The Cabochon Hotel: "Classic eclectic"
"The furnishing and finish is exquisite. The surgical head lamps near the kitchen and classic England sink and toilet bowl are just some examples how the hotel endeavours to capture the past. The service from the hotel staff is the best out there. Limited number of rooms so you feel like you are the only guest here. Interesting breakfast layout where you can dine amongst the hotel lobby areas. Will definitely have fond memory of 45 sukhumvit road. Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"The River Resort: "Magical Mekong River views – with good food and a spa!"
"We stayed three nights at this lush and green, rather smart resort, arranged for us by Selective Asia. Our family villa room was upstairs, with a balcony and absolutely wonderful views over the Mekong. Great to watch the fishermen at sunrise from the balcony or from bed, with a cup of tea made in our room, or enjoy a drink from the minibar listening to the crickets as the sun set. A magical spot indeed. You’ll need your anti mosquito lotion for sitting out in this location, but the resort villa rooms have good nets and our room was realatively easy to keep mosquito free! We ate at the hotel open air restaurant every evening and found plenty to choose from, with a good range of western and Asian options. We enjoyed all our meals, and service was excellent. Breakfast was good too, but we would have liked some more bread options as well as the rather sweet slices there were to toast (e.g. brown?) - but maybe that’s not available at this slightly remote location. One of us had a massage at the spa, which was great and a lovely option to have right on site. Hotel provided us with a boat crossing to meet our guide at the opposite river bank, which was ideal and very prompt and comfortable. We also had laundry done, which was not expensive and very convenient. Sadly we didn’t get chance to use the free bikes. All in all a wonderful spot and a lovely exclusive hotel, and we loved having it as our base for exploring the Mekong River and the nearby Wat Phou UNESCO Site."Heritage Suites Hotel: "Best hotel of our trip"
Our guide told us there are 400 hotels in Siem Reap, well I am pleased we stayed at heritage suites. We enjoyed the pick up in the old car and the welcome drink and towels. I had booked the basic room as we did not expect to spend much time in the room and was delighted to to escorted to one of the garden suites. We voted it the best room we had of all the rooms on our trip. The service of the staff was excellent. Enjoyed happy hour and a light lunch by the pool. We booked our tour of Angkor wat through the hotel and it was well worth it our guide was excellent and managed to make the tour as individual as possible and I did not feel one of the masses and his knowledge of the temples and his insight into Cambodia was superb. A wonderful end to our trip around Vietnam and Cambodia my only regret was that we only had two nights .Tugu Lombok: "We were totally spoilt"
Our family of five (kids 19, 16, 9) spent 11 nights at Hotel Tugu in July and it was sensational. We picked Lombok because the weather is perfect at this time of the year, the water is like a bath and we wanted somewhere less commercial than Bali. We had two of the least expensive rooms and they were huge, one accommodated the three kids easily. We spent our days snorkelling (at high tide you can swim out directly in front of the resort to see lovely tropical fish and we saw a turtle once); paddling; reading; eating and drinking; and reconnecting as a family. A day trip around the Gili Islands is a must and the nearby Autore Pearl Farm does a great tour although you'll need LOTS of money to buy their pearls. Instead I bought cheapie freshwater pearls from Ali who sells them on the beach! As with all holidays its the people who set a place apart. The staff at Tugu couldn't have done more for us. Trips to chemists for cold medication, aranging tours, making delicious food that they will serve literally anywhere you like, bringing sun lounges to you when they see you laying on the sand, and a final night display of folded towel animals, the likes of which we've never seen. If you need a real break, Tugu comes highly recommended. If you do go, please consider Lombok's Forgotten Children's Foundation (just google for details). We took over a couple of bags of good quality children's clothes and I'm currently collecting pre-used laptops and phones to send over. It's an incredible grass roots charity making a huge difference and if you're lucky enough to stay at Tugu I'm sure you can also do something small to help when you visit Lombok. The Cabochon Hotel: "Elegant hideaway"
Loved staying in this hotel. Situated at the end of a lane off busy Sukumvit, it is a quiet oasis, tastefully decorated in colonial Asian style. The staff are warm and friendly. The rooms are large and comfortable. There is a rooftop pool with good views. The breakfast is very good. Highly recommendedRice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Our very special place"
Thank you Michael and Maya ❤️ for creating such a sacred place, a little breakfast paradise, a beautiful scenery place, most cozy sleep, most lovely pool time space, all in one. You be in my 3 most beloved places among my travels!!!!Chakrabongse Villas: "Like your own private paradisr"
Lengthy layover of 36 hours and this place just provided a welcome break and a place to breathe. I stayed in Mali suite which was beautiful. Bed is very firm . Breakfast was awesome by the river and staff did their utmost to make my stay comfortable. Easy walking distance to flower market, Wat Po which is spectacular by night, and Grand palace . I took a tour with Pandan Tours on the khlongs which provided excellent insight into daily life in Bangkok. A+++The River Resort: "Peaceful Retreat facing the Mekong"
"Only 30mn from Pakse airport... right on the Mekong with a small island in the river in front of the resort. Huge land with trees, their own rice fields and gardens all around. It's a refill of oxygen to stay there. Excellent staff and friendly service under the supervision of Ton, the GM. I recommend to wake up early and admire the sunrise on the mekong from your balcony. Great restaurant also, with very generous portions Definitely recommended for people looking for a quiet and green environment and who enjoying activities in nature: walks, bike, boat trips..."Tugu Bali: "Authentic Bali"
"This hidden juwel is decorated with the most beautiful antiques from Ancient Indonesia, lots of lush greens and an extremely helpfull staff, and the best in room dining experience - really amazing - order the nasi campur, and you will be happy. I stayed in a small villa with a private pool and was happy."Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A First for me"
"This is the first time I have reviewed any accommodation on any website, but I am moved to do it following a lovely stay at Tiger Mountain. I went there in a poor frame of mind as all my trips to Nepal in the past have been trekking holidays, but this time I was prevented from treking long distances due to injury. My wife and daughter had gone off on the trek leaving me feeling a little grumpy. But it didn't last. Tiger mountain lifted me from the moment I arrived. There is an air of tranquility about the place which is hard to describe, but it is soothing, warming and embracing. All the staff are fantastic. They are attentive but not overbearing. They are helpful and take the time to understand you, and then offer ideas which enhance your stay. I did some lovely walks guided by in-house staff who knew the area and people so well. It just makes the walk so much more enjoyable. I was also carefully steered away from an idea for a walk which I had, which with hind site would have largely been a waste of time, ending up doing a superb replacement instead. This approach to guests runs through the organisation from top to bottom, and also rubs off on the guests. Although traveling alone I couldn't have wished for better company, I had my meals with other guests who were great company and became friends. On top of that Marcus, (the owner), found time to join us and added to some very enjoyable evenings. And what of the accommodation, well the setting is great, my verandah affording terrific views of the Annapurna range, what better way to enjoy that early morning coffee delivered to your door. And inside there are all the ameneties you would wish for, provided in an environmentally thoughtful way. The food is delicious, fresh ingredients and an imaginative chef combine to produce fantastic meals. And I think it is the staff which is Tiger Mountains greatest asset. On talking to them, most have been here for years, some since it opened, and that means visitors benefit from staff who are knowledgeable and work as a team to provide an unparrelled experience. Yes, I did enjoy my stay immensely. A big thank you to Marcus and ALL his staff."
