Hotel Tugu Malang: "Fantastic museum that functions as a splendid hotel"

Review by: Flix_vdb | Source: Trip Advisor
"The Hotel Tugu in Malang is truly a gem that is worth visiting when in the area. The high tea is amazing in a colonial setting with a huge array of teas and coffees and also the accompanying delicacies. I highly recommend going on the art tour with Manda, the Guest Recognition Officer. She eloquently explained the most important pieces of art and gave us a nice tour through the whole hotel. In the evening we went to the (cigar) bar, where there's an impressive selection of cocktails, wines and spirits. The bartender was a bit disconnected, but made good cocktails. The breakfast was the only part we were able to enjoy at the restaurant, since we went somewhere else for dinner. Again, a huge selection from which you can choose your preference (healthy options included). Certainly worth visiting, especially for the price they offer. I can even highly recommend the Presidential Suite for 15,000,000 that Manda was so kind to show us. What an impressively sized bed it has, wow! John from the reception was extremely kind too! I almost forgot the most amazing part: even though it's located right in the heart of the city and next to a busy road, the rooms are completely quiet and you enjoy a relaxing sleep."

Manda De Laos: "Luxury dinner but good quality"

This was the first restaurant we tried. Perfect for couples with romantic atmosphere. One of the most expensive restaurant in Laos I would say, but the food is worthy.

Maison Polanka: "Even better than advertised"

Review by: pln61 | Source: Trip Advisor
"To have seen the gorgeous pictures on their website and read the lovely descriptions, one might say “not possible”, but somehow, Maison Polanka manages to exceed one’s expectations --greatly! Our group stayed in the Khmer House and Green Room. Both are spacious and full of character, with an impeccable and sophisticated mix of contemporary and traditional decorations. But rest assured that here style does not come at the expense of guests’ comfort: Extremely comfortable beds; powerful and responsive AC; inviting bathrooms with walk-in showers; indulgent bed and bath linens and amenities; everything spotlessly clean; etc. (...) Service was extraordinarily attentive. At Maison Polanka, our needs and wants were not simply met, they were anticipated. A few examples of the innumerable gestures of hospitality and warmth extended to our group by Cathy and every one of the staff at Maison Polanka : Throughout our four-day stay (amidst the steamy and broiling heat of September ...), every single time we came back to the hotel, no sooner did we walk through the gate when we would be met with chilled towels and a smile; our group was eternally grateful for the abundant supply of chilled towels (with menthol) and bottled water that Maison Polanka so thoughtfully sent with our touring van; knowing our tight schedules, Cathy and Harold worked tirelessly and thoughtfully (and even with last-minute revisions) to be sure that our tours and shopping excursions met our interests; Cathy knew our flight details better than we, and she and Harold were the ones who kept checking with our airline for the most accurate updates while we shamefully lounged around; the yogurt at breakfast was so good, I offered a taste to a friend; within minutes, yogurt magically appeared on her tray. By the way, there is a great deal of talents in the kitchen at Maison Polanka where the preparations reflected a preference for refined nuances and where the presentation was visually stunning : We fell in love with Cambodian cuisine here (...) To the owners of Maison Polanka and to everyone of their amazing staff: thank you for creating for your guests this haven in Siem Reap!"

Satri House: "Wonderful Boutique Hotel"

Review by: Cautiousglobetrotter | Source: Trip Advisor
"What a delightful surprise this little hotel was! We had the absolute best stay. The gardens and pools are amazing. The pictures really doesn't do it justice. We spend hours just lazing on the sun loungers ordering drinks. You couldn't ask for a more perfect location. 5 min walk to all the action, yet quiet and secluded from it at the same time. We enjoyed taking the free bicycles available and taking long rides next to the beautiful Mekong. The entire hotel has been tastefully renovated, the decor is sublime. Each element carefully chosen and blends in with nature and the french heritage of the town. The pools look green because they are tiled in little green tiles that mirror the beautiful gardens. I'm going to make a special mention of the warm and caring staff. We truly felt welcome, and cared for. They would arrange anything, give advice on all, and run after us with umbrellas. We'll be back."

Massage included, yoga sessions, Pilates. Just Amazing"

Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Another relaxing and indulgent week spent at an idyllic beach resort"

Review by: christinegush114 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We have stayed here before so know what to expect and are never disappointed. From our comfortable bungalow with its semi-open bathroom to the amazing food in both restaurants, our stay was the perfect antidote to the pace and stress of everyday life at home. No request is ever too much trouble for any member of staff from housekeeping to the spa, waitors to the yoga intstructor. A week flew past, we could have happily stayed another."

Locavore: "Long, Drawn-Out Food Mystery Tour"

Review by: queen_of_expats | Source: Trip Advisor
"I have had two lunches here and although I liked almost all of the dishes, there are a few that were borderline disgusting. The whole showmanship aspect, lengthy affair of eating each morsel as its own chapter of your life, starts to feel more like some sort of culinary striptease rather than a joyous gifting. I know they want to give each taste its due, but the timing never felt quite right, and sometimes I would anticipate when the next dish would arrive, eating ridiculously slowly, only to be surprised by the sudden arrival of the next amazing thing. This place aims to create a tour de force dining experience, with discs of some mashed-together vegetable, or a deep fried leaf of something you never thought of eating. Exquisite sauces, pleasing texture combinations, and clever reinventions of some silly thing like a mushroom... these are what are in store for you at Locavore. But every once in a while, you get some taste of something straight out of American Psycho, the novel where young investment bankers vie for tables at NYC's latest culinary palaces, with such bizarre dishes as ""Shad Roe Omelet"" are on the menu. By the way, I want to thank Locavore for never serving me anything with sea foam on it. There's a gimmick you will see at Mosaic, but, thankfully, never encountered that fad at Locavore. The chef is into invention, rather than riding trends set by others. That said, there were a couple of memorable dishes (for the wrong reasons) which were just too weird to finish. I mean, I could eat around this one that had some sort of oatmeal-type grain... it wasn't polenta or oats, either. It was just too cold and mushy, though, and I went for the sauce and crispy bits next to the gruel. When I asked for a custom cocktail, describing to the waiter that I liked bitters and dry flavors, he came back from the bartender with a suggestion for something described as using sugar. I had to kind of back-and-forth it for several minutes with the waiter and bartender before he arrived at something without sugar or fruit, and it was tasty and original, but I was surprised by the amount of discussion we had to have. I do appreciate the precision concern for my tastes in alcohol and seasoning, but be forewarned that if you ask the bartender to invent something for you, it may mean starting a conference. I still give these guys a high score because there is nothing else like it in Bali, and the cooks take such pride in their work. But be aware that not every exquisite little dish will be a firecracker of pleasure. Hard surfaces throughout the restaurant make for awful acoustics. Sound bounces everywhere and I prefer softer atmospheres for fine dining."

Summertime Villa: "Beautiful Villa, Great Location"

Review by: Jiten S | Source: Trip Advisor
"The villa is absolutely fantastic in terms of decor and amenities. Designed and built by the owners, every artifact in the house has been very carefully selected. It's a a beautiful home best experienced personally as no pictures can do justice to the beauty of the place. It's managed very professionally with very accomodating staff. The location though is the best part, just off main Calangute road with easy access to beaches, restaurants and other fun activities. Kudos to the owner Hans, who is an extremely warm person and knows a lot about hospitality and how to keep his guests comfortable."
