Just a little out of the hustle and bustle of Ubud this hotel was fantastic. Tucked back off the street the entry isn't that inviting.But once inside, you see the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the rice fields and the thatched roof open air restaurant. We stayed in a bungalow with a private little yard (#7) Just behind the beautiful pool, an across from the restaurant. The room was very large, high ceilings, roomy bathroom. We loved it!! It has a shuttle into town and back. It was always great to get back to this beautiful place for a good meal, peace and quiet. It felt like we were coming home. Book this place. While expensive by any town's standard this calm in the storm of sensations that is Bankok is worth it. Ms Atom and the staff are so welcoming we felt like family (in a good way), maybe even royalty. The food, both breakfast and a diner, are first rate. And you can eat while you watch the constant parade of boats on the river, most entertaining. The flower market just down the street is fascinating, especially at night. Must see sights abound in the neighborhood and the water bus-boat stops are just around the corner to take you up or down river. Skip the in room drinks and grab your refreshments from any of several shops (even 7 Eleven) along the street. Lounge by the pool or sit on one of the the riverside decks. I really like this restaurant. It doesn't have too many tables, so it's not crowded. The kitchen is open to the customers - always a good sign. The staff are all good. The food, cooking, and experience, all superb. Not too expensive, although it is not cheap. The pork fat candles were excellent. Everything was excellent. Had a glass of very good wine. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The chef came out to talk to us. We had a lovely time.Maison Polanka: "Maison Polanka a Haven"

"My second visit to his wonderful hotel. The rooms are simple and roomy and the building feels like a piece of history. Lovely staff and a great bar. Best gin and tonic in Thailand? The local Thai breakfast option was delicious and interesting. Definitely worth a try as it's so different to what we expect from Western breakfast. Pool is quiet. No kids! "We had heard lots of bad things about stay in HouseBoats and had finally decided to skip this experience. But thanks to our travel agent who forced us book this place. I just have one Word for the houseboat ""AWESOME""!!! The houseboat is extra clean with no foul odor. The service is top notch! The food was excellent (bit slow in serving) They have well trained staff and could feel the difference with the way they treated people. The Deck was nice and had a very good view. We regret staying for only 1 day, and would surely return for a longer stay. "The tugu bali hotel is well located in Canggu: near the beach, close to restaurants & bars and surf spots! The rooms and suites are fantastics as well as the the swimming pool and the spa. This retreat was so dreamy. The room is stunning, with the option to open up the whole room with sliding glass doors. Food was very good. We did the trek to a waterfall with Gusti ( our guide). He was so lovely, very smiley and friendly. He explained the local work and introduced us to the local people. We were delighted to have such a great tour guide. We also did a spa treatment, I have to say it was the best massage in Bali. This Retreat is surrounded by nature. It is so charming, I would recommend for light sleepers to bring ear plugs. The sound of frogs, birds and the river was very peaceful.
