Misool Eco Resort: "FABULOUS"
I can't say enough about this place or the people that run it and work there. The waters are AMAZING for snorklers. Everything about this place was perfect! It was an experience of a life time. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!Tugu Lombok: "Very Romantic; great personalized Service! Not too far from Gili Islands"
"So romantic, with extremely well-presented Villas and personalized service: felt like everyone there knew our names from hour one! The grounds are lovely and the pool is excellent. Feels like it should cost a lot more $$ than it does. Notably though it is somewhat isolated and one is pretty 'much here' if not taking a Taxi, so I felt they could have either had rested on poor food - or charged a lot at their Restaurants - but instead the Food was really, really good IMO; some of my favorite in Bali and Lombok. We greatly also enjoyed our included Brekkies... Came here with my Son and we got an extra bed which fit fine within our spacious lovely Villa; we were able to spend a lot of time together. A nice thing too is that one can also say take a taxi to local harbor 'Bangdol' to take a slow boat (costs like 15,000 IDR) to Gili T (the fast boat is 4x more and just a few minutes faster)... also see Gili Meno and Gili Air which I recommend.. one small thing to be aware of is the Taxi Brokers when first arriving from say Bali at Bangdol: they will try to charge you 500,000 or more for a taxi from a Harbor to Hotel and yet will 'secretly' give the taxi driver only 50,000 of that!! If you can make your way past thronging Brokers and ignore their aggressive entreaties; go up to actual Taxi drivers and they will take you to wonderful Hotel Tugu for 100,000 or less. If you can get a Blue Bird metered taxi it might be 30,000. We learned our lesson and became pretty adept in avoiding the aggressive Taxi Brokers in Bangdol Harbor! And this allows a lot of travel in going to and from great Hotel Tugu. Anyway both my Son and I felt that Hotel Tugu and its Staff and Meals were fantastic! Like a hidden gem in Lombok. I think that this place would be great too for Romance and couples. Rob W. Stayed February 2017, traveled with family"Tugu Malang: "Flawless and one of a kind."
"Tugu is absolutely soaked in colonial era charm. It comes through in the way they support you throughout the visit. It's in the architecture and extensive art collection. It's all through the menu in the restaurant. It's in the amazing choices of furniture and design. We were given the exact suite we asked for. The tub was beautiful and nicely proportioned. The linens are really comfortable, and high-slung bed is interesting. We spent a lot of time relaxing at the hotel, because it was just that nice. (...) By all means, stay at the Tugu and really explore the place. It's got all kinds of interesting nooks and crannies. Check out Mount Bromo too - and bring your warmest clothes... it's really chilly up there in the morning. Tugu has fast internet, which is good too! Of all the great things which could be said about the hotel -- it really is the wonderful people that make the place great. Friendly and genuine."Dewakan: "Fine dining with lots of local flavours, something really different"
"Inexpensive ingredients but the amount of effort put in to make it look so fine. Worth the dining experience. Unlike the usual Western style where you get rosemary / fennel / thyme, we get typical ingredients that can be found in Asian dishes, eg. cumin, ulam, green curry paste, local flowers. The 5 courses lasted from 8pm till midnight and staffs were already tired by then. It was so obvious we could tell it from their expressions and all. Well I feel bad for making them stay up, but then again, we don't decide when the dishes should come out so..... either buck up on serving time or.... improve on being professional even if it's till late. Don't get me wrong about service, they are pretty good in that, taking extra time to explain to us, repeating when we were a little too chatty about it. They are nice people, students learning I believe. Maybe it's better to be there earlier so it could end by 11."David’s Kitchen: "To celebrate my 50th birthday"
The food was excellent from starter through to desserts. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The owner (David) walked around every table talking to the guests which was a nice touch. The restaurant was very popular on the night we went so the atmosphere was great. We stayed in Chiang Mai for 4 nights and this was the best food and atmosphere by far. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.Slow Villas and Spa: "Hidden little secret"
"Slow is located on the eastern part of Gili Air - it s a small island, but this area is still quiet, with many coconuts and few construction. Each villa is a little private sanctuary, with a large garden, a nice pool, a terrace. charming decoration, quality linen... and the possibility if you like to have a chef to come and cook a BBQ just for you. Very friendly team, happy to share their favorite spots around the island. it's not right on the beach... but this is why also it's so quiet... and beach is 2mn walk! recommended: take a bike and go around the island by bike!"samar: "Beautiful Retreat"
"This is review is long over due. My husband and I stayed here in April and was blown away by it's charms, service and location. Upon arrival, we were greeting with a refreshing non-alcoholic drink and invited to sit in the the sunken sofa in the lobby area. It was nice not to have to stand around and wait to check in at a counter. The reception came and handed me my paperwork while I was relaxing. The General Manager/Owner came out to meet me and explained that my original room that I had booked had a broken AC and they had offer another room for me to stay instead. All of the rooms are gorgeous, well-appointed and and large. It didn't matter which room we were but it was a nice touch that he would personally delivered that message to me. The grounds is nicely kept and looks exactly like that picture on the website, the location is a bit tucked away but it kept the street noise at bay. It was only a 5-7 min scooter ride to the gates of Angkor Wat. We are dinner there every day and the food was good, avoid the steak, as I think the beef quality in Cambodia can be a bit tough. Breakfast was included with our rooms and it was a la cart and it was very well presented. The bathroom reminds me of an old french colonial style with a claw-footed tubs. However, the amenities (lotion, shower gel, etc) was in a ceramic container. Be careful, Since the shower gel can get slippery, it slipped out of my hand during my shower and the top broke off. Upon checkout, they charged me for a replacement since they said it was imported from Thailand. I didn't questioned it but it seemed a little silly to put a ceramic container in a shower and not expect the guest to drop it on the bathroom tile. All in all, A perfect retreat to come back to after a long and sweaty day touring the temples. Highly recommend it!"Villa Song Saigon: "Great place to relax"
I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. The building itself is beautiful and our room was spacious and felt very luxurious. There were little touches that we really loved such as the free water and beer in the mini bar which was refilled daily and a daily snack brought to your room in the afternoon. The hotel is out of the city centre, but there are regular boat shuttles to take you in to the centre of town. The pool area is a great sun trap or you can sit by the riverside. The breakfast and dinner area is outside looking out on the riverside and the breakfast is extremely tasty. The best thing about the hotel though was the team who ran the hotel. They were so helpful, giving us great restaurant and activity recommendations and helping us with any questions we have. I highly recommend staying here and you will leave feeling revived!Satri House: "Like home: in a prince’s former residence!"
"Staff is just wonderful, always going ""the extra mile"", if, for example, you appreciate an extension of your booked room to take a nap until it's time to leave for the airport. Food, both lunch and dinner, is most delicious. Rooms are spacious, quiet, all with wifi. Pools and lots of lovely areas to relax...Library and fireplace: perfect setting for a glass of wine,- or two... All in all: I wish them every success! They deserve it!"Villa Mathis: "Quelle sérénité"
For our first time in Bali, we chose to stay at La Villa Mathis. We loved this haven. This hotel is a beautiful concept, atypical bedrooms in small independent corners with 4 pools in total! You feel free to move in the middle of this very restful greenery, to swim where you want. Everything is well thought out, very nice decor throughout the hotel, plus personal pampering and smiling throughout the day! What happiness! We will not hesitate to return and reside also in Ubud. We go to lunch at Mathis Retreat during our day in Ubud and it is also a delight. What serenity !!
