Tugu Bali: "Boutique hotel with fine food"

Review by: lovetravelAustralia | Source: Trip Advisor
"We dined at the Hotel Tugu twice within one week while we were staying at a nearby villa with friends. The first meal was lunch on Valentines Day which also coincided with our friend's anniversary. The hotel is stunning, with many historic artifacts scattered throughout the public areas of the hotel. Cocktails in the bar before lunch were delicious, I particularly enjoyed the Tugu Gin Tea! We were seated in a private dining room for four (just off the main seating area) overlooking the pool and gardens. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch of Indonesian and other Asian dishes which were fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Desserts were also spectacular, in particular Black sticky rice pudding with Mango. A complimentary dessert was presented to our friends to celebrate their anniversary, a lovely touch. We were all so impressed we rebooked for dinner later in the week! Before dinner we had cocktails again but this time on the rooftop of of the hotel while overlooking the beach and a spectacular sunset and then again dined in the small private dining room. We preordered Babi Guling, the Indonesian roast pork specialty which was plated beautifully and was absolutely mouth watering. We indulged in an Italian Pino Griggo which was good value for money and a terrific wine. Special mention must be made of the incredible staff at Hotel Tugu, friendly, knowledgeable - just delightful really! We also requested to inspect the rooms at the hotel and were shown two different types of rooms, both very Balinese and very well appointed. We would love to return to the Hotel Tugu to experience staying at this boutique hotel and also to feast upon the fine food available there. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"

CHAKRABONGSE VILLAS: "The perfect oasis in the heart of Old Bangkok"

Review by: heyjessnyc | Source: tripadvison.com
"I have used tripadvisor to plan trips for years, but our magical time at the Chakrabongse Villas has finally inspired me to write a review of my own. We could not have found a more perfect place to spend the final 3 days of a 2 week trip to SE Asia. Atom, the manager, and her staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and helpful in making our stay in Bangkok so special, and upgraded us to the Garden View Suite, which was lovely. Tucked away in beautiful, lush gardens right on the banks of the Chao Praya river and directly across from Wat Pho and a short distance to the Grand Palace, the Chakrabongse Villas, is truly a hidden gem. Being in the heart of Old Bangkok meant that we could return to the hotel for a quick dip in the gorgeous pool to cool off from the infamous Bangkok heat before heading out for the next excursion. I highly recommend arranging to have dinner at the Chakrabongse Villas for an unforgettable experience - the dinner we had with a private table set up on the terrace right next to the river was the most romantic, and one of the most delicious, we've ever had (the owner is a descendant of the Thai kings Rama IV & V so the dishes are from the Royal Family's own recipes). We also enjoyed our tour of Bangkok's canals in the Chakrabongse Villa's own long tail boat. If you are looking for the perfect boutique hotel that offers a peaceful, historical oasis in hectic and hot Bangkok, then I cannot recommend Chakrabongse Villas highly enough. Thank you, Atom, for helping to make our stay so extraordinary. "

The Island Lodge: "Fabulous"

Jing’s Residence: "Wonderful Experience"

Review by: Judith G | Source: Trip Advisor
"Our family of three adults spent two nights at Jing’s Residence. It was by far one of our favorite stays in our 19 day China journey. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The hotel is situated in the walled city which makes checking in and out interesting. No cars are allowed so you are met at the gates by electric cars for your transfer. We ate at Jing’s two evenings. The first evening we ordered of the menu and were delighted with our cocktails and food choices. The next evening, the hotel and chef Henry were very gracious to put together a cooking class for us spur of the moment. Again the food was wonderful and we had a great, fun time interacting with the staff. We can now make dumplings and noodles. We also ate breakfast there twice. It was adequate and good. Service was prompt and delightful. I wish I was returning to Pingyao to relive this special place"

Anopura Resort: "Five stars isn’t enough!"

Review by: Neal57 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We were completely blown away by Anopura. If I could give it ten stars it would be too few. There has been great care and skill in the design and furnishing. It's tasteful and comfortable, and Ishwar and the team are superb. They have looking after people well down to a fine art - caring but not fawning. Latika, the loveliest dog in the world broke the ice. Inside a couple of hours we were involved in an international boules tournament involving the other 2 guests, and Ishwar and Dennis. The food was amazing whether it was Indian or European - we had a beautiful cheese shuffle and an amazing salad for lunch within 20 minutes of Ishwar making the suggestion. Go for a walk round the village in the evening and take up the offer of a visit to a ruined local hunting lodge. I won't spoil the surprises. We were there 3 nights and the whole took on a dreamlike quality. The air was clean, the temperature perfect, and the unheated pool invigorating. If it was easier to get there I'd never go anywhere else. As we were leaving Latika just lay there with a sad face instead of rushing up with tail wagging. She seemed very sad to see us leaving. But she wasn't half as sad as we were."

Not far from night market. Food is really delicious and atmosphere is so great. Staffs can speak English, and little expensive.

Tugu Bali: "One-of-a-kind experience"

Review by: AnnaKingShahab | Source: Trip Advisor
"We spent two wonderful nights at Tugu and can't fault anything about our experience. Highlights included a cooking class with the wonderful Sri and her assistant Gusti, the full and new moon massage, and enjoying cocktails and nibbles at Ji. Also, the breakfasts which we could have served wherever we liked were amazing - highly recommend the traditional Indonesian set menu for breakfast. With so many new hotels popping up in Seminyak and now Canggu, Tugu offers something they can't - tradition, a story, and a sense of feeling calm in the middle of a bit of a storm of new development. Would definitely return for longer next time. Great location too, right beside Old Man's and with so many amazing places to eat and shop just up the road. Room Tip: Hard to choose between the sea view upper suites and the ground floor pool suites!"

Maison Polanka: "Holiday in Cambodia"

Review by: JDH67 | Source: Trip Advisor
"I have wanted to visit Cambodia for years, and finally made the jump over during a business trip to Singapore. I had about 72 in Siem Reap, and it was an unforgettable, fantastic trip and much of that was due to the help from the wonderful people at Maison Polanka. My 72 hours were well spent and organized to see Angkor Wat and the surrounding area, as well as relax in the beautiful garden and pool at Maison. In short, consider Maison Polanka and stay here if you can, it was wonderful and I am so glad I chose Maison. I would be very glad to return. Stayed January 2017, traveled solo"

Dewakan: "Premium quality and services with affordable price"

Review by: azizyaris | Source: Trip Advisor
Came with partner to celebrate my birthday. Very quiet restaurant with limited space - no other diners except for us. Food taste are hit and a little misses. Was not impressed with the appetizers at first, but when the 2nd main came, it was a game changer, albeit a little over seasoned for us. Ends with very delicious desserts. Some may say, good things comes to those who waits. The restaurant manager and his partner has done a very good job explaining the dishes to us. Fully satisfied with their services. Premium quality and services with affordable price.
