. Had we had the time we would have stayed longer. From the get go we experienced nothing but kindness. Attentive to our every need, it is the staff who truly shapes your experience, and it is the nature which caters to your mind, body and soul. Both are the icing on this layered cake of pure bliss. We will return, now that we have lived and breathed in the rainy season, we would love to compare to the dry. Both, we know will be incomparable. But still, we wish to have an excuse to return. To feel warm and rested is a blessing. 4 rivers is like no where else. If not for a guarantee of ubiquity. 4 rivers guarantees tranquility."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
