The Apsara Rive Droite: "Great hospitality, nice and cozy place"
Just got back from a 3-night visit in Luang phrabang. Stay here is fantastic. The place is very relaxed and cozy. Nice experience to ride a boat to downtown. The staff is great, especially Hann (GM) Who has excellent service-minded. I would love to go there again as the escape weekend.4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "A Wonderful Experience"
We stayed here recently for 3 nights at the end of a month long tour of Vietnam and Cambodia.Everything about it was fantastic. The location, the wonderful luxurious tents, the food, the friendly helpful service by all of the staff, the excursions...it was all magical. We did the early morning jungle trek and the boat trip to a remote village and kayaking in the mangroves. Our guide was so helpful and interesting (sorry can't remember his name) and it was lovely to see his family waving from their home just over the river. We also took kayaks (my first ever venture) and crossed the river to visit the local village. We were greeted by one of the families, given a tour around by foot to some of the villagers homes and they went out of their way to get fresh coconuts down for us to drink. The whole setting is wonderful and was such a relaxing treat after such a hectic holiday. We would thoroughly recommend 4 Rivers, we only wish we could returnLe Du Wine Bar & Restaurant: "Outstanding creative meal by a wunderkind chef"
I went to Le Du after several excellent meals in Bangkok, which is a foodie heaven. i was blown away by the creativity and the unusual flavours. Le du offers a terrific changing set menu from which to choose. For starters, I had the shrimp-pork ball with jasmine ice cream, intense and succulent. Followed by an adventurous ant larvae-in-fish-fermented sauce - it was unusual in texture and flavour, memorable. Then an interesting chicken dish and a finger-licking dessert. The staff are young and enthusiastic, and the open kitchen provides some theatrics. Chef Ton, a young Thai, was personally supervising. All in all, Le du was an eye-opener, and showing the way forward for fusion foodRak Ko Jae Seoul: "Nice experience"
If you want a "local living" experience, this hanok is really nice. You sleep on a mattress on the floor, traditional style. They serve a traditional Korean-style dinner every evening, as well as breakfast every morning. The only downsides: there is really no classic staff like in a bigger hotel, only a caretaker who changes the sheets and cooks the food, and both of the women who were working there during my stay didn't speak a word of English, so if you are looking for recommendations or for someone to call you a taxi, it might be difficult.Tugu Bali: "Amazing service"
"We have chosen this hotel to start our 10 days Bali tour moving from West, to Ubud and ending by Candidasa. Fantastic boutique hotel, wooden construction and local spirit. Everything is warm and easy. In a private garden, you may choose pool house or ""Rejang Suite"" (such as we did). Food and service are just great. Our only one unhappiness was the environment, with a dirty beach (we'be been told that it is normal during this period). But what an amazing sunset !!! Some local shops (cloths and vegan restaurant) are only 15mn by walk or 2-5mn by scooter. We shall definitely return during our next trip. Enjoy "The Island Lodge: "Very recommended place"
I didn’t stay here, I only visit friend whom was staying there. This place a hidden gem, very quiet and peaceful. I really impressed when the owner also greet the their customers and visitors, the staff also very friendly. I tried their croissant, the taste just so lovely. Maybe sometime I would love to come back and stay there with friends for a night.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "A Wonderful Wildlife Safari ro remember forever"
"We were a big family comprising 3 generations, mostly inexperienced campers plus one passionate elephant keeper/ animal conservationist,,and we arrived to a warm welcome which included delicious cold drinks and towels. Very welcome after a long drive from Ella .Right from the start of my research into a safari into Yala NP over a year ago, I had a special feeling that this safari was going to be a huge highlight of our big family trip to Sri Lanka. Wonderful pre trip communication with Sophie and Noel, and then we met Sajit, Praneeth , Damien and the rest of the wonderful team. Our great, comfortable tents ( I could even use the outdoor shower at first go ), delicious, varied food. We had 3 picky children, a 15 yr old vegan and all the rest, and we loved ALL the food. Great get togethers in the communal areas, with those G&Ts and Tiger beer. What can I say about the fantastic expertise of Sajit and his team. We learnt about animal alarm calls, Sajit provided us with a priceless example of using them to spot a glorious leopard in the fading dusk light. Of course when you go on safari you hope to see the prized animals, and we sure did, but we also learnt about the expertise and experience required to locate these majestic creatures. We also loved the colourful birds, mongoose, jackals , peacocks and the stunning varied landscapes. 2 dawn safaris, 2 dusk safaris, a bear, elephants, numerous deer, families of monkeys, and miraculously a few sightings of leopards. An experience of a lifetime, We Thank you All from the bottom of our hearts, A true highlight of our trip, and we hope to return and have recommended you to family and friends. Kind Regards from Jennifer, Juris and family. Room Tip: The best safari tents, great beds and very adequate amenities."Tugu Malang: "Wonderful Heritage Hotel"
