"My only disappointment is that it took me so long to experience this treasure of a restaurant. It’s world class, not only in its delivery of exceptional Thai food but it’s down to earth nature. One for a repeat visit at every opportunity and I’ve been enjoying Thai cuisine for 30 years. Full marks to the owners, a wonderful gastronomic experience. Stayed there with a few friends. The hotel itself is so beautifully decorated with priceless antiques, and the hospitality was exemplary! We were to go to Pananjakan to watch the sunrise over mt. Bromo, and since we were to leave the hotel at 1 am, we would have had to miss breakfast that day. The hotel packed (beautiful presentation too!) a sumptuous breakfast for each of us. "A true TUGU experience. Peaceful, good service. They have a lawn area with direct access to the beach.Turn left and the beach goes on forever and it's a clean beach too (a rarity in Indonesia). Anyway the room are beautiful, it has a lovely garden and as usual the hotel is full of antiques and artifacts. To note: The rooms upstairs have access via a spiral staircase, it quite steep. (this might be a consideration for some if you have mobility restrictions or don't like heights) The restaurant was good but pricey for the quality (I'm used to Jakarta price/quality ratio)"Rachamankha: "Surrounded by tasteful chinese art"
Its hard to imagine that this secret retreat is in the heart of Chaing Mai - The hotel is absolutely gorgeous - exquisite - so charming - the furniture is to die for - so tasteful - my husband and I adored our stay there - and because it was so central - we were able to visit the market by foot just 5 mins away. What a gem this place is - and I loved the symmetry - wow just awesome. Food was fab - and every afternoon my hubby and I would just sit and drink tea and soak it all in. "We only stayed at The Island Lodge for one night but had a great experience. The staff including Michel the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Great rooms with view to the mekong delta and cleaning was spotless. Breakfast was really good and the winelist for dinner is second to none in all of Asia. "This must be my 8 or 9th visit to rachamnkha. It is such a great place to stay. The manager, Paul, is without doubt one of the best hoteliers I have ever met. And the praise doesn't stop with him. The staff are 2nd to none. The rooms are excellent, and the garden setting that the hotel is situated in is an oasis in the city. The breakfast is the best I have ever encountered in many years of travelling, and the lunch and dinner do not disappoint. If you are staying in Chang Mai, stay here. If you are not staying in Chiang Mai , then change your plans and stay here. It's worth the trip. Without doubt, and pound for pound, is the best place you will ever stay in Thailand. If you ever have the chance to visit Lombok for honeymoon occasion, consider staying at Tugu as it has the most romantic beach in the North part of the island. A beautiful white sandy beach combined with breathtaking view is too good to be missed. They offer lots of activities such as golfing, snorkelling to Gili, and some recommended tours. There are not many choices for food outside the hotel though. The service is excellent in many ways. Our stay was the most memorable one as the staff always paid attention to every small detail. We stayed two nights at the Cabochon and I could have happily holed up there for weeks. The staff were so brilliant, our room was gorgeous, the location just of Sukhumvit was perfect for exploring Bangkok but far enough away from the main road to provide some peace and quiet while we were back at base. The rooftop pool was amazing and exactly what we needed after the heat of the city. But the real praise has to go to the kitchen - this was easily the best food we ate in Thailand. We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the Cabochon. Despite it's luxurious and ornate colonial vintage style, it didn't feel stuffy or 'too nice to touch.' Everyone was super lovely and very chilled out and there was nothing more blissful than having a happy hour cocktail on the front porch after spending the day exploring the city via the nearby Sky Train. Thank you for a wonderful stay to everyone at The Cabochon. Frankly, I can't wait to get back there.Maison Polanka: "An oasis in the city"
We felt well taken care of by the staff - every time we arrived we were greeted with cold towels and a willingness to help with any details to make our trip more enjoyable. The property is utterly an oasis in the city - tons of greenery and the pool the perfect way to cool off on a hot afternoon. Since there are not many rooms, we felt like we had the place practically to ourselves and the peaceful atmosphere was most welcome.
