Mrauk U Princess Resort: "Heaven in Mrauk U"
From Sittwe, you must take a boat. Please don't think about this as something you need to do before getting to where your holiday starts. Make the boat ride the adventure. Mrauk Oo Princess Resort has a lovely boat, where you and your friends can relax and witness life on the water as you pass by remote villages, pagodas and breathtaking views. We arrived at night with the whole resort lit up by lovely lights. Stunning. The staff was so incredibly friendly and the food was exceptional. I actually prefer Mrauk U to the more touristy Bagan. One has some beautiful archeological sites to visit from Temples to ancient Pagodas. The highlight of my trip was the sunrise and sunset that Mrauk Oo organized for us. I was not sure what to expect, but was up at 5am and was taken by car to a pathway that was a 10 minute hike to a very old Pagoda that had the most amazing view, with only my group around, we got to the top and coffee/tea and croissants were awaiting us, as the sun came up over this beautiful land. Our sunset was from a different location, the climb was a bit steeper but just as rewarding. Champaign was served instead of coffee. I felt very spoilt. For a slice of Myanmar paradise away from the hectic touristy spots, this is by far my favorite place in a long time.Maison Polanka: "Outstanding hotel for those who do not want to be part of the backpacker party scene"
"I stay in a lot of high-end hotels, but this one is right up there among the very best. The location is slightly - but not inconveniently - off the beaten track (literally, the approach road is dust). This turns out to be a blessing when you consider that some of Siem Reap is decidedly too brash. The neighbourhood seems authentic and not at all threatening. The first thing that strikes you when you enter the hotel is the superb garden, which is like a tropical paradise. It is a delightful place to come back after a hot day at the temples. The puppy and two rabbits add a very charming and slightly comic touch. There is a very nice, but small, pool. The rooms are exquisite. Incredibly tasteful, stylish, comfortable, and the staff are willing to customise to individual needs (e.g. twin versus double bed). The restaurant is outside, with very nice food, beautifully presented. We requested local fruits they don't normally serve, and they went out of their way to buy them from the local market. The management is attentive, full of good advice, can arrange local tours however you want to do it, and is very friendly without being at all intrusive. All in all, if you like boutique hotels which are relaxing and authentic, you will absolutely love this place."Tugu Malang: "Excellent service!!!"
"The Tugu hotel is a hotel, but at the same time it's also a museum. We stayed here for 2 nights and we had an amazing experience. Because of the low season we could choose our room. The staff was incredible. No question was ever too much to answer and everything was arranged with a smile. Every staff member knew our name and the small talks during breakfast and dinner gave our stay a personal touch. When you stay at the hotel you get a free tour of the hotel/museum and a good explanation of all the artifacts. For us this was a nice bonus, because it helps you understanding some of the history of Java. There are spa facilities and we've booked the 4 hour couples retreat. It was very relaxing: massage, bath with fresh rose petals, scrubbing, manicure, pedicure, washing en drying our hair, tea,... and after all that (really took 4 hours) there was a 4 course dinner, again with some personal touches (all included in the price). What can I say about the food? One word: super! There are so many things to choose from for breakfast and dinner. Local food, street food, western food, chinese food,... Last but not least is the Tea Time Experience in the afternoon. Every day between 16pm and 17pm (or 18pm) you can enjoy a nice cup of tea with fresh made Indonesian snacks. If you stay at the hotel you should certainly try it once. Kept all things in mind this hotel is one of our top 3 of all the hotels we've been in the world! I certainly hope to visit this hotel in the future during one of our next journeys. Thanks to the staff for making this a very pleasant stay. "Not in the main bit of town but only a short tuk tuk ride into the crab market. It was so nice and peaceful though. Staff are amazing and incredibly helpful. Our room was beautiful and clean. Just a small issue with doors closing properly to the outside bathroom which could've been an issue if not for the big spray provided by the hotel. If you're after a beautiful and relaxing location this is the place to stay."Villa Song Saigon: "Luxury and serenity with wonderful service"
I can't say enough good things about this small luxury hotel. I wanted a short break at a boutique hotel and Villa Song Saigon surpassed my expectations. From the moment I arrived where I was upgraded to the Imperial Suite (with two private terraces, one overlooking the Saigon River and the other, a beautiful pool) to the spa (fabulous hot stone massage by Duyen) to the amazing and friendly service from every member of the hotel staff I encountered to the superb breakfasts on the banks of the Saigon River, afternoon cheese platters and great dinners, I spent four idyllic days here. The hotel is in District 2 so a little way out of the crazy bustle of Ho Chi Minh City centre but very easy to get to either by a frequently running shuttle bus from the hotel or taxi. But once you get to the hotel it is quite hard to tear yourself away. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have music in the spa if guests want it. I highly recommend Villa Song Saigon and if I come back to Ho Chi Minh City I will definitely stay here again.Muang La Lodge: "A truly wonderful hotel"
"A superior hotel that offers a wow factor. At the time of staying we were the only guests and were treated like royalty. The quality of the room was stunning, and the service provided by the staff was second to non, including satisfying an urgent need for clean laundry. We would highly recommend a trek from the hotel, this was a challenging adventure, but highly worthwhile. The location on the banks of the river with accompanying hot springs was spectacular, and we were made to feel very much at home. Food was really rather wonderful. We cannot rate it highly enough, and would love to return one day. Stayed October 2016, traveled as a couple"Satri House: "Delightful hotel near the center of town"
"Very very well done property. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are very comfortable, spacious, clean, and restful. The property is so well designed and manicured. I keep saying to my wife, if I could design a home from stratch, I would design it like the Satri House. Amazing court yards, nooks, crannies, stairways, arcs, balcony just fit together to create an amazing collection of spaces. Service was amazing esp at breakfast. The breakfast itself was simple but very well executed. One of the best hotel experiences we have had. Spa was ok. We had a couples massage and it didn't impress us."Glenburn Tea Estate: "Wonderful place"
"There’s only one downside - a very rough road to get to it. However, it’s only the final 30 minutes of the trip and trust me, it’s worth it! Large, clean and very comfortable bedrooms, amazing views of the hills of Darjeeling, the tea estates and the snow-capped Himalayas, quality breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner and, in between relaxing, some great things to do. A walk down to the river or up to a viewpoint led to cold towels and drinks, followed by amazing picnics. There are cars to take you everywhere if you don’t want to walk. Highlight for us was spending time with the lovely Nilima, a local guide, who was knowledgeable, happy to talk about her life and the local community, and great company as well. Highly recommended."Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Take the tour!"
"Beautiful building - thoughtfully and aesthetically restored. There are three tours a day, 11, 2 and 3:30. Make it your priority and if you are there on a Friday, it's your lucky day. You will see why. The tour gives you a good perspective of the history and the lifestyle of the elite of Penang."Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Not Just A Hotel But An Experience"
"GOOD: -historical and cultural hotel with a vast Chinese history -price is relatively high in Penang but it is worthy definitely -huge room, clean washroom even it looks old (looks old, not physically old) -consistent and thoughtful interior from the lobby to the stairs, from the atrium to the room, you will feel you are in the old China -nice place for breakfast BAD: -as there is a lot of open area and trees, do expect there will be mosquito in your room, you better check once otherwise you will be bitten like a fresh meat that I experienced Room Tip: Old but Not Physically Old"