"This is a 5 star hotel and more on the expensive side. We stayed here two nights and were very content. The reason we decided to stay here was because they have a room that the first president of Indonesia, Sukarno, used to stay in. You can see his room on request. They also have a lot of historical indonesian objects on display like a full gamelan set which you also get to play, an original tea room with complimtary teatime and snacks, breakfast was included and you have the choice between continental breakfast and indonesian breakfast (both are excellent). Our room was pristine with crisp linen sheets and has ac. The shower and toilet is outside and feels very exotic with all the plants. On your arrival you get a complinentary drink and fruit. The staff is very friendly and help you with anything you need. What we especially liked about the hotel was that all the packaging wasn't plastic. They used natural material. We would definetely stay here again if we could."Villa Song Saigon: "Wonderful Gem of a Boutique Hotel – Do Not Miss"
"A beautifully restored French Colonial property, Villa Song boasts just 23 rooms in a low key neighborhood, surrounded by expat residences and international schools. Hard to imagine that not much more than a decade ago, this area was pretty much swamp land! Before going, you really should know what Villa Song is not: - This is not a large chain hotel - every contact you have with the staff is friendly and warm, and chances are you may not know their names but they will certainly know yours. You're not just a face in the crowd. However, for being of such an intimate size, Villa Song has the extras that you don’t often find in similar boutique hotels: a gorgeous long swimming pool for doing laps or sunning yourself by, a pretty decently equipped gym room (machines & free weights), and a spa that doesn’t break the bank. - This is not a property you visit to party at as there's no late night bar or club thumping away downstairs (thank goodness). Along the same lines, don’t expect around-the-clock room service – we certainly didn’t miss it, since there’s a ton of late night delicious eats in this city. - Having said that, this is not the most accessible hotel to popular street eats and the sights, but it's surprisingly easy to get around, thanks to the complimentary hotel boat shuttle that zips you up/down the Saigon River to/from the Cau Mong pier on the border of Districts 4 & 1. These run on a schedule (book at the reception beforehand), and if there isn't one when you need it, an Uber saves you the hassle of dealing with unscrupulous cabbies, and takes you to/from the middle of District 1 within 15min for around US$6- US$7. Now onto what this beautiful property IS: - It is infinitely charming. Every room is unique, and even the same room type will vary in size. You'll get the same awesome water pressure in the shower though, which we loved, and lightning fast wi-fi. Also, in our case, although the Sanctuary room that we were upgraded to was a bit petite in size, we had a wonderful good-sized balcony that overlooked the river...perfect for a mid-afternoon beer (complimentary from the minibar) or a snooze. Breakfasts by the river are a calming way to start the day, no matter what time you decide to rise (!!!), and the food is well- portioned and delicious. And THAT iced Vietnamese coffee...my partner and I will be dreaming of those until our next visit! - It is incredibly service oriented. From check-in to check-out, and for our every want in-between, the staff at Villa Song offer up their help with warmth and smiles...we felt truly welcomed and at home. Besides our complimentary room upgrade upon our late night check-in, we were surprised with a cheesecake plate that was decorated with warm wishes (the trip was a belated birthday trip for my partner) – we were very touched. - It is really good value for money. While it’s not the cheapest hotel around, it certainly delivers much better bang for your buck than you’d expect for similar boutique properties, especially if you can find a deal through a third party website. Bathrooms are fully equipped with toiletries, toothbrushes and other bits you may have forgotten, hairdryers, and in-room Nespresso and minibar is complimentary (albeit with a selection that’s a bit spare), and the value-add of the boat shuttle to town that I mentioned previously takes it to the next level. Thank you to everyone at the Villa Song for a wonderful stay! The next time we visit, we will definitely be indulging ourselves with a stay at one of your beautifully appointed suites. We can’t wait."Locavore: "Three hours of foodie bliss"
"We had the 7 course non vego menu and were again impressed on our third visit to this restaurant. We came from Sanur to eat here again and it was worth the journey! The kitchen maintained the excellent level of taste sensation in each morsel of the “snacks” and the actual menu courses. My only “mmm not sure” moment was the caffeine fish combination. The tomato consommé with the sorbet, the mushrooms , the varied uses of egg - could go on.... If you have the time and the money and enjoy food as an experience, go. Its around top dollar for Bali, but not in comparison to similar in Australia and Michelin rated restaurants in Europe."
