Pindaya Farm House: "Great Shan State retreat"

Review by: Lucasmom2016 | Source: Trip Advisor
"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2.5 day, 3 night stay at the farmhouse. After working/living in Yangon for six weeks, Pindaya Farmhouse is a little paradise, a beautiful building, with wonderful spaces indoors and out to enjoy the rural scenery, along a quiet drive and road out from which we birded quite happily in the afternoon (enchanted by the Sooty-Headed Bulbuls...). The décor is stunning, including bright paintings by Myanmar artists that grace the common room's walls. We also appreciated the farmhouse's efforts at sustainability, with solar panels, solar heated water for showers, rainwater harvesting and storage, and ample vegetable gardens and newly planted fruit trees. I can't wait til the mango trees begin to supply fruit! The rooms are extremely comfortable, each with private sitting spaces outside affording vistas of the rural countryside. Lighting is excellent, and the wifi system was quite reliable (also surprising to find!). The kitchen offers a nice array of dishes for lunch and dinner, although Win Naing also recommended an excellent restaurant, the Golden Moon, on the outskirts of town. We spent one half-day touring the caves, the nearby paper/umbrella artisans, and a weaver. On our second full day, we hired a guide to take us on a 5-mile hike up into the hills, where we visited a village in the bamboo grove and watched potato ""crackers"" being smoked/dried and enjoyed green tea and good conversation with the lady of the house. Along the way, we were passed by a couple and two Myanmar guides who were hiking from Pindaya to Kalaw, a three-day trek. I also collect textiles, and was sent to a little gift shop that had a beautiful selection of women's ""longyi"" cloths. Afternoons were for relaxing and reading, while evenings we especially enjoyed our final dinner shared with fellow travelers. In mid-February the air is still cool and delightfully dry in Pindaya, a welcome respite from Yangon, although it was always a bit smoky from the farmers who are burning crop residues in preparation for the upcoming growing season. That gave a special glow to the sunrises and sunsets, which were both stunning. Thahara made it very easy for me to arrange all aspects of the trip, managing my extensive email inquiries, helping me to settle on dates, and even arranging flights for us between Yangon and Heho near Taunggyi. I paid online via a secure epayment website, it could not have been easier. I plan to recommend Thahara's Pindaya Farmhouse to all my Yangon colleagues!"

Satri House: "Perfect oasis!"

Our first visit to Laos and this small hotel was 100% perfect!...a great welcome by the manager Giovanni in the beautiful lounge and a very welcome cold beer!...everything about this hotel is well thought out and the bedrooms with private balcoinies are superb...the swimming pool (with sun hats provided) is excellent and the other nice touch is the free bikes...we used them a lot for riding into town which is only about 10 mins away...a really great stay...thank you

The Samar: "Intimate and excellent"

Review by: SerGioDubai | Source: tripadvisor.com
"I've been at SAMAR four nights in July 2015. Overall experience was marvellous. Hotel has 8 rooms only, large and comfortable, designed in colonial style with abudant use of timber and coupled with walking wardrobe and huge bathroom. Pool is always silent and ideal for resting after sunset. Staff is welcoming, pleasant end ready. SPA, satellite TV, fast wi-fi connection everywhere, room safe, english language all available. During my stay I never met more than 3 other guests together, I got a residential feel almost, as being guest at somebody place. Location is conveniently located near archeologic sites and away from noisy and busy msrket/pub area. Highly recommended."

Locavore: "Michelin worthy!!"

Review by: Jonathan A | Source: Trip Advisor
"Wow I came to Locavore with my girlfriend on an evening were the the rain was truly pouring and we were drenched as we walked in. My girlfriend and I had the tasting menu which was outstanding. The staff knew every aspect of each dish and I hope the chef gets the staff to taste the dishes because their knowledge seemed that they had as the waitresses and waiters really did know their stuff. Lovely atmosphere and great staff. Good attention to detail. Great tasting food If this restaurant was in Paris or London it would have cost near £300, however with it being in Bali it was just over £100. Great value for such good quality. Great evening and recommend to anyone to go to Locavore"

Mie Cafe: "Best meal of the trip"

Review by: Ms_Martha | Source: Trip Advisor
"This is a small, fairly unassuming restaurant located in a lovely outdoor garden in the shade of a house in Siem Reap. It is easy walking distance to several large hotels on the outskirts of town. The menu is labeled ""fusion"", meaning that the flavor axis is Cambodian, but presentation styles and cooking techniques seemed to draw from other world cuisines. Nevertheless, the food was fabulous (and I'm picky). Prices were very reasonable. The Khmer curry was incredible. There is an a la carte menu, a fixed menu and a vegan menu."

