Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "paradise found"
we as a family of 4 (kids 9 & &) spent 3 nights at Golden Buddha over Thai New Year. We were all completely blown away by the natural beauty of the island and its wildlife. It was a trek to get there but was a price well worth paying. We stayed in Tongsai which was a charming house at the beach front. It is old fashioned luxury minus air con or electricity at night! The service was excellent as you would expect from the Thai people as well as Massi from Italy. We did a jeep safari which I would definitely recommend. We had a very knowledgeable and personable American guide called Brennan. The whole experience was just magical and one we shall never forget.Sandat Glamping Tents: "Serene start to honeymoon"
"We spent the first three nights of our honeymoon here and it was perfect. From the moment we arrived to our personal tent with the plunge pool filled with petals, to the beautiful candles lit to guide your way to dinner and the incredible food! It is very much off grid, and of course there are the occasional jungle sounds and a few lizards to keep you company, but that is what makes it such an unusual place. We have glamped in other parts of the world and this definitely had the edge on luxury, and the least bugs!! The site is nestled unobtrusively among rice fields and feels very blended wth the local area. Although slightly out of the hustle and bustle of ubud, the free shuttle is excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Thank you for a lovely Stay!"Maduzi Hotel: "Great location! Great helpful staff! Clean and spacious"
"I booked this based on good reviews.... pleased i did! Private and Location is excellent! Staff friendly, breakfast and dining great, clean spacious rooms. Street food on footpath outside and up past 7/11 yum too! Maduzi offers a gym and a lovely bar area, dining area, day/ lounge area."Glenburn Tea Estate: "Restful stay"
"We enjoyed our stay here very much. You can do as much or as little as you like. Our spacious room in the new bungalow faced onto the mountain ranges in the distance, over nearby Sikkim, and we could also look up to Darjeeling way above. We enjoyed our ""Bed"" coffee each morning. We visited Darjeeling, had a guided walk around the tea gardens plus walking there on our own, and a guided walk to the suspension bridge into Sikkim, followed by a very good lunch by the river. The food was very good in general, breakfast and lunch are served outside. We enjoyed the dinners in the old bungalow dining room with its huge table.Though communal dining may not be for everyone. Lovely place to stay, once you have arrived after the grim road trip there! Recommend timing flight in so that the drive doesn't need to be done in the dark. But worth it for a minimum 3 nights perhaps, we stayed for 5. Very much enjoyed our stay, a good end to a busy trip."sukoon: "Sukoon… Peace of mind"
"Happened to stay at sukoon for one night. Houseboat is located in one corner of dal lake and it rightfully earns it's name ""sukoon"". All I can hear was birds chirping, occasional ripples of water caused due to shikara and ofcourse my baby girl commenting in her coded language. You will find an amazing team who amongst themselves can communicate in total 10 Indian languages. Give a free hand to chef Anand who can experiment and amaze you with his culinary skills. Try Kashmiri bread with butter and apple cinnamon jam. For travellers who would like to watch TV this place would disappoint you as in principle it's against the theme. For history lovers make sure to read a letter from the office of Neil Armstrong dated 1972. A vote of thanks to tariq, kiran, azad and Anand for their wonderful hospitality. "The Island Lodge: "Chill out space extraordinaire"
You know that feeling of leaving a perfect place and grieving for that experience? Well, that is how we feel right now. The Island Lodge provided us with much needed healing and relaxation from the stresses of our work, health issues and our lives in the 'rat race'. The world is becoming a harder place but The Island Lodge provides a respite from all of that. Thank goodness for such a place. We spent most of our time outside or on our balcony watching the river life - a busy artery of interest and diversity. The breakfast was personalised - no buffet. Beautiful basket full of breads, a variety of juices, eggs to suit and more. Dinner and a nice wine list enhanced the open wall dining area so we could still see the river! Pool was the perfect temperature for me. A comment about the staff - they were gracious, polite and seemed to be able to predict your needs. Thank you to all.Chakrabongse Villas: "Stay in a prince’s palace"
This was built in the 19th century by a Thai prince. It's on a busy street and right next to the river. Once you get behind the gates, it's your own private palace. Pool, garden, decks overlooking the river. I think there are only about 9 rooms. It's pricey, but worth it. Our dinner was about a 7-course meal (prix-fixe), each one a delicacy. Took off my shoes at the gate and wandered around the rooms and gardens for all three days we were there.Nimmu House: "The perfect place"
We chose to end in Nimmu House a rather full program of trekking and touring in Ladakh. We couldn't be happier with this choice. Our heads full of memories to process, we were given space, the beautiful apple and apricots orchards, the relaxing terrasse, our own luxury tent, and time, no rush for anything, to digest all we had done so far and also the idea that we would have to leave soon. The old house is beautiful. It is being restored with great attention and respect for locale traditions. The staff is very kind and extremely helpfull and the food is fresh and delicious! The perfect place ...JL Studio: "A magician Chef!"
"With the talented creative sense of Chef Jimmy, a beautiful presentation, a deeply researched concept, a friendly team for service, JL Studio has found the magic formula to surprise. Young chef, young team, new place... yet a solid experience that transports us with brio into the imaginary world of the Chef. CONGRATULTIONS!"Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Interesting architecture"
