Mie Cafe: "Best meal of the trip"
"This is a small, fairly unassuming restaurant located in a lovely outdoor garden in the shade of a house in Siem Reap. It is easy walking distance to several large hotels on the outskirts of town. The menu is labeled ""fusion"", meaning that the flavor axis is Cambodian, but presentation styles and cooking techniques seemed to draw from other world cuisines. Nevertheless, the food was fabulous (and I'm picky). Prices were very reasonable. The Khmer curry was incredible. There is an a la carte menu, a fixed menu and a vegan menu."JING’S RESIDENCE: "Great Property!"
The highlight of our trip to Pingyao was experiencing Jing's Residence. The accommodations, staff, food, and service were 5 star all the way. Mr. Hadianas, the General Manager, and his excellent staff made you feel like one of the family. It is the ONLY place to consider when staying in Pingyao. Experience authentic old world charm while luxuriating in modern conveniences and amenities. A truly wonderful property. I highly recommend it.Tugu Malang: "Exquisite"
"Treat yourself and stay here. The team is professional, the food is excellent, the facilities are first rate, but all that aside.... this hotel is all about the ambiance. Consistent with the Tugu group's Jakarta restaurants, the hotel is completely filled with historical treasures, all in their signature charming-quirky-spooky-fascinating-yet-luxurious way. my only complaint is that I wanted to learn about all the pieces, but there was no way to- i reckon little description cards next to everything there would totally ruin the aesthetic. And if you are going to stay here, i reco you go all the way: We stayed in the Zamrud suite - such a treat to climb UP into your four poster bed after a bath in that gigantic tub (you can't not). and if not occupied, make sure you get a tour of the luxury rooms- they are beautifully and very creatively designed. great location too for Bromo tours and all kinds of city exploring- Malang is a lovely city- enjoy!"Yandabo Home: "A tranquil stopover"
"Stayed one night to break our ferry journey from Bagan to Mandalay and it was an unexpected highlight! The rooms and facilities were spacious and luxurious but it was the staff that helped to make this stop over such a delight. Thanks especially to Linn Khine Phyo who arranged our trip over the river to the water buffalo village and accompanied us to the pottery village next door, nothing was too much trouble for her. We would highly recommend Yandabo Home if you are considering breaking the ferry trip."Satri House: "Absolute oasis of calm and tranquility"
After the hustle of Hanoi we flew into Luang Prabang and spent 3 nights at the Satri House Hotel, it was superb. In easy walking distance from the town centre, fantastic beautifully furnished room and lovely grounds with charming pool. The staff were also first class --- I can't think of a single criticism. We have travelled in Indochina before and use trip advisor regularly but this is the first time I have ben moved to write a review ---it was excellent.Dewakan: "A culinary adventure"
"It's definitely a trek to get there but the reward far outweighs the hassle! Finally in Malaysia a restaurant brave enough to march to its own tune. Dewakan embodies everything that Malaysians have always known about with regards to flavours and ingredients but has never been able to harness. Here the true beauty of Malaysian food at its highest standard is served with pride. I can rave about each individual dish but I will let the photos speak in my stead. Speaking to Chef Darren Teoh, the passion and dedication to produce the best is clearly evident. Dewakan is clearly in uncharted waters but its upward trajectory is plainly evident. I look forward to many more meals there."Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "Boutique hotel in Sukhumvit"
"We stayed in Cabochon in July this year and were blown away by this beautiful small hotel. We were unsure if we would like Bangkok but ended up loving it. I'm sure a large part of this was down to Cabochon. Firstly, it is an excellent area of town to stay. It is a 5-10 minute safe walk to a BTS station which takes you quickly to the hustle of town. Plus, it's incredible air con makes it a pleasure to travel on. Sukhumvit itself is also a lovely area where we always felt safe and there were tons of great places to eat. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and you wouldn't believe you were in the centre of busy Bangkok! Firstly, it is so quiet. It is also beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The room is a good size with an excellent bathroom. Also loved the free fruit and soft drinks in the mini bar! They have an excellent (but very spicy!) on site and breakfasts are both buffet and a la carte for no extra cost. Amazing French toast! If I was going back to Bangkok I wouldn't even consider anywhere else. Many thanks to the staff who were outstanding throughout. "Rachamankha: "Beautiful hotel"
"What a quiet and serene place to stay. I stayed here in august 2015 while I was visiting Chiang Mai with my mother. The staff was great (however I think everyone in Thailand is great). The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The rooms and beds are great. It's more expensive than other places in Chiang Mai, but for good reason. I would visit definitely visit again."Tugu Bali: "A Hidden Gem – Romantic and Relaxing"
We had a wonderful stay at Tugu, Bali whose mission is to bring back to life the art, soul and romance of Indonesia and it certainly does. It was by far my favourite hotel on the island. There are so many wonderful historical artefacts on the property, we really enjoyed wondering the hotel to look at them and learn about some of Bali's history. The hotel’s theatrically large entrance lobby creates an impression of grandeur. While there are plenty of unique areas to enjoy a romantic breakfast/lunch/dinner. What I loved about Tugu was the friendly staff and the attention to detail. Staying true to the romance element, when our room was turned down, beautiful poems were left by the bed with an array of fresh local flowers. The bath in our suite was incredible and the flower petals added to the ambiance. For Honeymooners and anyone looking for something a little bit special -Tugu is a must!Labyrinth: "An amazing culinary experience"
"Restaurant Labyrinth got a one-Michelin star in Singapore. As most people do not know what these stars mean, they would naturally associate it to taste and taste alone. Ambience: Comfortable and intimate setting. Tables are well-spaced out for privacy between customers. The size of the table is sufficient for the restaurant's style of service a couple of dishes at a time. Dining cutlery has a nice weight and feel to it, making the dining experience feel more posh. Drink glasses are clean and spotless. The lights are not positioned to the table (purpose-built) hence you have some tables that are more lighted on one end but poorly lit on the other. Moving forward, it would be great if they can get lighting consultant instead of regular general interior designers. Food: Having been to two 3-Michelin, three 2-Michelin and a few 1-Michelin starred restaurants, I would rate the taste as excellent. In fact, the culinary style of food is similar to The Fat Duck by Heston Blumenthal (Bray, England), where it is more of a culinary wonderland than anything else. These types of restaurants let you discover taste experiences that are out of this world. They play not only with flavours, but also texture and temperature. Honestly, I would rate the food at Restaurant Labyrinth better in terms of taste. It is amazing how they made the ""chilli crab"" taste exactly the way it should taste but appearing like the a crab on sand, with cold ice-cream. Your mind will be blown away as your brain juggles the totally new experience to a very familiar taste. Imagine that experience, multiply that with the number of dishes as each course will give you a new perspective. It is such a delight. Service: This is where they lacked a lot. One thing 3-Michelin starred restaurants have in common, the service team makes you feel as though you are the VIP of the day. It is amazing how they manage to do it every single time. Despite having other tables, the staff to diner ratio is amazing. The staff at Restaurant Labyrinth is friendly and warm, but it is not too easy to get their attention as they are busy with other diners. They had to be more reactive (instead of proactive) because they are tied down with other tasks that are ongoing at the same time. Overall: From my dining experience at Restaurant Labyrinth, I would have given them 2-Michelin stars as they were not just ""the best in their category"", but they were ""excellent and worth a detour"". I hope they work on the staffing, the service level and lighting to improve the experience. The food is simply amazing and it is really worth your money and detour (if that applies to you)."