Tugu Lombok: "Authentic !"

Review by: Kristof L | Source: Trip Advisor
Authentic, exotic, very Nice place, people are so kind. We stayed 4 nights with our 6 & 12 kids, they enjoyed the 2 pools, the snorkeling in the sea and the food. The bungalows are spacious, the bathroom Is open on a private garden. The beach is beautiful with a thin white sand both during the day light or for the lunch. We recommend this hotel.

Misool Eco Resort: "Active Family with 8 year old and 4 year old boys"

Review by: Khasha M | Source: Trip Advisor
"We traveled all over Indonesia for 9 weeks, and we absolutely LOVED Misool. Here's the scoop: 1. Accommodations - There is nice variety of room types, and every room has a fantastic view. In my estimation the resort's website accurately portrays the cottages and villas. They are all tastefully appointed, very clean, and well maintained. Stunning views right over the ""house reef"" (a large beautiful reef right out in front of the resort that is teeming with wildlife - sharks, turtles, and a huge variety of sea life. We stayed in one of the largest villas - Villa Utara - HIGHLY recommend this unit if you're 4 or more people. All units have their own decks with direct access right into the lagoon and over the reef.(...) 4. Diving and Snorkeling - Let me first state that I have been diving in more places around the world, than anyone else I've ever met. That being said, Raja Ampat is the best diving I've ever done, seen, or heard of on the planet. Dense population of wildlife, massive variety... simply awesome. The snorkeling on the house reef is better than most of the diving that people would rave about elsewhere. 5. Children and Family - at age 8 and 4, our boys do not dive. However, they still had a blast. They learned to snorkel, we went paddle boarding, kayaking, playing on the beach, looking for coconut crabs at night (found many)... no shortage of ways to fill the day and have a great time. Look, if you've read this far, I'll tell you that I only have a few reviews on trip advisor. Like most people, I'm more inclined to whine if things don't go well than to report my good experiences (check my other two reviews that are one star). However, we loved this place so much that I feel compelled to urge you to go. "

Villa Song Saigon: "Charming Hotel"

Review by: Tar L | Source: Trip Advisor
"We spent 3 x nights in Villa Song last week and were fortunate enough to be upgraded for the last two. The new bedroom was absolutely stunning at the top of the building with an enormous bed and a beautiful view over the river. The staff were delightful and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Villa Song is situated in a stunning setting right on the river in popular District 2 - and very quiet. It is the most perfect hotel to relax in after touring round Vietnam. There is a fantastic complimentary speed boat service that goes to and from the city hourly. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel - it is the most ideal place to stay in Saigon Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"

Tugu Lombok: "Amazing holiday at Tugu!"

Review by: Katy B | Source: tripadvisor.com
My boyfriend and I had an absolutely amazing time at the Tugu Hotel in Lombok, it is definitely the most relaxing, rejuvenating place either of us had ever been. The setting on the beach was beautiful both day and night, the accommodation was light, airy and beautifully clean and the service was fantastic. We found the staff always smiling, friendly and helpful and we even got a free upgrade while we were there simply because they had a better room available. The food was delicious, always fresh and a good mix of traditional and western food was available.  We will absolutely be heading back to Tugu at some point (hopefully soon!), it really is an amazing place! Thank you to all the staff there who made our stay so wonderful.

The Village House: "Village house"

Review by: A TripAdvisor Member | Source: Trip Advisor
"From the get go I was impressed by this place, the pool, the decor, the rooms, the cleanliness, convenience, service, food and drinks. The Village house was perfect for our large group of 11 offering us the convenience of having almost everything in the one area. We could enjoy each others company easily and still have a basic needs met easily. Pool, cocktails, food, relaxation. Not sure why others have given a lower review. Staff are lovely and polite. If anything the staff may not understand exactly what you are saying, but hey youre in another country and they are doing their best to understand you. Rephrase it, try again and embrace it! Food is fine, lots of options...some western options may not live up to westerners expectations...but why are you eating that anyway? Youre in another country! Embrace the food! :) I really enjoyed sampling a bit of everything Cocktail prices are resonable if not cheaper than other places (alcohol in malaysia is expensive) had a great time drinking by the pool This place is great and did I mention its clean!"
