Villa Song: "Amazing City experience"

Review by: Debbie P | Source: Trip Advisor
"we had a fantastic stay at the Villa. the staff and Manager were extremely helpful and friendly. we are not city lover so this location was ideal and the speedboat transfer meant we had limited experience of traffic jams. The hotel organized all our tours and there were superb. Would highly recommend this hotel the food was excellent and been only 23 room it did feel you were getting one on one personal service. thank you all for making this the great experience it was."

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "There is more to see than leopards"

Review by: LuckboyHertfordshire | Source: Trip Advisor
"An efficient and comfortable campsite in Yala Park. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and the food prepared is varied and in great quantity at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The location of the meal moves around the camp, so there is always a new view. There seems to be almost as much wildlife in and around the camp as there is in the park, with water monitors below the walkways, all kinds of birdlife in the bushes and trees and elephants visiting to the edge of the camp. We visited blocks 1 and 5 and yes, we did see a couple of leopards in block 5, but for me the glory was the stunning birdlife and incredible scenery of block 1. An excellent 2-3 night break. Room Tip: Go for the luxury tent (tusker) if you can."

Villa Mathis: "Quite fantastically wonderful!"

Review by: Dee R | Source: Trip Advisor
I would heartily urge everybody to plan to have at least one stay in their lifetime at Villa Mathis - and to prepare yourself for many return visits as once will never be enough! From the first day of our six nights' stay, we felt as if we'd walked into a kind of personal Eden. The grounds were full of arbours housing day beds, with all kinds of private relaxation areas nestling amongst the bird-filled trees, vividly coloured flowers and exotic vegetation. Chris and his team were wonderful: they were there when you needed them, discreet when not required and incredibly helpful, smiling and friendly all of the time. We took advantage of the "romantic night" offer and were given a pampering via massage and petal filled bath prior to a wonderful private meal served in fairytale candlelit surroundings. Even though the 18 bedded premises were apparently fully occupied during our stay, we could never have guessed - such is the design of the whole area. Our personal villa was spacious, comfortable and had beautiful décor. If you are looking for tranquility and balm to the soul - this is the place for you as it is out in the countryside but only a very inexpensive 10-15 minutes' taxi ride away from Seminyak. I am sure there are still some glorious rooms and hideaway areas that we didn't manage to discover - so we shall just have to go again!

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Excellent experience"

Review by: ymori_mori | Source: Trip Advisor
"This place make me forget I am in Yangon. Like Switzerland or some place in Europe except the temperature on the day. Starting from amuse, allure us and dishes we have also excellent. If there are at least one closed room it is best for business too. I have to report that they made best effort to make separate table and works perfect for the occasion of that day for us. I am sure I will come back again and again. Within less than one month I went three times already this tells how good they are."

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "You haven’t lived until you’ve seen this! Absolutely Magical"

Review by: Dragos B | Source: Trip Advisor
"I've traveled on 6 continents, from the South to the North Pole, from luxury cruises to great hotels and guess what: Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris is by far among the very best experiences you can have. The stuff is National Geographic-quality, the food is 100X better than you get in any hotel, and everything is made with love and hard work. You stay in the heart of the jungle, the stars in the sky and torches in the ground guide you through the forest at night, you wake up to the music of tropical birds. This is the place to find your inner peace, your wild heart and remember what life is really about. I will be back soon! See you there!"

Mie Cafe: "Really really good"

Review by: tjwb | Source: Trip Advisor
Went on the recommendation of a local and were blown away by the quality of the cooking here. We weren't surprised to hear that the patron/chef had trained in a Michelin 2 Star in Switzerland. The food shames many one star restaurants I've eaten in elsewhere. We both started with scallop tartare with seaweed and heart of coconut. I followed with Fish Amok and S with a risotto. All just superb. We are going back tonight. Do not miss if you are in town.

Maison Polanka: "5 star done right"

Review by: almorajacks | Source: Trip Advisor
Maison polanka is a 5 star done right. Stylish rooms in an intimate atmosphere with attentive and friendly service. The art works and the furnitures in the Khmer house were gorgeous, and it was a class apart from anywhere I have stayed in the region. The room is huge intact and we appreciated the large shower area with lots of rooms for the clothes to be hanged and lots of space for personal belongings. Everything was spotless on arrival, including the common areas. The food was excellent. The hotels location which is just within the city. Yes the road is bumpy but you will find a haven at the end of the pagoda. Thank you to everyone involved in making our stay so pleasant.

Locavore: "Long, Drawn-Out Food Mystery Tour"

Review by: queen_of_expats | Source: Trip Advisor
"I have had two lunches here and although I liked almost all of the dishes, there are a few that were borderline disgusting. The whole showmanship aspect, lengthy affair of eating each morsel as its own chapter of your life, starts to feel more like some sort of culinary striptease rather than a joyous gifting. I know they want to give each taste its due, but the timing never felt quite right, and sometimes I would anticipate when the next dish would arrive, eating ridiculously slowly, only to be surprised by the sudden arrival of the next amazing thing. This place aims to create a tour de force dining experience, with discs of some mashed-together vegetable, or a deep fried leaf of something you never thought of eating. Exquisite sauces, pleasing texture combinations, and clever reinventions of some silly thing like a mushroom... these are what are in store for you at Locavore. But every once in a while, you get some taste of something straight out of American Psycho, the novel where young investment bankers vie for tables at NYC's latest culinary palaces, with such bizarre dishes as ""Shad Roe Omelet"" are on the menu. By the way, I want to thank Locavore for never serving me anything with sea foam on it. There's a gimmick you will see at Mosaic, but, thankfully, never encountered that fad at Locavore. The chef is into invention, rather than riding trends set by others. That said, there were a couple of memorable dishes (for the wrong reasons) which were just too weird to finish. I mean, I could eat around this one that had some sort of oatmeal-type grain... it wasn't polenta or oats, either. It was just too cold and mushy, though, and I went for the sauce and crispy bits next to the gruel. When I asked for a custom cocktail, describing to the waiter that I liked bitters and dry flavors, he came back from the bartender with a suggestion for something described as using sugar. I had to kind of back-and-forth it for several minutes with the waiter and bartender before he arrived at something without sugar or fruit, and it was tasty and original, but I was surprised by the amount of discussion we had to have. I do appreciate the precision concern for my tastes in alcohol and seasoning, but be forewarned that if you ask the bartender to invent something for you, it may mean starting a conference. I still give these guys a high score because there is nothing else like it in Bali, and the cooks take such pride in their work. But be aware that not every exquisite little dish will be a firecracker of pleasure. Hard surfaces throughout the restaurant make for awful acoustics. Sound bounces everywhere and I prefer softer atmospheres for fine dining."

Cuca: "Deliciosa experiencia"

Sukoon Houseboat: "Perfect place to unwind"

Review by: Emmaexplore | Source: Trip Advisor
I visited the Sukoon houseboat during the current difficulties. We had been hesitant to go but decided to go for it and I am really glad we did as we had an amazing time. We were collected from the airport and taken straight to the houseboat: the streets were deserted and there was a soldier presence but once you get to Dal Lake, which is quite a way from the old city, everything was brilliant. The boat is beautiful and the staff are amazing. The food is fantastic. We went out on a shikara ride on the lake, visited gardens and went walking in the hills near the lake: our guide was excellent. There were a few things we couldn't do because of the difficulties but this didn't impact on the overall enjoyment of the trip. The lake is just as beautiful as I had imagined. We really enjoyed ourselves and I would highly recommend it.
